    F & B Manager - Ertan Karasakal

    Cruise Director - Grace O'Donnel-Clancy

    Oooh, lucky you!

We met Grace O'Donnel-Clancy during our last cruise when she was assistant CD, and were mightily impressed with her people + singing skills.  A very smart promotion on the part of Azamara.

    Enjoy!

  2. Are the docs normally available at 30 days prior to sailing?

My TA told me that preboarding documents are no longer required.  Yet, I remember having papers with a barcode supplied by a different TA just before our Melbourne cruise.  (Which we needed at the pier gate before getting close to check in.)

    Thanks for any insights.

Had the question a while back about selecting liquor in a suite. We started in a P1 (liquor choice there also) and upgraded to a CC for the 2nd leg of our B2B. We chose Grey Goose both times, and liter bottles arrived. Signing s short piece of paper at Guest Relations and we were able to donate both to the Crew Bar, A worthwhile gesture if you have the opportunity to do it,

What a wonderful idea!  Thank you for sharing, Rabo.

Just received email cancelling shore excursions we had booked with shore OBC and extra cash. We know thexarea well and don't want to.book alternatives. Hope they let us use the refund as OBC as we only like short, not too strenuous trips and nothing else offers that.

I hope your notification was specific as to how much of your prepayment is to be  refunded to its original form.

    May I ask which cruise?

It's disconcerting to research, plan, prepay for a ship's excursion and then be dealt a cancellation.  I feel for you, and hope Azamara will release their grip on the "exclusively excursion" OBC which came with your booking - one doesn't want to feel there has been a "bait and switch" aspect to this cancellation.

Thanks very much Dorothy’sFriend. All added to the spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15sybIcXkobWRSL9jKDTQ-H6PHmk4ptwSAx3Yw8sQQSQ/edit

Craziest thing - I followed GC's link above to check out where my bid might fall for our October cruise, where I discovered lots of stats for "Fish & Chips."

    Wrong spreadsheet, I think.

Going back to p.51 of this thread, I found the correct link.  And, the info I was looking for.

Thanks, Grandma Cruising, for both taking on this informative spreadsheet and for providing me with a morning chuckle!

  6. Thank you, combine.  Exactly the info I was looking for and yes, if we wish to commit to several meals at a specialty, the package does represent some savings.

The price was around $35pp when we first started with Azamara (this was pre-Chef's Tables) and we didn't need to think too hard about signing on for Aqualina's lovely tableside Dover sole.

Again, thanks.  Now I believe I'll spend some time manifesting an Arabic Chef's Table for our Oct. cruise - that menu looks to be worth the price of admission.

  7. Interesting video, I've not seen an interior stateroom and this was well documented and nicely described.  I have, however, seen Out Of Order signs in the guest laundry.  The video showed at least four of those were in place on the machines, lol.

Slightly off original topic, but is an all white outfit really necessary? We want to try to get by with carry-on for up coming cruise in late October and early November and white pants seem like a totally silly waste of space.  Not to mention footwear to match. Is a white top enough?

A white top has always worked for us -

When people are happy with their outfits, and the food, music, and drinks are  happening on a Party scale, the White Night event can be lots of fun.

Plenty of people (myself included) choose a simple white tee shirt worn with shorts, skirt, or khakis - my hope for you is that the fellow who wore his Azamara bathrobe to the party during our January cruise, is not on your upcoming sailing.  (We've enjoyed Azamara since 2011, and that was a first.  Hoping it won't be repeated.)

  9. Yesterday I checked the Azamara Upgrades menu under Booked Guests.  I listed my name and reservation number for our October cruise, and found the form to bid for an upgrade.  Which I then filled in and clicked.

It surprised me because while following the pricing for the cruise, I had thought CCs to be no longer available.  Yet, the offer to upgrade was there.

    We shall see.

And I'll update here if our bid is successful.

  10. Thank you, euro cruiser and Vineyard View.

A few years ago we broke up a pair of cruises that stopped/started in Venice, with a week at a villa north of Turin.  The RT train Venice/Torino was easy and pleasant and we very much enjoyed our taste of Italy's Piedmont region.

Next year may not be as smooth, given increased post-Covid travel and the expected pilgrims for the Jubilee.

We have much to think about.  And a need for speed with those decisions if we're to snag decent airfare...

    Again, many thanks.

  11. This topic is quite compelling for us - we've booked a cruise ending in Rome on April 11, 2025, and had intended to spend an extra week.   A few days in Rome, then south for the archeological treasures:  Pompeii and Herculaneum, perhaps Paestum.

We haven't an interest in the Jubilee 2025 activities and wonder, now, about the expected crowds. Our timing would bring us to Rome just 9 days prior to Easter Sunday.

We'd selected our cruise based on both the itinerary and our preference to travel outside Europe's "busy" season.  Will it be possible to slip away from Civitavecchia and avoid most crowds, or should we plan to extend the trip farther from Rome, say, Sicily?

I truly appreciate any and all opinions here, and thank you in advance for yours!

  12. Our favorite veranda cabin is a V3 - 6031 - which we've reserved for a sailing in 2026.  Fewer cabins on deck 6 mean fewer people in the hallways, speedier cabin service,  potentially more stable ride in rough weather and we've never yet been disturbed by noise from the Cabaret Lounge.

  13. Thank you so much, aliaschief, for your posts and your photos.  I've enjoyed sharing your voyage but most of all, I appreciate your comments about Onward.  The stories of bad balcony chairs, worn carpeting, and broken/damaged furnishings had me crossing her voyages off my list.

However, you have filled out the story with plenty of details and I feel I've no longer anything to fear.  Onward's itineraries are now on my radar, joining Journey, Quest, and Pursuit for potential cruises.  Thanks again!

  14. We recently booked a Perry Golf cruise for 2026.  Working with our usual TA, we booked our cabin (with the benefits provided by the TA) and then, booked one of us as a single for the Perry Golf portion.

It took an exploratory email or two and then one phone call (probably not necessary, but I valued the reassurance of speaking with a Perry Golf rep) and the reservations went through without a hitch.

It's a splurge for sure and I SO wish that Perry would permit a ride-along, non-golf spouse on a few of the courses, but, we're on the books and very happy.

  15. The 7-night Med cruise prices in USD were laughable.

I freely employed the None of the Above option.  And then I left what I feel to be useful comments in the provided boxes ; )

  16. We're in full agreement with Pirate Wife re. the dreadful and very loud music in the Sunset bar during January's cruise on Journey.  Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett were the wrong choice for these cruisers - especially at 7:30am - but when the tunes  switched over to the 60's (a little "Louie Louie" with your Energizer, anyone?), it went from bad to completely unpalatable.

Please, Azamara!  Jettison the obnoxious canned breakfast music from this otherwise lovely aft open space!

  17. Thank you to the several above posters who reminded me of the additional Azamara birthday treats:  signed card! towel elephant! (Well done on the Towel B'Day Cake, fruitmachine!).

Corinna121, I was mistaken when I said to use 'Addon.'  I used the Special Requests icon to report my birthday - this selection incurs no cost.  And we just used it again for my husband's upcoming birthday on Journey  : )

  18. I celebrated my birthday during our Journey cruise in January of this year.  We were in a CC suite and so were able to breakfast in Aqualina, where Ruby and her staff sang "Happy Birthday" to me.  I loved it.

And when we returned to our stateroom there was a birthday banner and balloons.  I felt special!

And yes, there was the offer of a discounted bottle of beverage - the day before, we'd encountered a couple roaming the ship with their anniversary coupon, seeking the sommelier so they could select something special for their occasion.  (I was grateful, but we didn't take advantage of this offer.)

And finally, the White Night deck party happened to occur that evening.  Seriously, one of my best-ever birthdays!  I highly recommend checking the Addon box and letting the Azamara staff and crew help you celebrate your husband's birthday!

I am currently on the Journey, sailing for the first time since the pandemic. Both DH and I think the food is substantially better than in the past!

on a slightly disappointing note, I asked about the Reistafel and was told that “since COVID” these have been disbanded.

When we sailed on Journey in February, there was no Rice Table.  I asked about it twice, on the first day and mid-cruise, and was simply told that we would not be having one.
