  1. We will be taking our first Viking River Cruise in September, sailing the Rhine. I have a few questions about embarkation day. What time does boarding typically start? Are cabins available upon boarding? Is lunch served on Day 1? And do people then come and go throughout the day, being back on ship for dinner, but then free to head back into town (Amsterdam in our case) for the late evening if we want? Thanks in advance for any responses!
  2. We were on the 1/25th sailing (Partial Panama Canal) and definitely no reservations for any shows. And getting a good seat at the 9:00 shows for four people was not a problem at all if you arrived 10 minutes early.
  3. Having just completed my cruise last week, here is some more specific information. We took Lyft to the terminal, and they drop off right at the terminal. When we disembarked, the prices on both Lyft and Uber were extremely high. So we walked out of Terminal 2, went about 1/4 of a mile straight out of the terminal (crossing one street) and joined about 100 other people sitting and waiting for rides. Relatively easy, even with luggage. We then priced out both Lyft and Uber, and since we were willing to wait 45 minutes, the price to Hobby Airport was $50, versus $150-$200 if we were in a hurry. Worked very well for us - but our plane was a little later in the day, so no hurry.
  4. I've read that Uber can not go directly to the Galveston Port. So where do they drop off/pick up? Is it easily walkable with luggage?
  5. Looking at a Panama Canal cruise in January 2024 and having a hard time getting a definitive answer or whether these ships use the old or new locks. Can anyone help me with: Norwegian Gem, Celebrity Constellation, Holland America Rotterdam and Ruby Princess. Thank you!
  6. What are your thoughts on Magen's Bay vs Honeymoon Beach (Water Island) for a fun but low key beach day in January. And feel free to comment on other beach options if you wish. There are 5 ships in port that day, if that makes a difference. Also, I have heard that Honeymoon Beach was closed in August and haven't seen any posts about it since. We are looking for a beach option where we can grab a bite to eat and a beer and can rent chairs! Thanks!
