  1. We love Villefranche; it is a beautiful small village with ruins to explore, as well as nice seaside restaurants with wonderful seafood.  We spent a month in Nice and one day we walked there from Nice (it was a long hike).  We also did the hike around Saint Jean-Cap Ferrat, which was outstanding.  It is definitely worth getting off the ship.

  2. If you would consider an apartment, the Dutch Master Apartments are fantastic and are in the area you are looking for.  They also contract with a local transportation company that will pick you up at the airport for a reasonable price.  The downside to the Dutch Master Apartments is that there is no elevator, but they do have 2 first floor units.  We stayed there last year and loved it.  Book early, as they do sell out.

Agree that sometimes Flight Ease can get you better pricing for one way flights, but most times they are a bit higher priced than booking direct with the airline.

I booked an international flight using FE for next summer.  Business Class going and Premium Economy for the return.  The FE price was over $1000  pp cheaper than booking directly with the airlines.

  4. I just submitted mine for an upcoming cruise and noticed something I had never seen before on the shareholder benefit explanation form --- For credit for cruises through July 31, 2024, reservations must be made by February 28, 2024 to get the shareholder credit.  Maybe that 4 month restriction has always been there and I just never noticed it.

  5. In Europe, trains between international cities (and some in-country cities) go up in price the closer you get to the travel date, so you should book early if possible.   I like using trainline.   It is easy to use and provides updates to changes in schedules and cancelations.  We had an hour delay on one train, and it helped with a partial refund we were entitled to due to the delay.  If using Amsterdam as a base for a week, we really like staying at the Dutch Master Apartments.  It is very easy to do day trips from Amsterdam, either through day tours, or on your own using the trains.  Consider doing a day trip (we used get your guide) to Giethoorn.  It is beautiful and too far away for a day trip on a cruise and not very easy to get to using public transportation.  Many tours combine it with a stop at Zaanse Schans.  Also, the same big box store you used in the past may have a package deal for the week (with transportation and excursions).
