  1. My dive knife isn't that big but even though I've never had to use it on a dive, I just know the first time I don't bring it will be the time I do need it 😉  Never had a problem getting it on a ship (Princess) in my checked luggage, but they usually do "find" it when I reboard after diving.  Subsequent ports are not usually a problem getting it back for diving as they keep it near the debarkation exit.  However, the BAD thing is that at the end of the cruise, they usually give the knife to the port security folks and I have to track them down to get it before leaving the terminal.  That can be a big PITA if you're in a hurry to catch an early flight.

I was looking at Delta and Virgin Atlantic. It seems the flights we are interested are on the same airline but under different code names.  i.e.  Virgin Atlantic flight #_ _ - operating as Delta flight #--_-..    Same times; same flight but even different airfare. We are club members with Delta so would get club access so Delta seemed logical.  The one difference I see possible is the cruise dates being changed, which has happened with a later cruise (Sail date has been moved up 8 days). With EZ Air the change would be taken care of but through the airline there could be "change fee" ?

I do believe you get Delta Club access if you are in Business Class on an Delta international flight.

Don't you get Delta club access even if you're flying on a Delta Code Share Flight?

    Which Flight is cheaper?

The Princess "Journey"  magazine for UK customers was released this week had a little section on Enchanted Princess which got me intrigued.  Apparently "she has more pools and hot tubs than any other Princess ship".  I've done a quick deck plan comparison with Sky Princess and can't spot any differences. Anyone got any insight here?

    Not true by my count:

    Enchanted has

2 main lido pools, 1 retreat pool, 1 small wake view pool, 3 lido deck hot tubs by the main pool, 4 hot tubs on the sun deck.

Total 4 pools, 7 hot tubs, same for Sky.

Regal has 4 pools and 6 hot tubs, Ruby has 5 pools and 7 hot tubs, Caribbean has 5 pools plus a large youth pool/splash area, 7 hot tubs, and so on.

Maybe there are some small wading pools in the kids areas??

For anyone keeping track of deck plans, Princess has released (not necessarily today, but I just noticed it after perusing) separate deck plans for both Enchanted & Sky to be used beginning in November 2021. Might be helpful to some!

ENCHANTED will be using the new deck plan for voyages sailing after November 30, 2021 (itineraries during this timeframe are not yet released). The changes are the following:

    • DECK 10 CARIBE: Deluxe Balcony cabins C736 and C737 will change categories from DD to DE.
    • DECK 11 BAJA: Deluxe Balcony cabins B732 and B733 will change categories from DD to DE.
    • DECK 12 ALOHA: Deluxe Balcony cabins A732 and A733 will change categories from DD to DE.
    • DECK 14 RIVIERA: Deluxe Balcony cabins R728 and R729 will change categories from DD to DE.
    • DECK 17 SUN: Penthouse Suite cabins S109, S110, S111, S112, S114, and S115 will change categories from S4 to S6 and become Vista Suite cabins.

There were no changes made to any public areas on the new deck plan.

    ----------------------------------------------

So we're booked on the sailing the departs ON 11/30/21... which deck plan do we use?  It's confusing since it says AFTER Nov 30 and we will be on her "after" 11/30 but the cruise begins ON 11/30.  Semantics can be tricky sometimes...☺️

The long awaited 3 day sale on an unnamed site is taking place September 24-26, 2020.

I saw nothing about the upcoming sale on their web site.  Where did you get your information about it?

    Nevermind - Found it!

    Thanks

  6. When did you apply to Carnival?  If it was pre-COVID it wouldn't be a fair comparison to today's situation.

Anyway, to answer your question, we applied back in February using the status match program and my wife got her # in a few days, but it took a few weeks and a few e-mails and phone calls for mine to come through even though the applications were identical and submitted at the same time.

    Good luck

Because Carnival Corp is the provider and originator of the benefit I prefer to abide by their requirements.

    1. Fax or regular mail.  There is no exception for email submittal.

    2. Submit no less than 3 weeks before sailing.  There is no requirement to own shares within 90 days.

This could all change in a heartbeat, but it is easy to think that someone at Princess is putting their own spin on the submittals.  There needs to be a uniform set of rules and requirements.

Boy, I sure don't understand your reasoning/comments.  Even if "Carnival Corp is the provider and originator of the benefit," Princess and other cruise lines under the carnival corporate structure are individual lines and can develop their own policies and procedures.  If Princess says you can now use e-mail to submit documentation and requests for the shareholder credit, and others have stated that this new process works, why would you doubt this?  Why does there there need "to be a uniform set of rules and requirements" for all the different brands under the carnival umbrella?  If it works for Princess, so be it.  Other Carnival lines may still insist on mail or fax which is their choice.  Personally, I applaud Princess for this change to make it easier for the cruising public as well as their employees working from home.

  8. OK, now I understand why some were/are upset about the 3 month requirement as it relates to shore excursions.  However, I always just use my OBC for gratuities and purchases on board and rarely purchase excursions from the cruise line so I never really thought about that aspect.

What I do find somewhat surprising is that the OBC for stockholders and military is a GIFT from the cruiseline.  It's free money and yet some get upset when the giver puts restrictions on its use... just sayin'

It was changed to sell more shore excursions.  If it is again 3 months, I would expect it to revert to the unlimited when COVID settles down.

Selling shore excusions is a profit center, even for shareholders.

Sorry, I don't see the connection between requiring a brokerage statement within three months of getting a shareholder credit and selling more excursions...

    Please explain

  10. The terminology they use is confusing to me.

Have you ever heard/seen "departures through to and including..."  a certain date?

I can understand 'to and including' and 'through and including,' but 'through to and including' has me somewhat baffled as to what they are really trying to say.

In the long run it doesn't really matter to me since I've already cancelled our Oct 31 2020 Seaside/Mera cruise, but I imagine others still booked on the 10/31 departures are wondering.

  11. have you checked for availability of specific cabins for the two 7-day cruises?  For availability to show for the 15 day cruise, the SAME cabin must be available for the two shorter cruises.  The "problem" is either that or just an IT problem on the website  A call to MSC or your TA should be able to get you an answer.

  12. MSC website said for those booked in balconies, suites or YC cabins OBC would be $100 per stateroom (dbl occ) for cruises of 6 nights or less and $200 per stateroom for 7 nights and over.

However, our 7 night Seaside YC booking was changed to Mera and the cruise details online appear to show $200 OBC per PERSON.  We'll just have to see what we actually get, that is if we even get to sail...

  13. Thanks for the info about CDS bankruptcy, I hadn't heard that.  Thanks also for the opinions on the shows themselves just in case they are still performing, just in case the ship sails, just in case Florida is open for business, just in case etc, etc, etc...

  14. First time sailing on MSC...

Does MSC treat OBC as a comingled pool of money for everyone in the cabin to share or is it only allowed to be "spent" by the passenger it was originally assigned to?

For instance, If I have $100 OBC and my wife also has $100, will we owe money if my charges are $80 and hers are $120?

On our other cruise lines, we wouldn't owe anything else since the OBCs can be applied to any/all charges made by cabin occupants.  Wondering if it's the same on MSC.

    Thanks
