  1. Hello, OP here. Just wanted to clarify. I made this suggestion because even though I understand extension cords without surge protectors are supposedly permitted, I had read posts from people who had plain extensions confiscated. We just didn’t want to take a chance and thought this was a good alternative. Number two, this particular cord is a 10 foot power cord that attaches to cpaps power boxes on the already 5 foot cords, making the entire cord  15 feet. I apologize for not being clear about that. They also came in a pack of 2 for $10, which was we felt was a good deal. Also would like to say that the POA has been a great ship. The staff have been wonderful and we are fully enjoying this cruise! Thank you to everyone who helped me with advice!

  2. We are currently on the POA and are both cpap users. Before we left home we filled out the form for distilled water and extension cord for our room. We received an email from NCL that we may or may not get the cord. Fortunately, before we left my husband had found on Amazon 10 foot cords that are long power cords that fit into the machines and are not extension cords. They work perfectly and cannot be confiscated because they are the power cord for the machine. They are called Omnihil 10 foot power cords cpap compatible. Hope this helps!

  3. We are doing the POA cruise in February 2024. We will be staying in Waikiki for three days before the cruise so we are going to see the Polynesian Cultural Center and Pearl Harbor on our own then. During the cruise we are doing all our excursions through NCL. We have several booked including a whale watch and sunset cruise, the directors cut, Volcano National Park and Haleakala Crater at Sunrise plus various trips to waterfalls, Waimea Canyon, etc. We are fully aware the ship excursions are more costly. My husband feels it is just easier as far as getting back to the ship on time plus he says part of his vacation is not having to drive. This is our 30th anniversary trip and will probably be our only time in Hawaii so we are doing what we feel will be easiest and best for us. If we were younger or possibly going to be going back to the islands, we might be more apt to DIY more excursions, but that is just us. Everyone should do what best suits them.

  4. Hello, we will be on the Pride of America in February of 2024. We will be in Honolulu for 3 days before the cruise. A whale watching tour is a must do for us. We have never been to Hawaii before and wondering if we should do the whale watching excursions offered by the cruise or if we should book our own. We are open to booking it ourself but not sure of reputable companies and which island would be best. Thanks so much!

  5. We are flying into ERW on June 15 for a cruise on Anthem leaving on the 17th. We wanted to spend a couple days in the city. We have booked Springhill Suites in Midtown as we wanted to be close to Times Square. Curious as to what those of you who have experience with NYC think is the best mode of transportation from EWR to hotel, then hotel to port? We are planning to go with a car company such as Dial 7. Is this the smartest way? We already have transpiration post cruise back to airport with Royal Caribbean.

  6. We will be cruising on Reflection beginning Saturday, March 26th. Does anyone know if the music festival goes until then? Also we are staying precruise in Fort Pierce (we are driving). It appears to take around 2 hours to get to the port from there, wondering how much extra time should we allow?

  7. We are about your same age, 51 and 53. Look up Cayman Food Tour. It gets fantastic reviews. We SO wanted to do this on our upcoming cruise at the end of March, but they are not giving tours the week we will be there. It is a small group walking tour that visits different restaurants and shops and you get to sample local food. It also provides education on the history of Georgetown and Cayman Islands as you visit a few historical sites. Lots of good reviews on Trip Advisor.

  8. I think some of the confusion about the two different beaches is because there are two different Tulum excursions. At least on Celebrity, that is. I know you are sailing RCI but I believe it is the same case as with Celebrity. There is a Tulum Ruins with Beach Break excursion in which you travel to a different beach after visiting the ruins. There is also a Tulum Express excursion in which you stay at the ruins and are welcome to use the beach below/beside them. We are sailing on Celebrity Reflection at the end of March and are planning on doing the Tulum express because we want to see mostly the ruins and want the choice of whether to use the beach or not. I have read all the concerns about the travel issues with this excursion. However, this is our 18 year old son's senior trip and he really wanted to see ruins and we would probably not do a land trip here so we feel like it's worth the travel to get to see them. I think the tip about breaking away from the group for awhile is probably a good one. We are excited about this excursion and plan to make the best of it!

  9. We will be in Georgetown at the end of March. We were hoping to do Cayman food tour, but they are not offering tours that week. Now we are considering browsing the craft market, going to the rum factory/store, and maybe hanging out at the beach (probably public) for a while? Which would be the easiest way to accomplish this, but taxi or bus?

  10. We did Mystic Mountain a couple years ago and loved it! We had a package that included the ski lift type ride up and back, zip lining and bobsledding. We had free use of the pool and could just shop or relax and enjoy the grounds. The ski lift ride has such beautiful views I could do that back and forth all day and be happy. We are planning on going again in March. It is pricey but you can get a better deal through the cruise line and that also includes transportation. I felt like it was a decent value because you could spend the entire day there. It was beautiful, fun and felt very safe.

  11. We stayed there a couple years ago precruise. We loved it! The pier has a couple restaurants. There is a Publix close by. Can't really say about things walking distance as we drove to Fishlips for dinner and to a couple stores. The hotel was really clean and nice. No carpet in the rooms which is nice in dealing with sand from the beach. Staff was super friendly and breakfast was really good. Note: if planning on staying in oceanfront room, ask for room above 1st floor. There is a hedge/hill type landscape that you won't be able to see ocean from 1st floor. We stayed on 3rd floor and was perfect. We didn't pay for an oceanfront, we booked an oceanview, but still had a great view of ocean and pier. Also, we were able to leave our car in their parking lot for the entirety of our cruise. Can't remember if there was a fee, I don't think so. They arranged shuttle to port. I believe there was a fee for that but was minimal.

  12. We are going on a cruise in March leaving from Miami. We will be driving our own car and looking for a precruise hotel. In other ports we have stayed in a hotel and were able to leave our car at hotel and book a shuttle to the port. From what I am reading this doesn't seem to be a viable option for Miami. Am I wrong? Also it seems hotels near POM will be expensive especially in March. (By expensive I mean over $200/night). Plus it seems questionable that our car will be safe parked at a hotel in Miami during the cruise. Wondering if we should drive to FTL, stay the night and drive to the port and use the port parking. Anyone with experience on which would be the safest, and least expensive method?

  13. Thinking of doing RCCL cruise that ports in Roatan, Belize City, Puerto Costa Maya Mexico and Cozumel. We know that would would like to do a beach day somewhere and explore ancient ruins. Which port has the prettiest, cleanest beach and which one should we explore the ruins?
