Afternoon people!
I had a number that we used for Kodiak Island Taxi that appears to be old 907 486-2515.
We used them in the past to go from Kodiak port to Fort Abercrombie State Park. Drop us off and call them a few hours later to pick us up.
I cant find ANY taxis or transportation available, which I find hard to believe. Assistance would be so appreciated.
Number is no longer good and I cannot find a CURRENT taxi service for this area. Anyone have a suggestion for arranging transportation from the pier to the State Park next year. THANKS!

These types of post crack me up.....IF YOU are so concerned with the "sweetners" available on board.....WHY would you not just bring some of YOUR favorites. It is not like they take up alot of space. The things some people worry about....shish.....

The biggest value is in the room upgrade within the same category. You pay for the cheapest category then use Club Orange to move to a "better cabin". We do not use the bag since they attract too much attention. Thinking of taking the bag and give it to a deserving Cruise Critic traveller.

Hehe, all these posts about Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales are making me regret booking my trip for next year.
But too late, I jumped on booking my time to be safe. I will just have to avoid their site when the sales happen.
KEEP your reservation and MAYBE re-book at a cheaper fare? At least you know you have the excursion you want 🙂

We have visited the remote island of Fanning Island a few times. YOU can easily take the supplies off and walk them to the school or anywhere nearby. There is no one checking stuff. We carried a box full of school supplies, another person took standard medical supplies, etc and handed to the locals. Enjoy and support them by taking some cash and purchasing their handmade items as well. NOTHING in Fanning Island is hard to do. Take the tender over and enjoy your time there 🙂 Remember there are no facilities on shore.

Sorry no one has responded yet to you.
It is very EASY to get to Mendenhall Glacier and fairly cheap on your own. There are a couple (or more) companies that you can book and reserve ahead of time. You easily get off the ship and walk a pretty short distance to where you get on THE BLUE BUS GLACIER EXPRESS for about $45 per person.
- 490 S Franklin St, Juneau, AK 99801, USA The Blue Bus Glacier Express departs from the Mount Roberts Tramway parking lot going to the Mendenhall Glacier. The Blue Bus picks up at “The BEAR Stop” ONLY at the Glacier to return to town.
It is a narrated bus trip directly to and from the Glacier. Drops you off out front of the visitor's area. You cannot walk ON the glacier but you can walk near, very close, to the waterfall!!
"Secure easy and reliable transportation to the Mendenhall Glacier from Juneau with the Blue Bus Glacier Express. Skip the hassle of a rental car and admire views during the bus journey to the glacier. Stay as long as you choose to explore trails, check out wildlife, and go inside the visitor center, and then climb aboard a return bus at a convenient time."
There might be another company..............ENJOY
BE SURE TO WATCH THE TIMES RETURNING....:-) YOU should be able to book directly and not need to use Viator or others...

I guess I was not aware that the additional FOX ISLAND was just adding the food part. We want to SEE lots of cool stuff. Really appreciating the comments so far....keep them coming!!

Looking for opinions and reviews from people who have recently used either one of these companies. Interested in Resurrection Bay including Fox Island or the National Park cruise. Any and all lengths of time reviews welcome as they seem to have 3.5, 4.5, 6plus hour excursions. Also, if booking on our own are they easily accessible/walkable from the cruise ship port in Seward? Thanks everyone!

We are booked on the HA fjord cruise next July. I was looking at the excursions that are up and a handful are already saying sold out. Is this possible or have they just not opened reservations yet? We are probably going to do independent excursions for the most part but we do have excursion credits to use and I'm wondering if I have to book something this early. Also does it mean I should book the independent excursion now in case they get sold out, particularly the Troll Road in Alesund?
Thanks.
I would book this awesome excursion. You have plenty of time to change your mind, if you do. Get it while it is available 🙂 For this excursion we went with HAL because of the long day. Was just fine on the bigger bus and group. We typically use independent excursions but for our 28 day Alaska cruise next July I am booking, and reserving, WITH HAL as it seems harder to get a guaranteed booking. (Can always change our minds) The ships take alot of the companies....especially in smaller ports.

Here is the form we used for the transfer for HAL.

I’m also on this sailing. These ports are replaced with two stops in Scotland. The tendering in Reykjavik is because too many ships are here those days and HAL got the short straw.
Which two ports did you get replaced to in Scotland? Replacing Dublin with Dun Laoghaire is fine and so EASY to take train to downtown Dublin. Hoping that is what you guys got to do. Voyage of the Vikings is the best!! Can't wait for the 2025 to get published for sale 🙂 Thanks

We booked a Europe cruise for September 2024 with this promo and got a midship balcony for a pretty good price. Worse case scenario, if we cancel, we lose a whole $2.
Kudos to you for sure....as it was an offered deal BUT I personally dont like seeing these promotions because it does let people RESERVE a room for nothing.....and as long as until final payment...sucks as it holds up rooms others truely may be interested in. Happy cruise EVERYONE

Something you can also do is CALL Holland America and say you want to put a FUTURE CRUISE DEPOSIT on a certain cruise that is NOT listed yet(we are waiting for the 2025 Voyage of Vikings) You can place a deposit down and you are supposedly notified FIRST when it finally shows up online again. Try to have a room number you MAY want...by the ship the voyage has previously been on. You WILL BE assigned an actual booking number when you place a deposit while you have to WAIT for that cruise. Hope this makes Sense since happy hour has set in here in California just now. As always be sure you are booking and reserving a REFUNDABLE deposit 🙂

Thank you! I am checking on options now since we need so many rooms.
Plus try to get a GROUP RATE on your rooms! Whenever I arrange for numerous room I let them know and it usually works out for everyone. Whether it be a lower price or upon arrival a better room 🙂 Seattle has changed so much (unfortunately because of homeless etc) as we are also ooking for a place NEXT year. Happy traveling

South Coast or Golden Circle from Reykjavik
in Iceland and Greenland
Posted · Edited by VacationCharlene
They are BOTH excellent and you can't go wrong with either selection.
We have done them both but when we go next time we will probably go with the South Coast again. Be sure to bring a rain coat and go behind the waterfall on the South Coast...so cool! Black Sand Beach is amazing as well. We just liked it better 🙂
With the Golden Circle there is a lot of driving AND lots of tourists. It is still great.
FYI MANY people love the idea of the Blue Lagoon and to us it sounds horrible lol Everyone is different but, once again, you cant go wrong in your choice. Have a great time
