We had the same dilemma but it was a no brainer. We booked the Quantum transpacific cruise as it was significantly cheaper and came with OBC.

We did the Ovation transpacific cruise with only French Polynesia ports last year and still had a great cruise!

We have a non refundable fare booked, so wouldn’t be able to cancel and rebook. 

We got a good rate, so can only “upgrade” from here on

We are currently booked in a fully obstructed oceanview cabin guarantee for Alaska but would like to change to a balcony cabin. Not sure if we should switch now or wait. It’d be a balcony guarantee

When we originally booked for our early September 2017 cruise, we were told that we would visit Mendenhall first to spend as much time (within reason) at the park and then take a bus to Auke Bay for the whale watch.  I believe the entire tour was to last something like 4 hours.  When we arrived (1:30pm tour), plans had changed and we went on the whale watch first, spent more time than we were supposed to on the water (no complaints as we saw a lot of whales!) and then was bussed to Mendenhall.  We could spend as much time as we wanted there but the last JWW tour bus back into town was at 6pm - after that and we would have to take a cab.

Those that have booked through Juneau whale watch, how much time did you have at Mendenhall Glacier? Would we have time to do a few of the walks?

Hello, we are looking into the possibility of doing the 5 Glacier flightseeing in Juneau. I see the cruiseline has this option.  I see Wing airways gets great reviews. We are looking for other local operator recommendations so we can compare prices.

We are set on going to the glacier for the walks an sights. It looks like Mendenhall Glacier is open until late. But apparently it can take up to an hour one way if you are travelling during the 5-6 rush hour. Dog sledding isn't a must but thought if we have time to do both, we could but it seems we would be pushing it. Unless we do glacier flightseeing with dog sledding, however that is pricey 😜 Thoughts?

That is a beautiful photo!! Did you book through the ship or independently? How much did you pay? This might be out of our budget, but we will look into it!

Hello, we are finally doing an Alaska cruise in May next year (yippee!!) and we would like to go dog sledding in Juneau. We are in port 1pm to 9pm - I see the sun does not set until late, would it be possible to do the dog sledding tour before going to Mendenhall glacier? We were thinking of going to Tracy's Crab Shack as well.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
