  1. Also beware of stairs, pool decks, hand rails, wet balconies, spilled food in the buffet and of course, hot coffee.

My kids don't like it but I make them wear helmets, knee and elbow pads for the entire cruise.

p.s. If you eat the ice cream too fast you get brain freeze. ;p

    Best. CC. Response. Ever. :loudcry:

  2. All has to do with the wind and tides. I know in Hawaii, it was "so many days after a full moon, on this side of the island" where conditions would be optimal for man-o-war to come ashore.

When we were at Horseshoe bay last month, there were a half dozen washed up on shore. People would mark them so others would not step on them and get stuck. And eventually, the life guards on patrol would remove them from the beach.

But the beach was open. Every one was in the water. You just had to understand that there were a few in the water at that time.

They're actually box jelly fish which are a lot smaller than the man-o-war. Also it's 10 days after the full moon.

  3. Hmm, I'm not really sure how to respond to this. I ask for suggestions for a new place for us to go and you respond by telling me you won't tell. :o

As for people not suggesting places to go to others on cc...isn't that what we are here for? At least that's why I'm here. This is a community to share information, get ideas, suggestions, and report experiences. That's why I first came to CC and that's the reason I remain on these boards. So many people have helped me out with suggestions and I would like to think that I have returned the favor and helped people out as well. That's why we pull together as a cruising community...to help others out. ;) If you don't want to make a suggestion to me on a place to go in St Kitts, that's fine, but I'm not sure why you posted to tell me that? Not helpful at all. Just saying...

Cruise Critic, although there are thousands and thousands of people on here, is only a minuscule amount of people that cruise yearly. Most people have not even heard of this community, therefore usually taking ship sponsored tours or going places that friends have suggested or from land vacations. As the industry continues to grow, so with the amount of people that herd the ports...sooner or later, word gets out about those "quiet" places (or the businesses at these places want to draw more business and advertise more on social media/in port/websites, pay cabbies to take people there and so on). But I hardly doubt that suggesting favorite places on cc is going to overrun a place...365 days of the year to cruise and many, many islands to explore...I will continue to share my experiences with others in hope that they also have an enjoyable day at a beautiful beach...because that's why I'm a part of this cc community. :)

I couldn't agree with you more! The original response was kind of out of line. Thanks!

  4. We are on the 11/12 cruise and we are using Pier 4 in Old San Juan (our PCC sent us this information and someone else on our role call got the same information). So, if you are booking the Hyatt House in order to be close to the Pan Am pier, this may not be the best move.

Last year when we cruised Gem out of San Juan NCL used the Pan Am pier and traffic on embarkation day was a nightmare! We're on the 11/26 cruise and if what you're saying (were told) is true this is great news!!

  5. Our story is we were booked in an Aft Facing Penthouse on Pearl. Shortly (within days) after final payment the price dropped almost 50%. I called AARP EXPEDIA and asked them to contact NCL about it. NCL was very accommodating. What they gave us was 50% of the difference in a future cruise credit. Worked out fine as far as we were concerned since they could have told us to pack sand.

  6. I haven't been to Megan's Bay in a few years. Can you still rent floats for the day? If so, do you remember the cost or type they had? Trying to see if I need to buy them before we go. Thanks!

Don't remember the cost but they're the thick rubber mats.

  7. We last cruised Dawn in 2012 and are cruising her again in Nov out of San Juan. For any of you who have cruised her since the refurb - Are the TVs now interactive? Can you check your account balance, reservations, excursions etc.?
