Lol we Michiganders love our hockey lol. What area are you from? I live in east pa now but moved from the Grand Rapids area about 8 years ago.
Originally, Marquette, where they flood the parking lot of the city municipal building during winter and make it into an ice rink :)
But I've been all over...Cadillac, Saginaw, Flint...now Lansing.
Pa huh? Have pre-season tix to the Wings/Pens game next week, as my ex-hub is from PA and my son is a self-proclaimed Pens fan (cuz his dad is) :'( so I promised I'd take him to see them play, now that our divisions are all shook up. Should be a fun season!

We were on the Valor during the playoffs and we couldn't watch the games.
Note to self: no cruising during the playoffs!

Trust me they show little to no hockey on any of the channels even the sports bar. :( American's mostly watch football and basketball. Hockey is more or less a Canadian thing :p lol
GO WINGS GO!! GO PACKERS GO!! GO IRISH GO!! :D
Oh no it's not. It's very much an American thing (says the wife and mother of 3 hockey players, who has a mudroom that smells like a locker room). You can't grow up in Michigan without hockey. What's football??!
No..you won't get pre-season onboard. It's hard enough to find pre-season at home. I'm with you; I'd MUCH rather watch hockey.
And if I may add to the consensus: GO WINGS!!!!! (3rd generation fan)

That's because fish are afraid of Wolverines. :)
:pNO they aren't!!:D LOL I was just snorkeling at Money Bar 2 weeks ago and saw tons of fish, barracuda and 2 spotted eagle rays. Another nod to Money Bar!

Thanks for the input' date=' if we get on the ship early are the pools open or do we have to wait for those to open? What I am debating is sitting in my favorite bar to eat some lunch and drink cheap beer and wait for the crowds to die down or get on the ship early and drink expensive beer with nothing to do besides drink expensive beer? :D
The thing that is most appealing about the FTTF is getting your luggage more quickly. I plan to pack my bathing suit and a change of clothes in my carry on but I want to be able to get ready for dinner and I didn't know how long luggage took to get to you.[/quote']
"Cheap beer" is an oxymoron onboard. Be advised that no such thing exists lol
Your luggage will be to you with plenty of time to get ready for dinner. On Fantasy in Dec (same size as Elation), we had ours by 1:00 pm.

I was just in Mexico for 8 days for my honeymoon last month and it's perfectly safe in that area. We spent a day on Cozumel, taking the ferry over from the mainland, and it was beautiful. We rented a scooter and took it to the "other side" of the island, which was gorgeous. Undeveloped mostly and has a few bars/restaurants. We finally ended up at the Money Bar where I rented snorkel gear for about $300 pesos for 2 and walked right out into some great snorkeling. I saw 2 spotted eagle rays, barracuda and flounder, as well as some nice coral and tons of smaller fish. The time before that (on a cruise), we went to Chaankanab but it was really windy and wasn't a nice day to be on/in the water.

*These aren't my pics..mine are at home but I was just here last week during an AI in Playa Del Carmen.
Tulum Beach, Mexico and Tulum Mayan ruins...most beautiful beach I've ever seen.
OOPS...missed the "ports of call" requirement. But in theory..you can take the ferry from Coz to Playa..and a quick cab ride south to Tulum! LOL
This beach had absolutely the softest sand I've ever felt and I've been to a few of the good ones..Magens, Grand Turk, Puerto Rico...Tulum is the most beautiful beach I've ever seen.

I have posted before about my daughter and her friend being left on the dock in Nassau.
What do you want to know?
It is really scary for your family.
Carnival offers very minimal help.
And it is very expensive.
Oh, and watch the taxi drivers in the Bahamas.
They do a thing with tickets and filling the van.
I did not really understand what had happened to cause my daughter to miss the boat until last April when they tried to pull it on my sister and I in Freeport.
But we are mean old women and it did not work so well on us as it did on the kids.
Why in the world would they want you to miss the boat??

Loving your review so far :D
Hockey debate??? The only debate is which team is second best AFTER THE DETROIT RED WINGS :D
come on with a name like hockeyluver you know I had to chime in on that one!! Thank God for junior hockey this year!!
Our dear new friend John is a Penguins fan. The debate was really never a debate because only an idiot or a Penguins fan would argue that LeMieux is a better player/captain/all-around-better guy than the esteemed Steve Yzerman. ;)

Pink!! Don't talk about Scottie like that. He's more like a gorilla than a fish ;)
There was a hockey debate? Hmmm...I must have been sitting quietly in a corner, behaving myself and avoiding such shenanigans lol:eek:

And I fear I may appear in one of these pics lol

Those of you who have sailed from San Juan...has anyone swam in luminesent lake??
It wasn't on a cruise but we vacationed in Puerto Rico last year and kayaked the bioluminescent bay in El Fajardo. It was an awesome experience. They run the tours after dark and Fajardo is a decent ways from San Juan. But if you get a chance...go!
Hockey in the sports bar?

Actually, it's because Wings fans are everywhere. Not just cruisers ;) Take a look at the stands at any Red Wings away game. Sometimes there's just as many Wings fans as there are home team fans. It's what tends to happen when your team has been one of the best in the entire history of the NHL, and being one of the original 6 means we've had generations of loyal fans ;) LGRW!!!!
