  1. I forgot to mention that we just visited a beautiful botanical garden on Guadeloupe during our SeaDream trip last March, but someone told us the botanical garden on St. Lucia was even better. So that might be an option for you to consider.   Have a great trip!

  2. I do not recall it being hard to enter or exit, but I also do not recall any significant waves, so maybe I’m wrong.  A lot of island beaches seem to have a two or three foot ridge of sand that can make it difficult to get a firm footing, especially when exiting.

  3. That looks like the beach on Nevis where the bar with the “Killer Bee” drink is located.   We were there in late February.  It was a beautiful beach but I did not see any decent snorkeling from off the beach.  Of course you will be on a catamaran, so who can know if there is any good snorkeling offshore.

  4. As I recall, Soufrieres Bay is right next to the two Pitons of St. Lucia, so it will be a lovely place to anchor.  We have snorkeled at the beach between the Pitons, and it was really very charming. I believe it is called Sugar Beach, and is a lovely beach, and the snorkeling was definitely worthwhile.  There is also a very nice hotel right there where you might try to get a day pass.  I am not sure if they offer that or not, but it would be worth a try.

I am not sure how familiar you are with St. Lucia. They have a lot of attractions around the island, but travel time can be an issue you need to be aware of.  We did the hot volcanic mud baths, and that was great fun, but be sure to wear an old bathing suit, as the mud does not easily wash out.  Also I have heard there are some nice hiking trails near the Pitons, but we have never been to any of them.  All in all, I think it will be a great stop for you.

  5. So if I am a Cunard World Club Member, and I want to be one of the first to book a QE 2025 Caribbean trip on the March 6th date from above, should I call the UK number at 2:30 am my time (US Central Standard time), which I am thinking is 8:30am London time?

  6. There is supposed to be a big announcement this February and accompanying release of itineraries to follow soon after.  Word is Queen Victoria will be sailing the Caribbean based from Miami for Winter 2025/2026.

Cunard have said Queen Elizabeth will be doing Caribbean cruises out of Florida during the winter 2025/2026 season so you have that to look forward to since you love Caribbean cruises. I anticipate an official announcement of those itineraries sometime this month. The information I've found so far is that QE will be sailing Caribbean itineraries out of Miami from October 2025 into April 2026.

Thanks for the heads up!  That would be perfect for us.  We are on Queen Elizabeth this August to Alaska, maybe we could do some future booking onboard that trip.  I have also notified my travel agent to be on the lookout.  Any guess as to when the bookings would first open?

  8. With you guys being frequent Celebrity passengers (we are too), I feel confident you will enjoy Cunard.  I’d have to say we would pick Cunard over Celebrity, but Cunard has very few Caribbean cruises, which we love, so we end up on Celebrity.  We think both lines are very good.  Plus Queens Grill should be extra special!

  9. Wow, thanks for this thread!   We are heading down to Galveston tomorrow for our first ever New Year's Cruise, and it's on the Harmony.   To top it all off, my wife's birthday is January 1.  I had never thought about reserving a table, but it does seem logical.   A lot of folks on the ship and not that many tables.  I imagine we will just mill about the balloon drop area in the middle of the crowd and have a great time.

If you were leaving from Philipsburg, would you still stay in Grand Case?

It’s just a little bit longer cab ride from the airport,  so yes we would.  But we will typically spend at least two days on island before cruise departure day.

I am sure there are plenty of great places to stay in and around Philipsburg, and I would certainly likely stay near the port if I was just flying in the evening prior to departure.

In over 20 years I don't think we've ever seen a price cut.  If it is the mid-February that you are talking about, that is an $800 savings per person for the Deck 2 stateroom.  Subtracting the cancellation fee they will charge for the St. Thomas, that is a huge deal.  I'd grab it before they change their mind.  I have no idea why they would be doing this.  As long as it isn't a soft charter, you should be okay.

All other things being equal, my personal preference would be to go for the St. Martin primarily because we have not been happy with any of the hotels at St. Thomas, Ritz-Carlton included.

It's the last week in February, same $800 per person savings.  We would end up with a stop at Saba instead of Anguilla.  We have never been to Anguilla, but have very recently herd good things about it.

  12. I just recently noticed that their has been a price reduction on several cruises leaving from St. Martin for the 2024 Caribbean Season.  Back last September, we  looked at one leaving in February from St Thomas on a Saturday, and one from St Martin leaving on a Sunday.  At the time we were looking, the prices were the same.  The itineraries were pretty much the same, but with very slight differences.  We love both St. Martin and St Thomas.  We ended up booking the one from St. Thomas based on a slight preference for its itinerary.  Now I see the St. Martin voyage has been reduced in price by a reasonably significant amount.

We are wondering if we should switch, being that we did not have that strong a preference to begin with.  I called SeaDream, and they said it seemed to be just something marketing was offering at present.  They said the St. Martin voyage was actually more booked than the St Thomas one at this point.  I asked whether there any signs of large groups booked on either voyage and was told there was not.

So I am wondering if this type of thing is normal for SeaDream, or if anyone has any advice about this type of thing with SeaDream.  I worry about changing and then wishing I hadn't based on something I had not thought about.

    Thanks

As far as shows are concerned if you keep reading on the internet, you will find so many people don't actually go to the shows, just like so many people now opt for MDT.  Because they don't like to be told times I guess.  For the shows, people reserve the shows just in case.  You will have no issues going to a show, without a reservation, because a huge amount of people will forget or just not go,except for the adult comedy which seems to be very popular.

This is what I was hoping to hear, and it is in line with my prior trips on Oasis and Harmony.  I am thinking we will be fine, and I was just needlessly worried since this was the first time I noticed all the shows listed as “sold out”.

  14. We are booked for a trip on the Wonder of the Seas at the end of April.  We noticed on the app that all the evening entertainment shows are showing “sold out”.

Is this normal?  Do they open up more seats as we get closer to departure?  Anyone have prior experience with just walking up to the theatre before the show on the Wonder?

    Thanks!
