  1. Did you like it?

We met a couple who were very enthusiastic about a Europen river cruise that they took to visit the Christmas markets. It really did not sound very appealing, but at least a few Princess cruisers must like river cruising.

There has been an explosion of ship building for river cruising, so clearly many people enjoy it. Although, I believe it attracts a much older demographic than typical Princess cruisers, this could be a misconception.

This intended for people who would normally sail Princess. I wonder if CCL or Princess would even enter this market?

We did the Danube last fall. We did it with AMA Waterways. We ran into some trouble with water levels. So we had to be bused a few hours from Budapest to Austria. Wasn't a fan of that. It is quite a different experience than Big Ship cruising. My husband and I are in our early 50's and we were the youngest on this particular cruise. I did love seeing the countryside go by. It was so beautiful. The Christmas markets were just opening and it was fabulous. IMHO and my husbands too, we will stick with big ship cruising. Forever. :)

  2. Don't do that with the TV/DVR if you have programs you want to record! I did that once and won't forget that again!

I did that last summer! I was so angry and hubby missed the Basketball playoffs.. I always unplug everything, guess I did "too" much! :o

  3. There will, very likely, not be any Princess Caribbean cruises in August.... Oops, didn't notice. Sorry!

As for the British Isles cruise, the itineraries should be open for booking in March or April 2017.

Oops, Im sorry too, I always thought the Caribbean Princess did the British Isles cruises.. I shouldnt have assumed that! lol..

The family and I have been looking at all cruise lines and by far Princess has the best itinerary for us. Cannot wait!

  4. Celiac only affects about 1% of the population, so it's no surprise he may not have heard of it. Celiac doesn't even begin explain the current gluten free craze. For most people, I think it's a diet fad, like so many before it, and will fade in popularity when the next "big thing" comes along. I'm not saying that to make light of those who have the disease.

 wow, a fad? Not in the least

  5. Why do people now have "gluten problems"? You never heard about this 20 years ago. I love my beer, so I never had any problems except my extra 20 pounds I carry around.

I wish I knew "why" i have Celiac. Why my son has it as well.. I stopped asking why many years ago and just avoid gluten all together. .. I appreciate your question OP. Thank you

  6. Just want to let everyone know what great treatment I received while on the Caribbean Princess last week. We had a wonderful time the first 9 days of the 12 night British Isle cruise. While on a private tour, NOT through Princess, we were going to the Falls of Shin while in the port of Invergordon. I fell going down to the waterfall and broke a couple bones around my ankle. They got me back to the ship and saw the ship's Doctor. They were wonderful at the medical center. Everyone on the ship was wonderful. Princess sent me flowers and a get well card. They arranged for a private transfer to get back to Heathrow since I couldn't get on the coach. They went above and beyond! Cannot say enough about how kind everyone was!:):)

Good and not so good news. Glad to hear you could at least finish the trip. I am just finishing with my Air cast after ORIF surgery 11 weeks ago. Honestly I could not imagine having this happen while on Vacation. You seem like your in great spirits! Keep them up! (if you have any questions, let me know).. Good Luck.. :)

  7. I disagree that this benefit can be extended to anyone in the cabin. It's an individual perk for reaching elite status and no where does it say you can share this benefit.

I doubt your cabin steward would ever say anything, but my opinion is that you're breaking the rules.

Really? uh oh.. We asked our Room steward last trip if my husband could mix a shirt with my stuff and she said, "just 1 shirt? nothing else?". I said no, and we will pay for his! (im elite, he is not.) She said, "no no, its included, no problem! Add more.". Now she could have been being sweet, but she made it clear, it was fine.. yikes.

  8. I just reached elite status myself. I can see that they use high powered dryers. Is it possible to ask for the items to be laundered and than hung to dry or delivered to me hung on hangers but wet? All the clothing I own says wash cold or warm and hang to dry on the tags. Do they follow the tag directions?

You can ask them anything! Or leave a note with the laundry sheet. They even get out my stains on pants & shirts without asking.. Its such a nice feature to have on longer cruises. We have never had them take longer than 2 days.. Not ever, its just so convenient! Love love..

  9. We went in Oct and had very rough seas and very strong winds the 1st 2 days going and coming, they had to close the pool decks.

Ditto.. You just never know. But I hope we can get luck on our Oct 26th crossing out of LA.. Our last trip to Hawaii was pretty darn chilly the 1st couple days.. And Choppy! Choppy Choppy! It was kind of fun though.. If it doesnt make you sick. :D

  10. Hi Trinity!

Please don't feel shy about asking a question because it may have been asked before. The fact is there are few if ANY questions that have NOT been asked before. But, many times a person will ask a question and generate a discussion thread just different enough that a LOT of new answers/ideas will result. Only a few diehards will ever mind seeing a repeat questions -- and those should really avoid using boards like this.

    Cheers!

    Tee

Thank you for saying that Tee. :) I too never mind seeing repeat questions. I also sometimes do not ask questions for fear someone might get upset..

  11. WOW! In 2009 we paid $15/pp/pd for the Sanctuary on the Ruby Princess. Well worth it at $15....maybe $25, but I would NOT pay $40.

Indeed. I found that to be quite high as well. I wasn't even aware it was that much. Has the service changed? Gotten better? Much better? I guess its worth it to some, not to others. I appreciate the input here. It does help. :)

  12. In my experience (3 cruises to HI at various times) it may not be worth buying the whole cruise due to often cold weather on the sea days. Rather there are padded loungers by the Lotus Spa Pool that turn over fast enough for you to get some sun, hot tub, and pool time in. On the Star the Thermal Suite is right there too and that is worth more to us than Sanctuary.

We've cruised a dozen times out of LA and have not seen the Sanctuary close to sold out. But if you find a warm day you'd like to chill, there should be plenty of room.

Great Advice. This is what I think we will do.. Thank you!

  13. Price is pp, you can choose am/pm.

I'll let others fill in the other details, but I can answer the "worth it?" question. I was really looking forward to the Sanctuary on our Hawaii cruise two years ago. Ran straight up and booked for the entire cruise. Big mistake. The ocean crossing was freezing, there and back. As for the port days, well we got off the boat while in Hawaii, duh. Blew $1k for the privilege of using our loungers twice. And both times we forced ourselves to go.

Our trip was in April, ymmv. Enjoy your cruise!

Hmmmm, yes, I was worried about this.. The crossing can be terrible. Thank you so much for your thoughts. It really helps and means a lot to me. :)

  14. I was very curious about just a few things on the Sanctuary. We were seriously considering get it for full days for our trip to Hawaii on the Star.

Is the price 40 pp? Or does that include both DH and myself?

If we did half a day, do you get to choose morning or afternoon if available? What hours are the half day?

The weather can be tricky crossing over to Hawaii, has anyone thought it was really great and worth it?

    Thanks so much!

  15. After you book a flight through EZair, you need to go to the airline website, join their frequent flier program and set up your personal information such as an email address and cell phone for text messages. Princess does not monitor flight changes which happen all the time. You have to get it from the airline and they have to know how to contact you mostly by email. One nice touch is that you can set up your cell phone number so that the airline can text you the day of the flight(s) of any changes. Lacking email and text messaging capability, you have to check with the airline.

    Well Said! yes!

  16. Hmmm.. I have never had a problem with Ez air.. However; We did have flight changes which the airline emailed me.. Virgin and AA.. So I knew it had happened. Id say shame on Delta or whomever doesnt contact the client, maybe not 100% Princess fault. I am glad you brought this up though, not hard to check the airline website the evening before..... just to be safe :)

  17. A Meta upgrade means moving from one category, say oceanview, to balcony, as opposed to moving from an oceanview to a cabin the cruise line deems to bea "better" oceanview.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

    Gotcha! Thanks so much

  18. There's no way on the Princess site to mark an upgrade preference which by default is to accept any upgrade. To mark your reservation Meta or no upgrade, your booking source (Princess or TA) must do it.
