  1. Please don't flame me :D Not that I plan on doing this, but just wondering. With your time dinning, if you go to dinner at say, 5:45 and then go back at 8:45 for second dinner, will they turn you away? I know with the early/late seating dinner you cannot do both. Again, my husband and I were just talking about it at dinner and just got to wondering.

  2. We always book a year out. Mostly because its just easier for us to pay it off in smaller increments. However, this cruise we got huge price drops from about 5 to 3 months out. for the last month the price has been steadily increasing. The cruise is Jan 24th, 7 day eastern, we book a balcony at around $750/pp and dropped down to $513/pp. Now the price is back up to $749/99. Ship is looking pretty full. So absolute last min may not be the best deal? If you are the type that can check the site often for price drops then book early and get the drops. Good luck and have a great time what ever you do.

  3. We are going to HMC in January. I've noticed the size of the island is much larger just the area used by the beach, bars, cabanas and walking track. What else is on the island? Can you explore the rest of the island?

    Thanks

  4. Sorry you had a bad start to your trip We pick the same cabin every cruise, the very first cabin on the floor, 7202. I love to feel a little motion at night when I am laying down, puts me right to sleep. I've never noticed it during the day. Never had wet balcony either. Thinking, maybe runoff from them spraying off the Lido? No lights are not a problem, I like to relax in the dark or I have used a small book light to read. This cruise I have a back lit kindle, so I'm set. We did have room 8202 once. We could see into the bridge and every morning while we were having our breakfast and coffee the captain would come over and wave.

I prefer 7202, because we are directly under the bridge and we get all shade ( the sun and I don't get along all the time) and no rain either, unless its coming sideways. The bridge blocks both to the balcony.

  5. We get it every cruise. We have no disabilities that make lines difficult, we have no legitimate reasons to need it. But we love it. :D

    - Get on the ship fast and early

    - get to my room to drop stuff off early

    - get my luggage early (so I can unpack and organize my room, I'm a bit anal - about stuff like that)

    - shorter lines

    - priority tenders

To me, worth the $50 buck.

  6. Has anyone ever done a tour with Ellis? I have been contacting him through Facebook and was hoping to get some info, if people like his tour to the rainforest. I have hard time finding things on the San Juan PR board because so much of it is for people embarking. Looking for a tour to El Yunque to hike to the falls. Also has anyone been to Rio Camuy Caverns, looked cool in the pictures. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. I just bought a Nikon 3200 and am soooo looking forward to our up coming cruise in January to really try it out. But what do you do with the camera on a beach day? I don't want to leave it behind because I want to use it everywhere. Especially HMC and St. Thomas, I mean what a beautiful places. But what do you do if you go to the beach. How do you get in the water? Just leave it behind? Do yo feel safe doing so? Obviously do leave it out in the open, but in its bag in your beach bag? I am not usually an overly nervous person and just go with the flow. The camera is insured so if it gets stolen or (more likely) I drop it overboard  it is replaced at 100% and I do plan on taking more than one memory card so I would not loose the entire trip. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  8. We have a Cabana rented for our January Cruise and I was wondering if there is anything in the cabana that locks? I really want to take my camera

(Nikon 3200) but I want to be able to snorkel and float carefree in the Ocean without worrying about the camera. But I am so looking forward to exploring the island and taking some cool pictures:confused: This is our first time to HMC, any thoughts on safety of things left in the cabana? I mean I know anything can happen but would you worry?

    Thanks in advance.

  9. Jaberjaw...

Where was your favorite place to snorkel in Roatan? We are headed there for the first time in March and with a family that loves to snorkel we are looking for the best place. I am considering Little French Key, West Bay, and Fantasy Island. Not trying to hijack the thread, but I would love to hear your experience.

We snorkeled in Roatan at a little cove off the beaten path, I believe it was called half moon bay. We had a private driver from Victor Bodden who took us there the first time and then we told our other driver where we wanted to go and he took us their the 2nd time. Great snorkeling. Have a great trip.

  10. OP, I am sorry that no one listens or reads. I understand on long posts you don't have time to read them all the before you reply, but you stated several times, that your kids eat normal adult food at home daily. Why people assume that you don't know what foods your own kids can handle? You were asking about a menu. Ok, sorry for the rant, just got on my nerve.

On the other hand. My niece ate what everyone else at the table was eating for dinner, end of story. My nephews (Oy) may at have a full body shut down if they had to eat (home cooked) not

pre-packaged, processed food or any fruit or vegetables. And french fries & gummy fruit do NOT count. Lol

  11. I know the coffee shop is not included but can I get a coffee with baileys in it in the dinning room? or say a Spanish coffee type of drink? Trying to decide if we want to get it on our next cruise. I not a big drinker and I dont want to feel obligated to have more than I should, lol. But if I could order a shot in my coffee it would make it more appealing. Thanks in advance.

  12. We cruised on the Liberty in January 2013 with my nieces 14 y/o friend, who was extremely picky. Our waiter asked her what she wanted to see on the menu? She asked for Fettuccine Alfredo. He had it waiting for her every night from then on. sorry they could not help you. I'm sure it will be a hit or miss for each ship and wait staff. It is great when it happens, but I don't think you should just assume or get upset that you can get anything that you want that is not on the menu. sorry.

  13. BLT & chocolate cake from room service are very good. Also coffee and Danishes in the morning, sitting on my balcony watching the sun come up is my happy thought through out the rest of the year. Have a great time and DON'T try to do everything, find time to relax.

  14. I work with an older population in an aquatic setting (older, but very mobile and many travel extensively) I agree, more fecal matter from adults than babies. If it's allowed and mom is responsible and pays attention, I say let the little tyke splash. You are paying the same price for baby as adult so they have just as much right to fun as others. If others don't like it they can stay out of the pool.

And I have no kids so no bias opinions from me.

    Have a great vacation.

  15. Boo, I paid for a 2.0 ship and now am paying almost a $1000.00 per person for a regular balcony room:eek:. Very disappointed. We have been on the Valor and like the ship but wish they would reduce the price accordingly for a ship that has yet to be upgraded. Not only for the 2.0 but just to be spruced up a bit and thoroughly cleaned. We are going with a group and I don't see everyone agreeing to canceling so we are stuck if we want to be with them. But if it weren't for that I would seriously consider re-booking on a better priced ship. But any day on a ship beats being at work. Got to make the best of it. On the other side of the coin, some people got an upgrade, good for them. wrong side of the coin I guess.

  16. Not happy about this change. We are cruising Nov 2015 with a group, some of which did NOT want Carnival. The 2.0 upgrade is one of the reasons they agreed. Not they are switching to a non upgraded ship. Hoping for a price reduction. At this point I'm paying $919,00/ pp for a ship that doesn't have the 2.0 upgrades grr. Anyone know if the cheers program is on the Valor. If not, that may be the nail in the coffin for them.

  17. I think you can do that. My daughter changed her mind after researching this type of activity. Maybe yours might change her mind also.

I personally would not do this excursion but we went to a beach day that had this excursion in Cozumel. My brother, SIS and niece did this. I watched a little and was surprised that it was a very small and low barrier keeping them in the ring they were in and could have easily jumped out of their enclosure and into the ocean. They are smart animals, they could leave if they really wanted to. At least at this particular location.
