  1. It seems to be about 50-50.... ....those that would stand up for what is right and those that would cower an slink away.

I would look that person in the eye and tell them "enough!". But I would also stand my ground, it is my table I would not crawl away to another table and I would be sure to speak directly to the Maitre D' and advise of the situation.

  2. In order to bring a service dog, it will require certification. There are limited numbers of professional organizations accredited to issue certification. Any one could go online and buy a bogus "support dog" certificate. This new policy will slam the door on the bogus fur baby certificate. So glad!!!!

adding: Just spoke to our dog trainer ( stubborn great Dane puppy), she is a service dog trainer and thinks this decision is outstanding.

  3. Shared table? Love it!

Here are a few of the folks we have met over the many years.....

    * The gentlemen (and their wives) who jerry-rigged the oxygen scrubber that saved the Astronauts on Apollo 13.

    * Found ourselves sitting with one of my customers (we did not know we were planning the same cruise).

    * Pittsburgh Pirate pitcher and his family.

    * Gentleman and wife who was a private investment counselor for British royalty.

    * A renowned writer who wrote multiple books on the great ships of the early 1900's

So, I say to those who hate sitting with others, you have no idea what you are missing!

  4. Just for comparision, go look up today's one week cruise pricing. Now, compare to this pricing:

    SS Norway, 1981

    Inside $960 per person

    outside $1,290 per person

    pls port taxes

Yes, drinks were in the 50 cent range

So, which do you prefer? Today's very low cabin price? Or the 1981 prices?

Oh, almost forgot. If you doubt what I have listed, I copied directly from the NCL brochure covering the dates of January 4 thru June 14, 1981

So if RCI or any other cruise line tries hard to upsell, you might understand why they are looking for those nickels and dimes.

  5. PS some folks think the $2 bill is cute. BUT, it is often refused at foreign banks and stores. Thus making it difficult for the crew to use. Stick with $1 bills.

As for tips: $1 to the waiter in the Suite lounge per drink. And if we ask for dinner reservations, or solve a cabin problem or book a tour.... consierge gets a nice gratuity at the end of the cruise.

  6. You can go slop the hogs and then immediately go into the dining room. And if you dare complain, you will be beaten down the "I don't care what others are wearing". You only care if the guy is drunk, wearing a Cozumel t-shirt advising you how to have adult activity with him in public, all the while using every foul word, in every combination, in front of your kids.
