  1. I hope it is on all ships and cruises now, it certainly wasn't on the Diamond in 2012.

We were on the CB Sept. 20--Sept 29 th. BOGO beverage was advertised in the patter everyday. Explorer 3--4 pm Skywalkers 11---12pm. This was our 10th. Princess cruise. First time we noticed this. Another poster mentioned this was the way it always was but never posted in the patter.

  2. It appears as if Princess has done away with them on all ships.

We were on the Caribbean Princess Sept. 20--Sept.29 th. They had Happy Hour at Explorers 3-4 pm. and Skywalkers 11--12 pm. BOGO free beverage. It was posted in the patter. Another poster said this is the usual but not posted in the patter on other ships. They also mentioned a raffle and entertainment. We never did make it to either venue.

  3. Wonderful review. The kids are so lucky to have parents like the 2 of you. Memories will last forever. Brought back many memories for me. We did a 30 day Mediterranean & Transatlantic cruise on the Ruby 3 years ago. We did 15 ports with private tours(vans seating 9 pax) and 2 ports on Princess excursions. No comparison. We loved the private tours. It is cheaper to do the private tours and you see a lot more. On the buses you have to wait for 45 people to get off and on each stop.

Will certainly be back to view the pic s

  4. Everything went smoothly. When we left Toronto the captain announced we would arrive in Ft . Lauderdale 10 min early. This is the first time we had a flight the same day we sailed. We were on the ship at 2:25 pm. I don t think we will ever do that again. The price of the 9 day cruise and the $400 OBC was too good to turn down.

Went to Sail away with the CC group. Had a lot of fun.

We were disappointed with our cabin C717. We booked an inside but didn t like the upper beds sticking out from the wall. Since we were 2 we didn t expect the upper beds. Awkward getting in or out of bed.

We had a great room steward John from the Philippines. Smiling all the time . Filled out a card. He went above his duties.

The food was very good in the buffet and the dining room. We never waited to be seated at Anytime dining. I wish the waiters could spend a few minutes with us. They have a lot of tables to take care of. Hector the head waiter sang a few nights in the Palm dining room. We really enjoyed his singing.

I was disappointed on formal night they didn t serve lobster. Sept. 20-25th.Princess does an excellent job with fish. I had some form of seafood most nights.

Went to see 3 production shows and a ventriloquist All were good. Enjoyed the marriage show.

I was surprised I left a jacket at MUTS and checked at the Purser s desk 3 times and it was never turned in.

The smoke from the casino does drift into the Piazza. It would help if they put up doors to the casino, I don t imagine that will ever happen.

Great to see wine 40% off a bottle in the dining room. I don t remember seeing a discount on an individual bottle on a Princess ship before.

Won a beautiful bouquet of flowers from having the treasure card stamped.

Overall we had a great time, good weather and met interesting people.

We are booked on the Royal for 20 days Nov. 4th. Balcony. We booked a guarantee and don t have a cabin assigned yet.

  5. First time cruiser here!

I have read a few posts from people on cruises that didn't make it to the scheduled ports. Some missed only one port due to water conditions or issues at the port. One cruiser said most of the ports were cancelled due to engine troubles with the ship.

My question is, does Princess offer any compensation for missed ports?

I am treating my upcoming cruise as more of a floating hotel and would be pretty upset if even one port was missed, let alone most or all of them.

    Thanks!

We were on the Crown TA last October. The Captain made a decision to stay in Southampton for 2 and half days. It was disappointing because we ended missing 3 ports---Le Harve,Vigo and Ponta Delaga. A hurricane was headed our way. Ended changing to a Tropical Depression. Princess had frees shuttles available for 2 days in Southampton. The newspapers had front page stories about the storm and all the damage it caused along the coast. I felt truly sorry for the elderly veterans who missed their tours to the Normandy Beaches. We ended up staying in Lisbon for 2 days. They refunded the port charges as expected.

We received a letter from Princess advising us we would be getting a Goodwill credit of 50 % of what we had paid for our present cruise to a future cruise.

This was above anything we expected. Captain McCharming made the right choice to keep us and the ship safe.

We will be using our credit on the Royal for a 20 day Caribbean cruise in November.

  6. Thanks for the replies. They were very helpful. We have to quickly make up our minds because were going away tomorrow and final payment is coming up very soon. Found a TA that is offering a lower price and OBC. Now I have a site to check before booking a cabin.

  8. I m usually a lurker. Had to comment on Puerta Vallarta. We rent a condo for 2 months every January- Febuary . We never feel uncomfortable walking around Old Town or the hotel zone, In the last nine years we have never seen anything to be worried about. I walk by myself in the evening. I also drink the water from the tap because Puerta Vallarta has purified water. We eat in resturants and have salads and drinks with ice. I have never been sick there either.

There was a robbery (no one was hurt) of a excursion bus (RCL) a few years back. Very unfortunate because a lot of cruise ships stopped coming to PV. Imagine if all touristy events closed down in your city because of 1 incident

Hop on a bus for 70 pesos, marked Cento. Walk along the Malecon Try a restaurant or barter with a vendor. The local people are very friendly and if you don t want to buy anything a simple no gracias will suffice.

  9. Although I have never met David Cole he seems like a folk legend around these parts - so much so I feel I really must experiece a cruise with him as CD ;) So... does anyone know? Is David still gonna be on the Sapphire on August 4th out of Whittier?

Received an e-mail from Princess he will be on our sailing July 28th B2B Alaska cruise. Reading previous posts-----he comes highly recommended.
