  1. We did Oasis in March. We also found the dining room meals not so great, and are not fussy. We always have loved RCCL food. I am not sure what the issue is, I doubt the excuse they made regarding experimenting with menus explains more than six months of sub par food. They need to really try and figure out what is not working on Oasis. We have also travelled on Allure and had a wonderful dining experience. We found the menus very repetitive, the food was consistently overcooked and a lot of food is prepackaged rather than prepared. For example....omelets made with liquid egg, prepackaged and just heated. They were disgusting. But I would imagine they save time. If I wanted gas station food I wouldn't be spending those kinds of dollars to get it. The Oasis is a beautiful ship, just don't have big expectations for the food. Park cafe is great for lunch, I would buy a dining package I think. We noticed the dining room half empty every night, pretty sure the poor food is the reason. You don't cruise for the food, hopefully they will be working on this issue and have it resolved before you cruise.

  2. No, you won't really see much from starboard side. It is much better from port side. We went to deck six, that is where the sail away show is, it is kind of cool, and you can just go over to stand near the rail on port side and watch from there. It is kind of cool because you see all the neat homes, and a lot of the people come out to wave at you. Then you pass close to an apartment complex and a lot of people wave. Then you have a lovely view of the beach. This is filmed by the way on PTZtv and you can go and watch your sail away later....and maybe see yourself on the camera. The view from your balcony will be the port side of things.

  3. We just did St. Kitts for the first time...we had considered the sugar cane train, after seeing it I am glad we did not. When you get off the ship, there is an area right to the right where there are island tour operators. We paid $20 per person for a four hour tour with stops and it was a great tour, lots of information and a good overview of the island. Beaches in st. kitts are not that fabulous. In Puerto Rico you doc in old San Juan and you can do a walking tour of your own, the buildings and streets are magnificent or I can recommend the fort, it is pretty cool. There is no public transport right at the dock area, taxicabs are not allowed down there so unless you are taking a tour it is difficult to get in and out. Traffic backs up easily there as well and on our cruise people were delayed up to an hour in traffic trying to get back to the ship. We have also done a horse drawn carriage tour of old San Juan. It was $50 for one hour. St. Maarten we usually shop, but have done tours. The airport, or Maho beach is nice. There is a wide beach area right in town where you can rent a beach chair and umbrella and swim. The French side is interesting but much more expensive and we went once, didn't bother to go again. To get to downtown you take the water taxi from the dock area, it is eight dollars for all day, you can get off and on as much as you like. Get off at the third stop for right in the middle of downtown. If you want to have a little look at st. Maarten and other cruise ports, you can look at them in real time cameras on ptztv port cameras. The st. Maarten camera is right downtown and you can see the ships docked. The maho beach camera is also available. All of the ports take US dollars.

  4. Best Mayan ruins are in Belize, in my opinion, Altune Ha. Tulum is nice enough but it is a thirty minute ferry ride, then another thirty, forty minute drive to get to it....lots of waiting, and like others have said, not really great for a little guy.

  5. Yes, you can log in and log out on one device, then log in and out on another, so in a sense you can use multiple devices with one package, you just cannot simultaneously use both. Also, on RCI prior to our cruise there was a special two for the price of one if you bought the unlimited package....it was better than the onboard deal off buy one get one half.

  6. I am in eastern Canada.....we do not normally have good fall colours until October. It would be unusual to have much colour in September. That said, it all depends, you need cold nights to get good colour and you can't really predict that. Thanksgiving is the second weekend of October, normally it is around that time.

  7. Watch for offers on the internet package, we got a buy one get one free internet package about a week before sailing on the oasis. The high speed was really fast, what an improvement. The menu is certainly reduced and we found the food more repetitive, I think escargot were on the menu every single night. Not as much variety and the food quality was not as good. It had been four years for us as well.

  8. I love Lug bags, they have cool, bright colours, very functional, lots of styles and they last forever. I have probably eight in different sizes, but the one I carry all the time is so functional, roomy and durable I love it, the Cable car bag. I see them more and more when travelling, best bags overall in my opinion.

  9. The balconies on oasis/allure are bigger than balconies on other ships anyway, they are deeper. We just did a midship balcony on oasis, cabin 6664 and it was a great balcony. Good views and a very good location. Close to the boardwalk, close to the elevator, close to the stairs to the promenade. We actually really enjoyed being able to go to Johnny Rockets for breakfast, being able to just walk down the stairs to the promenade and we watched the parades from deck six. It was such a perfect location we would absolutely book it again.
