  1. Why should a lounge be closed for the benefit of some only. There are insufficient lounges as it is.

As for members of the "Peaknuckle"society Why?

The staff and officers only pay lip service to the disabled wishing to take in a show.

The Windjammer was open 24hrs last June on the Rhapsody of the Seas.

But the main point of my posting is that the Ship and facilities are supposed to be for ALL to enjoy.

If you want an elitist cruise then go Regent Seven Seas and such:confused:

  2. We are disappointed to say the least with what appears to be penny pinching onboard this cruise. The windjammer no longer runs 24hrs instead a silly little booth on the Promenade deck is allegedly a 24hrs food source. If you like little sandwiches and nothing else. The "Pubic" rooms / "lounges" are hijacked each day at 5.00pm for the "elite" Diamond and above passengers. The rest of the "Plebs" are not wanted. Turning this ship into a "Class Distinction" ship.

If you are disabled forget any assistance if you wish to see a show. A Row of "loose" seats are at the back. But the usual lazy able bodied passengers sit in them and when asked to move are generally abusive. In on instance threatening to hit a female member of staff in the face for asking him to move.

Standards have definitely gone down on This Royal Caribbean ship.

  3. We went to a clinic yesterday to get advice on yellow fever jabs as we're both over 60 and on balance decided to get an exemption certificate instead. We had the jab 22 years ago and apparently new regulations state that 35 years seem to apply for the injection now so it appears that we have some immunity still.

It was difficult though as the onus is on you to decide wether or not to have the jab rather than a doctor telling you that you should have it ( or not ) as the case may be.

Being an old EXPAT from Africa best defence from Mosquito bites is 'Citronella' an oil that you merely rub a little on you Bare skin areas

Yellow Fever and TAB injections stay with you and If you had Hep you cannot have that injection anyway and are exempt

  4. My Husband and I are due to cruise on the Thomson Dream in Feb 2015 for the 1st time has anyone got and tips/advice as we have never sailed with Thomson before only P and O. :)

We were on the Dream this Year out of Barbados, lovely ship, very helpful staff (in General) the Maitre D 'JUN' turned out to be an old aquaintance from the Celebration Food was good in the MDR

You will get pestered to buy Drinks in the Lounges

We may see you in February I assume you are cruising out of Jamacia we are doing 2 Back to Back again

  5. It might be a blessing if they have cut down on staff perpetualy pestering you to buy a Drink from as soon as you sit down and then every few minutes from then on if you say no.

Not being a drinker I got fed up with it very quickly.

As for the food in the MDR we had superb service and very high quality food throughout our 2 Back to back cruises on the Dream this year ouit of Barbados

  6. You do have a point, dave, but I've been in a position where I've booked early with Thomson to get a particular deck, only to find the price has drastically reduced the very next day! So that happens with all cruise lines/ holiday companies etc.

I'm basing my experience on Fred Olsen- we booked a saver fare (late-ish but not last minute) , and during the booking process we were able to see exactly which cabins were available on each deck, and chose the deck/cabin that suited our needs and pockets.

Yes, we paid more than the standard inside lead-in price, but the extra wasn't as much as we've paid with Thomson for a similar position. So when their deck supplements are already so high, you should be able to book and feel secure that you will be able to have a suitable cabin in the position you've paid for.

I find 1 or 2 of the posts unusual, we have booked our second Dream Cruise, and were given our requested Cabin Number on booking at no extra cost.

Our only Customer complaint with 'Guest Relations' was our trip this Year on the Dream when we went to see 'Guest Relations' To query Disabled access on and off the Ship at ports of call, Another Disabled Gentleman also went to enquire, and was IMMEDIATELY Verbally Attacked by the 'Guest Relations' desk operative stating that they were not there to Carry Guests on and off the Ship , which had not been mentioned , this is/was Guest relations at its best.

  7. We are booked on the Journey Jan 6th 2014 15 night Thailand and Vietnam cruise. My husband and I don't usually book tours as we love exploring independantly and just walking off the ship and making our own way around. My question is.... Has anyone done this cruise, or similar and if so, do the shuttles take you right into town where the action is or would we, in this case, need to book tours.

We will be visiting Singapore, Ko Samui, Klong Toey (Bangkok), Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang (Hue, Hoi An), Halong Bay (Hanoi), Hong Kong.

If anyone has any recommendations for any of these ports I would love to hear from you as we are travelling with two friends who have never travelled with Azamara and I have been nominated as Cruise Director! I would hate to mess things up and be stranded on a dock miles from anywhere!

Free Shuttles in Every port ie Bangkok, Saigon, Da Nang and Halong Bay no Tendering at all

Very efficient traffic in Bangkok only Problem :D

But ships staff and organisation was very very efficient

    Enjoy

  8. Hello Shintaro -

As I mentioned, once the ship has been cleared, guests not on tour have access to the tender gangway. We try our best to let our guests disembark ASAP.

Guests who have purchased our shore excursions are dispatched first and provided with a specific time and location for doing so. You can govern your schedule accordingly. As you may have read in testimonials from our previous guests, you should encounter prompt disembarkation.

Because of the nature of cruise operations and the fact that all schedules are subject to change without prior notice, I am unable to guarantee that you will always be assured of being in front of the line. Hence, your confusion.

I think touching base with our shore excursion concierge in tender ports the day prior will help build your confidence that you'll leave the ship as early a possible.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Leiber

    I may be wrong

But I thought ALL paying passengers were Guests

  9. Hello Sdancer -

I've reposted my response on your new question.

We usually reserve tenders for quick and efficient shore excursions dispatch which, in the end also benefits those not on tour. With less than 700 guests, it is unlikely that you will encounter an issue as an independent guest getting ashore early.

Plus, once the ship has been cleared, guests not on tour have access to the tender gangway. We try our best to let guests off ASAP.

    Best regards -

    Bill Leiber

Reading this as an independant . You are at the back of the Queue:confused:

  10. White Nights occur during the cruise, usually on sea days when dinner is served outside on the upper deck. Usually it is a special barbeque served by the entire staff. It is very festive; the band plays and dancing is encouraged. Attire is anything white! It's fun!

Come in the Buff (as long as you are not Suntanned) :D

  11. Exeter Airport charge for plastic bags too! And if you don't have one, or buy one, they won't let you take your liquids (under 100ml) through.

I did question why they charge when other airports, like Gatwick and Heathrow, don't, and was met with the amswer that they have more money than Exeter!

A rubbish answer as everything is in proportion, except LGW and LHR actually spend money on new facilities and enhancing the passenger experience, unlike Exeter whose departure lounge is a 'glorified shed'.

    Baggers

Manchester charge £1 for a Plastic see through bag, just take your own :p

  12. The reality is that I would expect Thomson to understandably be like virtually every other company and not be announcing anything specific or major/ new on a chat forum that is not already released elsewhere ( that excludes that which has already very recently filtered out from Thomson itself to passengers already booked on the Celebration for example ).

But a short Q and A this year will be of some benefit to all who take part.

We need to bear in mind that those of us on this forum only form a very miniscule percentage of their customers even though some of us have been on more cruises and been more loyal than the massive proportion of their customers/ past customers. They will, I am sure, value our thoughts, ideas and input and try and help us with some answers wherever possible.

Well that's my take on it anyway !

It would be best if this takes place sooner rather than later if at all possible.

Lol we are booked on the Dream Caribean b2b Jan 19th and 26th 2014

  13. Hello 2014 AzAmazing Evenings Followers -

I'm pleased that Andy has created a single repository for your questions about our 2014 AzAmazing Evenings programs.

At this point in time, I'm unable to answer your specific voyage questions. As I mentioned in some of the other threads, our tour operations team is tweaking or revising our pending 2014 AzAmazing Evenings based on our guest's and onboard team's feedback. Further, these events are being cross-referenced with itinerary times and the time between the return of shore excursions and the transfer to the specific event. This audit is to be completed by August 31, 2013.

Also, based on your collective feedback from the several AzAmazing Evening threads, I'm seeking more detailed information about the "style" of each event, i.e., "elegant" - castle or hotel venue or "rustic/authentic", i.e. street fair or village party so that you can set more accurate expectations. Also, I'll seek information about the food and drink service provided.

It's important that we tell it like it is, so that you can set your expectations accordingly.

In the meantime, I'll see if I can obtain some answers to your individual questions.

    Best regards,

    Bill Leiber
