  1. Nothing to October when we on the Diamond Princess out of Melbourne for one of the last Princess cruises out of Melbourne.

We actually flying tommorrow to Auckland. But we doing a driving holiday for a week just around a bit of NZ middle of Northland and to see some family.

None of the cruises appeal to me at the moment its to the same ports that have been done over and over again.

Define decent ships. It varies depending on personal tastes. We like smaller shops, other people like the big ones.

Well when its basically PO sailing out of Melbourne from next year and not much else then there is quite a bit of scope. I like the smaller ships too. However, the main stream cruiselines are not building smaller ships so you have to look towards boutique cruiselines and then comes $$$ per night.

Weather looks reasonable for Wellington tomorrow. Great day for sightseeing. It is feeling quite autumnal here now.

Anyone headed to Te Papa, be prepared for it to be more crowded than a normal Monday as it is school holidays.

And Te Papa is free No need to go on ship tour. Take the shuttle to the second stop and it basically across the road from the stop.

Same with Cable car. Get off at first stop and buy your tickets.

One thing I have noticed about the 25-26 season,no ships go to Adelaide or Melbourne .

Thats Royal Caribbean ships, not Princess Geoff because this is a Royal Caribbean thread, LOL

So there’s a hole there that needs to be filled.

I might cruise RCL if they home port a ship in Melbourne for the season.

  5. I'm holding a booking on the Princess PNG cruise in 2026 I think it is on the Grand. Cause their last offering was last week prior to Xmas. No way was Pete getting time off the.

I did look at going to PNG with PO this year but I too slow and I think it sold out.

Ive only ever cruise RCL once on the Rasphody of Seas. I avoid mainly cause of the US dollar factor but I might try some out this year depending on the cruise price and the itinerary.

I know I keep saying this,,,,, BUT why is there 3 princess cruises out of Sydney to Fiji in 2025, yet not even 1 from Brisbane?????

I know there is 1 Fiji cruise out of Brisbane by P&O, but what is Princess thinking that Brisbane only wants the same old ports, be great to have at least one more option than the same old same old.🤬

Least you have a Princess ship. Try being Melbourne as your home port. Nada for us.

  7. I've done a mixture of ship tours and private tours but in Africa where infrastructure, road conditions, plus it was a tender port I would have stuck with a ship tour. I guess you need to weigh up the risks. Some of those passengers need to be thanking the American couple as they were the only ones to have any sort of card with them to pay for stuff. Could have been a very uncomfortable time if noone had a credit card.

I was on the Ruby Princess in 2012 in Casablanca when there were several hundred passengers that missed the deadline for the ship departure. They were all Princess ship tours so hence we waited several hours for them.

Also Philip Island on Grand Princess last year again we waited for for the ship tours and they were late back too.

The one Japan/Asia cruise I am interested in is the Oct. 13, 2025, cruise from Tokyo to Singapore. Unfortunately, it is already sold out (a year and a half in advance). Currently the only way to secure a cabin is to book from Seattle to Singapore. Almost a month long and 7 consecutive sea days. For me that is like prison. I hate more than two sea days without a port.

Hoping some balconies or minis become available.

Is that the Discovery Princess cruise. That be released for awhile now. Not surprised its sold out (but you could waitlist or keep watching the site to see if any cabins come up).  Its repo from Alaska down to Australia so lot of people would have booked on it. Especially Australians/NZ as its a one of Princess newer a ships for us 😄
