Cruising for the first time from Sydney in Nov(hopefully). The drinks prices sound the same as on UK cruises, if we book a speciality restaurant onboard does tax get added to the cost? We usually use the C&A BOGOF so don't pre book in the planner.

They won't added any tip .They leave that  choice  to you if you want to add a tip when dining at a Speciality restaurant leaving from Australia.

I would like to pick you up on something.

Onboard purchases are treated like being in the U.S.

All onboard purchases attract a %18 gratuity and the purchase slip has a place for additional gratuity.

If a Australian buys something in the cruise planner gratuity is inclusive.

On the 9 RCCL cruise we have been on leaving from Sydney .Any Drinks bought onboard already include the 18% gratuity. That's why drink packages and drinks cost more on RCCL cruise ship sailing out of Australia. I am not sure about spa treatments though.

We are British and we will be cruising with our son and his partner when we holiday in Sydney, if we book through an AUS TA will the price for all of us include Gratuities?

Yes If you book through the Australian website it will include the Gratuities

  4. You will also not be expected to tip extra . When going to a bar or restaurant on land  in  both Australia and New Zealand. So  the waitstaff  won't be expecting you  for example to add a 18% tip on top of the bill.Tipping over here is based on if you want  to reward someone for good service. There is no pressure to do so.

I have a (US booked) NZ cruise on Quantum leaving from Brisbane which has the same gratuities language as all my other bookings, so the no added grats rule must only apply to those booked in Australia.

Yes if your not Australian and have not booked your cruise on the Australian website. You will get charged your  gratuities daily like normal. But the prices on board for drinks etc will include the tip in the price. As New Zealand and Australia have the same law about truth in sale price.

I  note  that  you  state  booking  the  cruise  in  Australia.   I  live  in  Canada  and  have  booked  an  RCL  cruise  from  Brisbane to  the  Great  Barrier  reef  then  back  to  Brisbane.   What  are  the  rules  for  gratuities  in  this  case?

You will get your daily gratuities charged to your account like normal. But anything you buy onboard will show the final price including your tip. You can tip extra if you want too

What  happens  to  RCL's  daily  and  other  gratuities  when  you  are  on  a  cruise  whollly  within  Australia?

When booking a cruise in Australia and leaving from Australia .It  has to include all gratuities in the cost of the cruise. It's law over here that the sale price show the true price with no hidden extra's.

I think even the drink prices onboard  has the tips already included  for the same reason.

But I am not sure if your not Australian and booking an Australian  cruise from another country if the truth in cruise price law would still amply to you.

  9. Viruses are not created aboard cruise ships, they are brought onboard by guests - often those who have travelled on a plane to get to the ship where they sometimes can infect others.

In the same way they would in a supermarket, a resort, a restaurant etc

So it spreads in the same way onboard a ship as it does anywhere else .The only difference is that it’s the only industry  that legally has to report its cases.

So I for one don't blame the the cruise ships and hope to one day be able to cruise again. But I realize we probably won't be able to cruise again until next year .Then  we will keep cruising the same amount as we always did. We have always followed good hygiene rules around handwashing  etc. We also always use the hand sanitiser everytime we see one around the ship. So for me and my family we feel comfortable to cruise again but I understand that other people may not feel the same way.

If you are Coeliac like me you don't want to eat the jam, vegemite, peanut butter etc from the big jars in the buffet or MDR, the bread crumbs left by others may affect some people.  If you know what I mean.

I am allergic to corn and because their jams etc has corn syrup in it I can't use them. Also can't use vegemite  if its a big jar as you can have cross contamination.Which is why I was hoping they still have the single serves of Vegemite.I think I will take some single serves with me just incase.

    Thanks

  11. Does anyone know if they have stopped having single serve Vegemite on the Voyage of the Seasr? Have always been able to get it on all their ships  leaving Australia. But there is talk that people can't find it in the Windjammer.

Asking due to food allergies. It was there only breakfast spread on Royal Caribbean ships that doesn't have corn syrup  in it.

    TIA

This is not a post to share a drink package. My husband wants a drink package but i do not drink. I know I can call and get the refreshment package for me but I wont get the value from it. I want to get the evian water package . coffe, If he bought his drink package himself on board would they still force me to get one since we are in the same room? Or would just he be able to get one without noticing I dont have one. I don't drink pop or coffee either

My sister had to buy drinks package for all adults in their cabin. But once onboard she went to guest services and explained that 1 person couldn't drink  because of their medication. They let them switch one to the soft drinks package and got the difference in onboard credit. So it could be eaiser for you to book onboard or at least change it.

Greetings from Germany, we have booked a cruise from Hongkong to Singapore on the 23.4-30.4.19 on the beautiful voyager of the seas. We are diamond plus member , and every time happy to use the Diamond Club.  Now I have heard that there is no diamond club for cruises from China and Singapore. Have someone better information for me? Thank you all in advance. Sigrid

    Hi

Haven't heard of it been closed completely to all that are allowed to use it.Just that on  some sailing they have closed the diamond lounge to anyone that is just a diamond members  but open to Diamond Plus and Pinnacle. That would be terrible if they did that as I love to go and sit there during the day to have coffee.

    cheers
