  1. thank you for your responses - it has been a relief to see that Princess and American are working together although I wish Princess would stop playing with my money and just pay American. They have had my money for a long time and I have had 3 canceled cruises so this has been quite exhausting.

I have the American app on my phone and will check to make sure I check it quite often.

  2. thanks, my cruise (to Hawaii) is not until October. I purposely booked a direct flight as walking is difficult if we have to change planes in big airports. We are going 2 days before ship departure so hopefully the air situation will not be the mess it is today.

I was ultimately able to find my flight on AA.com BUT the status is marked unknown. It was very difficult to locate it on their website.

I think I can request Early Ticketing but I am unsure what the implication's of that would be.np

  3. When can I expect my EZ air reservation to be sent to the airlines ? I have a record locator on American but it is not reserved on AA.COM website. With all of the airline craziness it makes me nervous. I have paid in full for my cruise and EZ air airfare.

  4. As I remember,  the catamaran ride was a couple of hours and it pulled right up to the dock and we got off and boarded directly on to the boat. We arrived at the ship in the afternoon (time for wine-cocktails/snacks etc before a great dinner). I do not remember any extra time in Valdez to eat as we went right from the bus from Copper River to the catamaran. There were snacks available on the catamaran. We took food/snacks with us from Copper River. The ride on the bus from Denali to Copper River was long but very interesting as we saw lots of back areas in Alaska we would never had seen otherwise. We stopped halfway at a little lodge restaurant in the middle of nowhere were we had a nice lunch. I hope to do this again as it was a great trip. I would like to add the Kenai on to my next time as well. This had been our second Princess cruise-tour in Alaska and they do them seamlessly.

  5. As I remember our land portion was 6 days - overnight in Denali then on to  McKinley then a long but enjoyable bus trip to Copper River for 2 night - it was called off the beaten path I think...very nice trip

For us it was our second trip to Alaska - and we may do a third -

  6. We did the land portion first then the cruise. Copper River was very nice and the mountain range is fabulous. We did the ATV excursion and had a great time. The guide was very interesting and he took us into back country. Best excursion I have ever been on. They took us on a jet boat from Valdez right us to the ship for our cruise portion. It was great. I am thinking I might go back.

  7. Hi,

I have done Alaska cruise tour twice (last time was August 2017).

I would tour first and then cruise south to Vancouver. On both cruise trips we got mid ship regular cabins (which are perfectly nice and comfortable) on Caribe deck as they have larger private balcony area (and this is a trip where the balcony is a must in my opinion).

We did not go the connoisseur option but I would say that it has nice features and food is expensive in Alaska. Have them fly in 1 to 2 days before to Anchorage as its well worth while. Princess often uses the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage and its nice and well located.

On the trip last year we went to Mckinely Lodge, Denali lodge and then to Copper River which was a great treat. I am very glad we did it as Copper River is beautiful and the long jet catamaram trip they use to take you from Copper River/Valdez to the ship is fabulous.

Use a travel agent that does lots of business with Princess and is familiar with the ships.

    Good luck.

  8. need some help/suggestions PLEASE - will be arriving on a WB (QM2) from Southampton to NYC in November. Have never done this before so I have never seen or been to the port in Brooklyn. I am trying to figure out how to get home to Delaware.

A car service with a driver is a possibility but the cost is enormous.

I thought about a car to take me to a rental car company and then pickup a rental that I could leave in Wilmington Delaware (one way rental) - it seems that the rental car places are not available on Sundays.

Are there transfers from Cunard to the Amtrak stations either at Penn Station or Newark airport ?

Can anyone give me any ideas ? Thanks

  9. thanks - we figured that worst case we could have a car/driver take us to Penn Station but we would really like to avoid that if possible. As two slow walking young seniors with luggage (and bad backs) as direct a route would totally be the best way to go - also thought prehaps the Newark/Amtrak station would be less hectic that Penn Station.

I had heard about Dial 7 so I will call them. If I have a car service take me to Penn Station and then take the Metro liner I will be most likely spending $300 +- and be dog tired by the time I hit my front door.

  10. Hope you can advise and help - sailing on QM2 - disembarking in Red Hook - Brooklyn (have never been there) and need to get home to Delaware. Are there Cunard shuttles to Amtrak stations in Mid town Manhattan or (preferably) in Newark New Jersey ?

Would a car service be better and which one ?

Are there car services that would take you to Philadelphia or Wilmington ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  11. I just used totally driven last week . I asked for estate sized car both times - both times they sent a very comfortable van type car with lots of space - always on time- was a very good experience - I think the drivers were independent contractors to Totally driven. I booked using the Internet and the rate was very fair. Good luck

  12. Just got off on 1/23/15 after 10 days - first time on Costa - food was fine - main dining good and plenary of choice with buffet including good salad bar and fresh fruit - boat very clean - everyone very nice and cabin very nice and well attended - will sail with them again
