Based on this, I think you will find there may be cruise lines available to better suit your needs. Have you looked into Princess or Celebrity yet?

I enjoy Carnival, and have fun watching the craziness by the pool, when I want to and for a short time.  lol  But I also need quiet time sitting in a chair reading my book and relaxing.  I have not tried other lines, mostly due to price.  But I don't think I would like the stuffy attitude some of the other quite line would have.  I do wish Carnival would do a better job of enforcing the chair holding issue.  One person is sitting in a chair and has the entire row saved for the 10 min her kids and friends come by?  Rude.  But I will give the Havana area a try.  Sure hope it is all I am dreaming of.

  2. I have not been stayed in the Havana area yet, but we do have 2 booked.   I think it will be worth the money to me, mostly because I don't like the loud, chaotic main pool areas.  I cruise to have a relaxing vacation.  I do agree with others that if Carnival did a better job, controlling the CHOGS this area may not be as important to me.  People are saying they feel they would miss stuff on the Lido because they are not there, but I miss things happening on the Lido because I am afraid to leave my chair in serenity and not find another comparable one.    This way I can come and go as I please and always have a spot.  No loud music, no screaming kids, no chogs, no splashing in the pool, and not overrun hot tubs.  Just my thoughts.  Very excited.

  3. We are flying in on Friday morning, for a Saturday cruise out of Galveston.   I don't really want to stay that night on the island, because the prices for one night hotel are outrageous.   I don't want to stay as far away as the airport (IAH).  Some place in between with something to do, not NASA related, but maybe someplace to walk around and eat dinner.  Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Thank You

  4. Sotrry, I can't answer your question about the meds, but I wonder if you are driving or flying to the port?  The Orthopedist I work for wont let the patients fly for quite some time, if they have developed a clot after a total hip or knee.  Please check with your doctor if you plan on flying.

I have to agree with brookeq.  half moon cay is one of my favorites.  Grand Cayman's 7 mile beach is that very white sandy beach you think of from the photos.

The prettiest beach i have been to is half  moon cay (bahamas/private island).

  6. 1. don't plan every min, take time to just relax

    2. pack bigger sized clothes for the 2nd half of the cruise, even if I don't actually gain that much weight, there is always a bloating factor. sorry tmi

    3. don't sweat the small stuff,  there will always be something that doesn't go the way you want.  if that happens on the first day, don't let it affect the rest of your trip.

  7. I have a question.  Any of the all inclusive beaches in Cozumel have decent wifi?  I will be in school full time for our next cruise and I know I cannot rely on the ship to submit any homework.  I plan on trying to work a week ahead for my online classes but I can not post to any discussion boards in advance.  Wondering if I could do some work at a seated area around any of the beachs?  Thanks

  8. What may like a PITA to some is a requirement to others.  Before my back surgery I could not sit on a chair on the deck or in one of the loungers.  So my options would be not to cruise.  As well as having severe sensitivity to the sun (Lupus) having a chair with an cover could allow someone to still go on a cruise and go to the beach with their family.  There are some people who choose to take extra steps to still live the life they want, rather than not being able to enjoy life.   These are my 2 cents as someone with disabilities.

  9. We have some that fold up and have straps to be used as a backpack. We love them. I don't see why not. You would have to carry them on. and the cabins are kinda small, so they will take up some room. I have never seen it on the DO NOT BRING list. as much as I love ours I would not want to lug the on a cruise. Maybe different if we were driving to port.

  10. If I'm understanding your question right, cruise cash is pre-purchased and is applied to your sign and sail account for you to use for what ever your want on the boat. Bar cash is again pre-purchased but can only be used to purchase drinks. I don't know why people buy bar cash instead of cruise cash? Maybe to limit the amount someone spends on drinks or Unless someone is gifted bar cash to buy a few drinks onboard? I don't know what happens if you don't drink all your moneys worth if you buy bar cash?

  11. I did search on cruise critic as well as looking through Carnivals website before asking this. My husband wants to pre order cheers before the January price increase. The last cruise we did not get the cheers package due to an on and off again stomach issue I have. If I'm not drinking it is not worth it for both of us to get it (one room, I'm sure you get my drift) Now our Cruise leaves mid January and the Holidays is the worst time for me to get these issues. All the food, sweets, drinks (and my lack of self-control:D) When I do get a flare up it can take up to 6 weeks to calm down. If we pre order the Cheers and then it turns out I cannot drink on another cruise can we cancel the package before we board? On one cruise I only ate a baked potato for dinner each night because it was all I could handle..AGH. I am really gonna try to double up on my meds and not over do it this holiday season. But has anyone had to cancel the cheers?

    Thanks in advance,

  12. We mostly do our own thing, booking independent. The only time I would book a Ship excursion is if it was a really long excursion, such as Tulum. That excursion takes all day. from the moment you leave the boat until just before leaving the port for the day. That type of excursion I would consider taking a ship tour, just for fear of being late. Other than that, its cheaper and usually less people doing your own thing.

  13. I buy my gift cards at 10% off but then turn around and buy a couple hundred dollars of Cruise Cash with them so I don’t have to stand in the other line at check in as I set up a strictly cash account. Then if I need to add more I can use a kiosk or go to Guest Services.

    ^^ this :D

  14. I know you can go to the bar in the steakhouse just for a drink or glass of wine. Can you order an appetizer at the bar? Maybe a cheese plate? We will be on the dream in January and plan on going to the steakhouse for a glass of wine or brandy either way. Just wondering? Thanks.
