  1. We want to book a cruise for the 1st week in Oct. 2017 under the $50 deposit sale. Does anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

    The Details:

We want to sail out of Florida, as we live in GA, so we can drive to the port.

We need to sail between Oct 1, 2017 and Oct 8, 2017.

Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong? No cruises are listed for that week on any of the ships out of FL. I tried it by both listing a destination of the Caribbean and not listing a destination.

There will be 4 of us cruising, 3A 1 13 y/o. We prefer a balcony room.

Thanks so much for helping me!

  2. My DD13 was bit by a brown recluse at her dad's. The best we can figure is she laid her bra down on the floor while she slept. The bite was where the back band and shoulder strap meet. It got nasty fast, as we did not realize at first what it was, but when the necrosis started, we took her to the ER. They had to open and drain the bite and there was a staph infection present as well.

She missed 3 days of school from this, and since it had a staph infection, she was not allowed PE for the rest of the school year. There was too much of a chance of infecting another child. She got to be score keeper and time keeper for the rest of the school year (it happened in May).

Thankfully no one else was infected from the Staph, but I went crazy with Clorox and we wore gloves every time we cleaned it and changed the bandages.

  3. Does the Sensation have the hub available? We are looking for ways to communicate with our teens on board so everyone knows where everyone else is.

As of right now, we are looking at the white board and messages on the room phone.

What do you use to stay in touch.

  4. Thank you all for your advice. I do believe we are going to borrow a chair from a friend. The tour we plan to do in Key West does involve a good deal of walking, and the next day is Cozumel, and I definitely want to be able to get off ship and enjoy the port there as well.

We took a trip to Stone Mountain for just the Laser Show on Sunday. There was not a lot of walking, plus a huge break before we went back to the car and the knee was huge and swollen yesterday, and going to the dr today. Not to mention the heat and everything here in GA sent me to the ER yesterday.

  5. I just joined the AARP website, and in a little over an hour earned enough points for $50 off $500. It was fairly simple. I will do more tomorrow, as I want to pay for all of our excursions, plus spending money. Works for us!! I will also get a card to pay the balance due.

  6. I am looking for advise and experience for those who have been in my situation.

A little background: I am 40 years old, married, 2 kids, 13, and 20. I have been disabled since 2003 due to severe headaches. I have had 2 TIA's although you can't tell unless I get really really tired. Both my DH and DS know how to support me walking when that happens. The TIAs affected my right or "good" side.

I have always had a bad knee, just keeps getting worse, and now my next step is replacement. I also suffered a severe sprain to the same (left) leg, that just did not heal correctly. Now, if I do any walking, the ankle is heavily braced up, just to prevent pain. My knee has gotten to if I do more than go to Wal-Mart, it is in a heavy duty brace. It is at the point, that over the past 6 months that a day out with the family now requires a day to stay off my leg, except trips to the bathroom, with pain and swelling up to a week later and more brace time. Our last two family outings, DH has encouraged me to use available wheelchairs, just because it takes so much out of me, and on the last one DS is encouraging it too.

I feel like I would be giving up part of my freedom and what mobility I have if I make the decision to take a wheel chair on our next cruise. There are quite a bit of walking activities my crowd would like to do. I feel like if I use a WC, I would be slowing them greatly down and impact where we can go.

If it helps any we are cruising on the Carnival Sensation, going to Key West and Cozumel in Oct.

    Thanks in Advance!

  7. I will start to say that the last cruise we went on, my kids had passports, but my DD is now 13, so I feel its just better to wait until she is 16 to get hers now. I'm not worried about having to leave in an emergency with her, as there are more adults going with us.

When I type the letter for her dad to sign giving her permission to go to Key West and Cozumel with me, DH, and her brother 19, do I need to list all of the adults going, or am I enough? There is a chance that she and her brother may go off and do some shopping on their own, not 100% sure at this time.

    Thanks

  8. We know final payment is Aug. 7. That is not a problem. We have quite a bit of booking credit from when we had to cancel our cruise last year, which is why we are looking for reduced deposits, so we can determine just how much we will need.

Also, we are trying to determine one room vs. two if there is not a huge cost difference.

DH has already secured his vacation for this trip. School is out. My doctor has given his blessings for me to travel this fall, barring some crisis. If DS19 is in the Fire Academy, DD will bring a friend.

  9. Has anyone heard any sales rumors for the 4th? I'm hoping for a $50 deposit. We are looking to book the Sensation in Oct. for a Western Caribbean out of Miami.

I wish it was a 7 day cruise...but alas DH doesn't have the time off available since he started his job in May and DS19 is hoping to be in the fire academy by then. But on a positive note, my schedule and DD13 are flexible lol.

Right now is half price deposits. I would like to beat that if I could.

  10. I got Iron On patches from Walmart and we designed our own shirts for the cruise and plan on doing it again this fall. One of the shirts we did had an anchor on it and had to do with our honeymoon. The other one said Sailing the Sky on (date). They were easy to do.

This year, we have thought about the tie dye idea and plan on using a generic ship with "Our "Sensation"al Fall Break Cruise". I think we are going to put the itinerary on it. Not 100% sure yet.

  11. When looking at the 4 person Sensation cabins, it says 1 Pullman bed, which will let down over the head of the bed, correct?

The site also says a "trundle" bed will be brought in for the 4th person. Where exactly does the bed go? I am up and down quite a few times at night, and stepping over one of the kids is not an option due to mobility issues. Does the bed just lay out in the middle of the floor? How big of a person does it sleep comfortably? This may be the deal breaker on 2 rooms for us, despite the extra cost.

  12. Have you discussed the problem with your son and how it's holding up the booking? If he's this close to the job market, he needs to think of what this is doing. He might want to stay home with his friends before entering the adult world of employment and going off to training somewhere.

I know you want him to go, but how does he feel about it?

He really wants to go. These are ports we have never been to. He currently works in a field that is not related to public safety, and when we first started tossing the idea around, taking time off was not a problem for him. With his current schedule, he will miss 1 day. I wish this week were more flexible but with DD school schedule its not.

  13. If you were to go with option 3, how long will it be until you son knows his schedule?

There is no set timeline at this point. Probably about a month or so. He wont be able to miss during EMT school but if he is already on a shift rotation, his schedule can be arranged.

  14. After much deliberation and looking at the school calendar etc, my husband and I have settled on an Oct 2016 Sensation 4 day from Miami to Key West and Cozumel. This is our DD13 fall break from school. That and price is why we picked the week we did. With DH job, we cant do more than the 4 day over the weekend right now.

The problem, our DS19 is in the final hiring stages of a job as a firefighter. Depending on which job he goes with, he could be in EMT school in Oct. The other job, he will be done with his orientation and EMT school would not start until late Oct.

    Which option would you choose?

    1. Book a cabin for 3 now, and hope we can add a person if he goes.

    2. Book a cabin for 4 now, and substitute a friend for DD if DS does not go. She is really close friends with a girl from church, and I know her parents well, so this would be an option.

    3. Hold off on booking for now, and hope there is room for us on the ship.

    Thanks

  15. I have been looking at pics of staterooms like I have booked for our cruise. I have had some "just put your DD in the room with her brothers, it will be fine" statements. My DH and I, however, think it is much more appropriate for our 13 y/o DD to sleep in our room on our cruise instead of in the room with her brothers (19) in April. On the last cruise we went on with the kids, I did put DD in the room with the boys, but the boys were 14/15. Big difference.

Anyway, is there any type of privacy dividing curtains in the breeze that separate the two sleeping areas?

  16. Your 19 year olds are good. They are adults and Carnival does consider then as such.

I am guessing you say Carnival doesn't consider them adults because they don't allow them to drink. On land they are considered adults but are not allowed to drink. And yes before I am flamed I do understand that the ship is flagged foreign and not governed by US laws.

I was thinking Carnival not thinking of them as legal adults because they still have to book with mom and dad or someone over 25. The boys and my DH and myself have extensively discussed the no drinking on board issue extensively. They realize they can at port but must not get drunk because if they get unruly etc, they can be put off the ship.

Thanks for your reply! We don't have to deal with DSS's mom because she would do everything in her power to make him not go since he moved out of her house and in with dad.

  17. We are sailing on the Breeze in April. Me, DH, DS19, DSS19, DD13. The boys will have their own room on the ship. Booked DS19 and DH in the same room and me, DSS19, DD13 are in one room. Booked this way for Cheers and to have a returning cruiser in each room.

I know I need a letter from DD dad for us to leave the country with her. My question is do we need one for DSS19 from his mom since Carnival does not consider him an adult? She will not cooperate with us for this. I don't have to deal with this with DS19 because I am the only parent listed on his birth certificate.

    TIA

  18. My DH, DD13 and myself, have been booked on the Breeze for several months now for April 2016. When we booked, we asked both boys 19, if they wanted to go with us. Both opted out. Well low and behold, both boys now want to go. We have a cove balcony room and really like the location. The drawback is that there are no inside rooms near where our room is. Are there any rules as to how close the boys have to be to our room. We don't feel we need to spring for a balcony for the boys at this point. We will pay for inside, if they want to upgrade, they can pay for it. Both work.
