  1. All I want is Guy's Burgers...I know they won't have it on the Splendor when we sail in May, but hoping they'll put it in sometime before we sail again in Feb, 2014! ;)

I will be on Splendor in Jan 2014. I am hoping for Guy's Burgers as well. I hope they keep the sushi bar and not the taste bar because I do enjoy the sushi on the promenade with a glass of wine from the casino bar.

  2. I am booked on conquest cabin # 2216 in ten days. What is the layout of this cabin?? Thanks in advance!!

2216 is a porthole cabin with a single twin bed near the porthole side of the cabin. There will also be a couch that can be converted to a bed. This cabin is close in size as the outer ocean view cabin so it has more floor space than a regular interior cabin.

  3. I had 1A porthole cabin 2217 on the Glory in September out of NYC to Canada/New England. I liked the larger floor space than a regular interior. And you can't beat the portholes for less than a regular interior. I also like being up front where there was little hall traffic. You just have to get use to the noise of the waves and port thruster noise in the front 1A's, but hey you are on a ship and it adds to the experience.

I liked 2217 on Glory so I booked 2217 again on Splendor for Jan 2014 Florida/Bahamas out of NYC.

  4. You did an excellent review. I enjoyed the photos and your writing. I was on Glory in Sep 2012 on the Canada/New England sailing out of NYC. The 4 ports (BOS, Portland, St John and Halifa were great for walking/touring on your own. You should give the Canadian ports a try.

It was nice seeing this Glory review especially since I had just sailed on her in September. I enjoyed seeing so many familiar photos of the ship.

Also excellent port and food photos. Enjoy your future sailings and thank you for all the work you did on the review.

  5. 2011

Carnival Splendor (dry dock dates: TBD) RedFrog Rum Bar, Blue Iguana Tequila Bar, Punchliners Comedy Club & Brunch presented by George Lopez, and DJ IRIE Spin’versity.

Guy's burgers is not listed for the Splendor 2.0 update. Does Splendor get Guy's or does it already have it?

  6. I have been on 4 Carnival cruises. Inspiration in Sept 2003 was my first Ship also out of Tampa with Western Caribbean ports Cozumel, Costa Maya, Grand Cayman, and Belize. This is a nice ship. Not too big and easy to navigate. All great ports. I have since been on Triumph, Victory and Liberty. All great ships but Inspiration in one of my favorites.

Tampa is a nice port. Easy to get in and out. Tampa has some nice views sailing out of port.

Great photos purplemusik. Thanks for sharing.

  7. The key to enjoying this steak is to remember that the MDR uses the european method of judging meat doneness. the Europe method tends to be one level more done, than the american method. So if you want a "medium" done steak, order it "Medium Rare".

I agree with this method when ordering the flat iron. On my last cruise on Liberty, I ordered it medium rare both times and it came out just under medium, exactly the way I like it. I always enjoy a sirloin type steak so I do like the Carnival flat iron. Try this ordering method. Hopefully it works. Enjoy.

  8. I sailed the 1/15/11 Carnival Liberty. I had a 750 ml sized wine bottle in my carry on. When my carry on went through the scanner, they flagged my bag and inspected it and I did show them the bottle. People with larger 1.5 lt did have to surrender it. They are being strict so pack accordingly. Excellent trip on the Liberty by the way and I did purchase the $110 level 5 bottle wine package. All of the wines were very good, just the Beringer White Zinfandel was on the sweet side but still a good wine. My favorite was the Fetzer Red Zinfandel which was very good, not too sweet and it will go with all foods and meats.
