  1. Not sure what "Legendary Harbors" means....... what are the embarkation and disembarkation ports?

Congratulations in advance for your early retirement. I took early retirement as well and have enjoyed every minute of it:)

"Legendary Harbors" is the name given to the 87-night Grand Voyage that begins in Tokyo (Yokohama) in March and ends in Southampton in June. SO looking forward to this!

  2. Oh, oh--breaking news! Lorraine just came over the PA to announce that due to strong winds and big swells we can't tender to shore safely, and, thus, will be bypassing Roatan! She continued that the captain is looking for a "solution for the day." The options: find another port "with an opening," or have a sea day. Stay tuned!

...on the 1/4-1/14 voyage last month. It was reported that we had 16' swells & 62mph winds that would make it unsafe for us to dock. So the captain stayed in the sheltered cove until about 10an to let everyone get a good breakfast & then he headed out to our next port (Guatemala) - very rough conditions, so we just slept thru it in our suite and arrived early-evening. This way everyone could enjoy dinner & a peaceful evening. Conditions were so rough during the day that open decks were off-limits and they actually had to shut-down the elevator operations - Captain advised everyone to stay in their suites & order room service. I imagine a few may have been seasick that day - fortunately we can take a rough ride...

  3. Clinching, be prepared for anything. Last week we experienced wind at 62 KTS and 16 foot swells. Not conditions we were expecting. Forward suites 6 had water coming in around deck doors from waves. For safety the elevators and LaVeranda were shut down and passengers were asked to remain in suite for the day. Roatan was missed and most excursions in Belize were cancelled. Did the Navigator manage through? Yes, but it was quite a ride. Wishing you calm Caribbean seas.

We were on this same cruise, forward on deck 7 in 713. Being 1 deck higher, we did not have any water coming thru the verandah door. We just took a Dramamine and slept thru the rough stuff. When we woke up around 3pm it was mostly over. Would we sail her again? In a heartbeat...though our next Regent trip will be on the Voyager next March from Tokyo. CÀN'T wait!

  4. Had to miss Roatan yesterday (tuesday) as docking was unsafe due to high winds. The trip to Roatan was quite rough especially around 5-6 am. Captain updated us around 7am regarding the cancellation of this port call. We stayed in the relatively sheltered waters until 10 am so all could have breakfast, shower safely, etc. We tacked from Roatan to Guatemala to try for a more comfortable ride and the Captain kept us updated on all aspects of the trip. All outer decks were closed due to very high winds (up to 60 kits or so), an amended activity schedule was distributed at all suites by 9am but we simply decided to ride it out with a long nap. Seas calmed down mostly by 3pm. I would say the crew did an excellent job to be sure passengers were as comfortable as possible and many took advantage of room service to avoid having to negotiate stairs as elevators were shut down again due to the rocky conditions.

On other note, we have had nothing but a marvelous experience on this ship (our second on the Navigator...but we've also sailed on the Voyager and Mariner) .... Food and service have been top-notch .... including purser and destination specialists. Just wish Regent would do a full world cruise in '16..

  5. I've heard, probably third-hand, that the OP and PP minis have trouble staying cool when it's hot outside and the sun is beating down on the deck above.

Does anyone have first-hand experience in this area? Report please!

We stayed in 8000 (all the way forward...and no noise from above) on the PP for a Holy Land voyage a couple of years ago. Very good cooling system...as I'd be the first one to complain about the heat :-)

  6. ...yes, we are the lowly elites and had Aqua class accommodations, and enjoyed most all of the benefits. Funny, though, we never received those tote bags...not even the Aqua class mesh bag (though we did receive the contents of what would have been in the bag). And chocolates maybe half the time...and the ice bucket only showed up the 4th day. But I digress. We enjoyed Blu immensely and service most everywhere on board. 'Til the next one...
