  1. My 1st land / sea, I did cruise 1st.  Had a relaxing cruise and then experienced the rush- rush of the land portion.  I was so tired after my trip.  The next time I did the land (rush her, rush there) first and then went to ship.  What a difference.

  2. We had to cancel our trip one month prior to sailing. We did have insurance. Our TA contacted the insurance carrier (while I was still at the hospital dealing with the discovered heart condition of my husband.) The next morning, I called the Ins. Co. and they had already mailed me the needed paperwork.

A lot of paperwork because we pay for our cruises in payments, but I mailed them the paperwork and received my check in approx 13 days. I also received my "premium back" with a letter explaining that the premium refund was minus $36 for processing. (WOW)

I work in a hospital near LAX. I KNOW the value of travel Ins.

Oh,,, they did not refund the flight fares, because we did not lose that money.

  3. My DH on a Princess Cruise in Nov, 2016. Must admit I do spend a great deal of time in the Casino. This was a 19 day cruise. On the first night after playing for a few hours I inquired about the VIP, Club 21 and if I could get a drink and was told that they don't do that here. (My previous cruise was on Holland, Club 21 ---free drinks)

I had a Casino comp from Ocean Players club for $300.

By the 3rd night, I couldn't buy a drink. I'm not a big drinker, all I wanted mostly was bottle water. Holland spoiled me. When I entered the Casino Holland ALWAYS brought me a bottle of water without asking.

I ALWAYS spoke and engaged the casino staff, ( as I do with anyone) and by the 3rd night on Princess, I couldn't buy a drink. Goldfada and cb at sea are correct. The Casino staff offered me a drink every night after the 3rd night. I didn't abuse, maybe 5 drinks on that 19 day cruise and a bottle or 2 of water each night. 2 Specialty Dinner's and a bottles of wine with each dinner.

I hit 2 jackpots and my DH hit one. We were given a free cruise with money to play.

We are taking advantage of that free cruise next month and will see if the casino staff is a nice as they were on our previous cruise.

Whenever you have been rated, THEY KNOW YOU ARE THERE.

  4. I know I can mark my booking to no upgrade but then I lose the chance of getting upgraded or upsold to a suite. I even thought about getting Princess to mark it mega upgrade only but a balcony to a mini would be consider mega. I decided to leave the booking as is and just wait and see.

I always mark as no upgrade, but twice I received "offers". But that was on Holland America. Once from Lanai to Balcony and than from mini to Suite.

  5. We got an upsell offer a few years back. We booked a mini suite and the upsell price for the suite was $700/pp but it was for 15 days. We took it because it was the Hawaiian cruise with a lot of sea days.

Beware of the upsell to suites you may get hooked. We did.

I received an email from my TA regarding a suite, aft, wrap upsell for our 14 day Australian cruise on Holland for $600pp. I was at work and I could not get to a phone fast enough. I called AND emailed,,,, took the offer and chloe45 is correct,,,,,,, we got hooked. It's Suite life for us.

  6. If you have ever been to Mexico and thought you were being hassled by a lot of vendors you ain't seen nothing yet. Colombia was crazy with vendors everywhere. We booked a tour with 6 others from our roll call and Dora (our tour guide) "protected" us from most of the vendors. They recognized her and didn't swamp us like they did some other folks.

The Vendors were so aggressive on my trip there, that I was so uncomfortable, that I got BACK on the bus and the vendors still came to the bus windows show us their souvenir's.

  7. These were not on Oceania, so I guess it's OK. lol

  8. They're not big on dealing with folks by phone these days. Go to https://www.oceanplayersclub.com/contact-us/general.aspx . Leave your name etc., and under "Query Type" you will see a section about offers that you have received. They should be able to help you.

Yes, this is correct. I have left a message with member #, Cruise date and ship and they have responded with whatever offer that is available for me. When I first go to the casino, I have always been greeted by name. (scary, but nice) Drinks on the house.

I'm having the same problem. Yes, it's very frustrating!

  11. Other than the smoking policy, any other considerations between these two? Planning a cruise and maybe a land in August 2017.

    Thanks so much.

    NEW SMOKING POLICY

Holland America Line will implement a new smoking policy beginning in January 2017. No smoking of any kind will be permitted on any stateroom verandah. Smoking of cigarettes, cigars and pipes is already not permitted in any stateroom. We are announcing this new policy to better align with guest wishes and health concerns.

  12. Hiya Guys

I'm going with my husband and older son (32) on Eclipse from Southampton to canary isles/Spain/Portugal in 17 days.

I originally booked the cruise for my elderly father to come but have had to take my son instead as my father is unable to now travel.

So I'm a bit dreading the cruise as its not something I would ever have considered. I'm trying to get excited but just feel nervous.

Is there anything from your experience that I should take .My son smokes, how many cigarettes can you take onboard and where is best to it them. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. I chose anytime open dining ,any tips? When first embarking and suitcases dropped, where do you suggest to go to eat ? Do you sit at dinner with different strangers each time ?

    Much appreciated

    Reikijulie

I haven't been on Celebrity but the limit is usually on the amount of cigarettes that you can buy and bring off the ship via airlines. I believe that it is one carton per person (200 cigarettes).

I'm sorry that your Father is not able to take this trip, but, RELAX and enjoy the anticipation of your upcoming cruise. Hopefully Someone familiar with Celebrity will answer your dining and embankment questions

    Celebrity Smoking Policy:

    Celebrity

Smoking is prohibited in all staterooms and on stateroom verandas, as well as in any dining venue, casino, theater, hallway, elevator or corridor onboard. This policy includes smoking-like products such as electronic cigarettes. Cigarette smoking will only be permitted in designated outdoor areas of Celebrity's ships. Any guest caught violating this policy will be subject to a $250 cleaning fee, which will be charged to the guest's onboard account and may also be addressed through Celebrity Cruises' Guest Conduct Policy. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. In addition, smoking is prohibited on all components of the land tour portion of all Celebrity Cruises cruise tours.

  13. We will be on Anthem of The Seas, October 1/16, sailing to Bermuda. We are wondering if we should notify the Casino Host that we will be on board before the sailing, and if so, who do I email? Is there any benefit to early notification? We are Casino VIP. Thanks for any help that is offered.

    Rhonda :)

Send an email to "Ocean Players club.com" (include your booking #)

I have sent them email's prior to my cruises and each time I received an email back with the amount of money that they would put on my account. When I get to the casino the Casino Host greats me and I never have to pay for anything while i am playing. All I had to do was go the Casino Cage and get the money. Cash in hand.

I hope this works for you, it has worked for me.
