I don't have a certificate! . I created an Equiniti account and can see my share holding and a list of shareholder dividends etc. I also downloaded the Shareperks app to my tablet.

Reading the 7 pages on the earlier thread it seems I need to contact Equinity and explain the situation. They will then send me proof of ownership by post, you can't download it?. On receiving the document I create an image and redact some of the entries? then open the Shareperks app and when asked upload the image?

Do i still have to email my request to shareholder benefits with my 11 digit Equiniti shareholder reference and they email me back saying i can't do it that way anymore?

Is this the correct procedure? 😵😵

Surely in this case you just need to put Equiniti down as your broker and attach a copy of your suitably redacted image showing the proof that you own carnival shares in the same way that you would if you held them with any other broker?  It sounds as though confusion is being caused by those of us who have share certificates also use Equiniti.

I have just been told by P&O in the UK that validation of share certificates by Stockperks has slipped from the advised two working days to five.

P&O also tells me that when they have received validation from Stockperks the passenger no longer has to apply for shareholder benefits for a particular cruise by email or online through the portal because it will be automatically applied to future bookings.  Does this sound right or believeable?

My guess would be that this is a slight misunderstanding.  Now that my shareholder certificate has been validated it would seem that my benefits are always available and I just need to put cruise number in. Perhaps the implication is that you don't have to reapply once the 3 months validation has dropped off like most other holders through brokers will need to.

  3. The whole Stockperks app is set up for the American Market and people who hold their shares through a broker. My guess is that michwat  encountered someone who doesn't understand the old fashioned process of holding share certificates.  As far as I can see the process has worked well for the rest of us.  There's always one unfortunate one, as previously suggested have another go or email customer services. Good luck!

I have just applied for OBC for an upcoming Princess cruise via Stockperks.  I uploaded a copy of my share certificate (dated 3 October 2022) and received the following message: "Unfortunately we had to reject your submission because it was too old."

It goes on to advise that I should upload recent images of my documentation from the last 3 months showing my name, my brokerage name, date of the documentation and the number of shares.

I have no idea what to do now as I only have the share certificate and do not have a broker.

Any advice on how to proceed from here folks?

What did you put in the box that asked for broker name?

Interesting, though I’d imagine there’s only be a small number doing the full WC vs segments so surely better to repeat than cancel more segments?

In a way, but people would have chosen segments for that particular itinerary and it may be better to make alterations before embarkation.  At least they could choose whether they wanted to sail.

It just would be nice for certificate holders to return to the 3 ½ hour service but I am not holding my breath.

Or even the days when we just used to phone a lovely lady called Karen who used to remember where you'd been on your last cruise and had a nice chat about the next one!

    Thank you for your comments.

My experiences were also very bad and could easily have been much much worse. Staff do not seem to have been trained, aware of needs or simply don't care. Very very concerning

Previously they could not have been faulted.  In one way I feel that greater perception of dietary problems has given more choice but in another it does seem as though people jumping on the "I'm gluten free" bandwagon has made restaurants etc more complacent/casual about the difficulties encountered.

Did you raise a concern with Carnival House - if so what was the response?

  8. Both myself and my daughter have always been treated brilliantly with our gluten free requirements, it's a large factor in choosing to cruise.  I tried to eat from the daily menu on my recent cruise by choosing the gluten free options where possible but the waiters on freedom dining were obviously still aware of my requirements as one put some chocolates on the table and whispered to me that they may not be suitable for me as they had been taken from a bought in box.  He was obviously very well trained.  Things are well labelled in the buffet but more care obviously has to be taken as you can't be sure what other people have done to the dishes.

  9. I've just used it and was a bit narked as I hate being pushed into using apps and I've had my shares for so long that I hold a certificate rather than use a broker.  I decided to give it a go and then go back with my feedback with all guns blazing when it went wrong but I have to admit it worked like a dream.  The first question it asked was the name of my broker so I just typed in shareholder certificate and uploaded a photo of it.  This was accepted within hours and I then claimed for my upcoming cruise, again accepted within a very short period of time over the New Year holiday.

Not been on said cruise yet to see whether credit really has been applied but no complaints so far.

  10. Our local Sainsbury's (Southampton) has an ATM which dispenses only euros and dollars.  May be worth investigating whether there is something similar local to you.

I see you are from Essex.  How close are you to Grays or Abbey Wood Sainsburys?  They also appear to have ATMs that dispense dollars which you could use on the islands.

  11. I've been very critical of P and O in the past and was on the Britannia cruise in September just after her little Majorca mishap but I can't say I noticed anything more than the normal wear and tear that you'd expect on a ship that is used 24 hours a day 365 days a year.  She certainly wasn't in bad condition.  To my mind some people are still taking cruises that they paid for under the old expectations and they may feel that standards have dropped whereas this was one that I booked and paid for more recently and I was happy with what was offered.

It must be very difficult to please every palate in the dining room on the budget that they now have to work to so they obviously go for the least offensive (tasteless) option. Disappointing but probably understandable.

I dont understand this damp environment comment, and others who say their towels do not dry overnight. Our towels dry very quickly, we leave them hung on the hangers behind the bathroom door after showering before dinner, and by bedtime they are dry.

Perhaps your body is a lot smaller than the average cruiser's and therefore the towel doesn't get as wet!

Where there any outbreaks of Covid? We sail Friday and that’s our only worry! Great reviews

I'd say there were a few.  People next door to us confined themselves to cabin and noticeably more room service trays around in last few days. We both went down with it day after our return. Here to stay unfortunately but just a cold this time even for my immunosuppressed husband.

If I was on Friday’s sailing I’d be bracing for a very late cancellation, or getting on the ship and not leaving Southampton for a couple of days.

Hopefully it will leave as planned.

I'm on Friday's sailing but as I live in Southampton I'd probably have mixed feelings if I managed to get on the ship and then didn't go anywhere for a couple of days!

  15. Depends who you bank with.  I had the same problem with hotels abroad but I bank with Monzo.  I uploaded photos of receipts to prove I'd paid, raised a complaint and they re-credited my money within an hour.  In theory I may have to repay it in 4 months but as it will have dropped off by then it should be fine.
