It was there as a option for any ship for me.    I was hoping to book a B2B  on the Mardi Gras but the comped offer was only valid for one sailing and then it disappeared.  I'd keep checking if I were you.  I received another offer today with discounted rates at $500 OBC.  It's looking like they're going to keep the offers coming with so many canceling.

Thank you!  I will keep looking.🙂

I haven't sailed on Carnival since 2017 and have been receiving the same casino offers of a small discount in cruise fare plus $200 OBC since then.  Yesterday I received an offer of a free interior cabin, free drinks in the casino, plus $200 OBC and this even included the Mardi Gras.  Carnival must be really struggling to fill their ships if they're sending out those offers to someone that doesn't even gamble much.

Needless to say, I took them up on the offer and will be sailing on the Mardi Gras in November.

Hi there, I got the same offer, but do not see the Mardi Gras as an option

Replacing masks after sipping drinks is the most absurd thing I've ever conceived.  I'm gonna regret taking this cruise after being on that ship for for 30 minutes I know.

On board my flight down now so I guess I'm committed. This mask on my face is already causing me anxiety. t My mom is gonna owe me dearly for enduring the misery this cruise is bound to.

If you are going to have the mindset before you are even on the ship that you will be miserable and regret the cruise......

You already said you will not be going to the theater, comedy shows, elevators and piano bar, so drink where you can social distance away from others.  The ship is amazing and has the most seating areas outside and inside of any ship I have been on so far in the Carnival fleet.   Try to make the best of it and enjoy.  The decks have a lot of seating everywhere.   It was cold on the ship too, not stuffy so that should help at least for me.  The islands, as long as you are on the beach, water you do not have to wear a mask.  Have a good time with your Mom!   I wish my Mom was still here to take a cruise with, mask or no mask.

Is there any evidence that the CDC will actually "shut it down"?  Back in June many here claimed that "a single case of Covid" would shutdown the industry.  Then August arrived with the Vista reporting ~30 cases and 1 Covid death on a single sailing, yet despite the numbers putting it above the CDC's own 1.5% threshold for shutdown, we get crickets from the CDC.  The threat of "shutdowns" is clearly an idle threat at this point.

There are going to be outbreaks.  The presence of the mask police will not change this.

The death of that individual was not due to cruising, there was a statement put out by her family as everyone assumed it was cruise related.  I do not think it is a idle threat, I do not want the cruises to stop, so I will do my best and follow the rules and keep my mask on as required.  The crew was so happy to be working again, some suffered tremendous hardships as many others have.

OK, got the announcement from  Carnival today.  It's all getting real.  We're scheduled to cruise on the Mardi Gras, leaving Thanksgiving weekend.  With the testing, and wearing masks indoors, I'm questioning how enjoyable it will be.  I like the Playlist Production type entertainment, and the live music at the bars in the evening.

For those who sailed with the masking policy, was it as fun?  Originally, I didn't think it would bother me, but now I'm wondering if sailing in November with these guidelines might be like a death by 1000 cuts.  Would you sail again with the masking?  The alternative would be going to Disney.

Disney has I believe implemented masks again at their parks in Florida.  I had a great time and enjoyed my cruise a lot, even with having to wear my mask, it did not bother me, in fact, it made me feel more comfortable if that makes sense.  I did not get in elevators unless they all had their masks on.  Some individuals would carry a glass/drink in their hand just so they did not have to put their masks on, to pretend they were drinking, so they did not have to wear their mask.  I passed the same guy so many times, his drink did not go any lower in his glass, he never wore his mask, it just hung off his ear, I saw staff ask him to mask up between drinking and he would say sure, put his mask on then as soon as they left take it off.   The islands now require masks everywhere, so if masking is not for you, then don't cruise.  Hawaii, when I was there,  had a full mask mandate, and I still enjoyed myself a lot.   These are choices, I want the cruise industry to continue to recover and still have the option to cruise, so I will do my part to help.  If more and more people/crew members get sick, we will not have the option to cruise.

This information is not correct.  You are not required to wear a mask while "strolling around" the ship.  Masks are required only in certain areas (lounges, casino, restaurant, elevators, etc.) where you will see a sign posted outside.  You can walk around the ship mask free and still be following the rules.

If you are inside and not drinking or eating, you are to wear your masks, inside can be crowded at times, you are passing other passengers, crews members.  I asked and was told on ship by the staff that you are to wear your mask unless you are eating or drinking inside.   Now we have several crew members who are sick, not sure what ship, but respectfully masks should be worn if you are not eating or drinking.  I spent a lot of time outside on the lido deck, but for the atrium shows, there are people constantly passing you by, it is close quarters.  As Andy the comedy show host said, please wear your mask so that the staff can continue to work and support thier families, and so that cruising does not stop.

I too had a great time on the Miracle Alaska cruise last week.  The masking didn’t bother me personally.  What did bother me is that there were lots of people not wearing masks or wearing them improperly (not covering their noses) and no enforcement by Carnival.

I agree, I had a great time too, but Carnival has to do a better job of enforcing, I did see them doing it, but as soon as they turned away some people took it down.  I want cruising to continue so I will follow the rules, if I did not want to follow the rules, I would not cruise, I would choose to do another type of vacation.  I wish all would respectfully do that as well.  I love cruising too much to see it stop again.

Much relieved!!! As the title of the thread referred to those who have sailed with masking indoors I assumed the announcement related to further, more strict masking policies on board. Such as wearing masks outside on the lido deck. The only reason I booked this cruise when the relaunch occurred in July was that masks weren't required on board. When that changed I few weeks ago I immediately wanted to cancel. I asked my Mom if she would mind if we postponed (it was a free balcony room from the casino, I only would lose the taxes and fees so it was real loss to me) but she said she really wanted to go. I obviously didn't want to let my mom down, so I told her I'd suck it up and still go. Thankfully I've been reading that Carnival hasn't been super strict on mask enforcement with the exception of the piano bar, comedy club, theater and elevators ( all of which I will be gladly avoid if I can stroll mask free around the rest of the ship).  Sorry to you guys only having 2 days to get your Covid tests. I got mine today, within the two day window but that was by choice. It's stressful finding a test right now.

Hi there, they do require you to wear a mask inside while strolling around especially going past the food areas and other people, which there are plenty unless eating or drinking.   While on the lido deck outside they don't require it, but as the staff kindly reminded us, it is not just for us but for them also, for their safety and a lot of them have not worked in awhile and really do not want the cruiselines to stop operating again.  Andy, the comedy host said it best, please wear your mask so I can continue to support my family and continue to work.   I did not mind at all, if that is what it takes to have cruises continue, then I will adhere to the rules.  The majority did adhere, and hopefully that will continue, respectfully,  The Islands are all requiring masks also, some will fine you if you don't wear it and now they are requiring fully vaccinated as well.  I hope you and your Mom have a great cruise, we did even though we wore our masks as required where asked to do so.

  13. I just returned from the Mardi Gras sailing, I had an awesome time!  Most adhered to the mask policy, there is always some that do not, there were the same ones that we saw.  I still had a great time even with all the protocols in place, I appreciate Carnvial doing all it can do to keep us safe and healthy.

Mexico was hot, but if you are on the beach, out on the deck, drinking or eating, mask is not required.

The pre testing now two days ahead for vaccinated does not bother me, CVS has a turnaround time of 1 hour for results.

I am just glad to help with safely getting back to cruising!

  14. I am ok with wearing the mask in some areas of the ship, and with the test, I am fully vaccinated.  I went to Hawai with my family including my Grandson, and we had to do a test within the 3 days, upload it, and fill out a health travel form.

At the Hotel, we had to wear a mask indoors unless eating, on the tours we had to wear a mask, they allowed us to briefly take it off for pictures and if we were at the beach, outdoors not in a crowd.

We had a great time!  My Grandson still talks about the trip everyday, he loved every minute.  I would not take him on a cruise as yet, so we did a land vacation.  But everywhere you travel, especially in the Caribbean, the Islands, Vegas will require a mask in some places.

I think that's a fantastic way to look at it.  Enjoy your land vacation with your grandson.  Memories await!

Thank you!  Yes, when he was born I was so excited that we could take him with us on our cruises and was actually able to take him on one before the pandemic.  He talks about it so much and always asks when are we going on another one.  He is now 6 and as much as I would love to have him with us I will not apply for an exemption for him.

Land vacations for now and hopefully next year, I can say yes to his 2nd cruise. 😊

Well there it is in Black and White. The rules have been set down. It's now up to every guest to decide if they want to cruise under these conditions. I for one are ready to sail under these terms knowing the future will be more relaxed. I don't have kids under 16 that travel with me and am sorry for the family's that are having to deal with that issue.

I am also glad to hear this.  Although for now that means my Grandson will not be able to cruise with us.   We will go on land vacations with him.  I would not cruise if they did not have these terms in place.

  18. On the Celebrity sailing, a fully vaccinated cruise they still had to do a test because of entry requirements.  2 tested positive, and by what I read by the cruisers  on the ship they handled it well.  The two were the only ones that tested positive and we’re not showing any symptoms.

It’s going to happen, if they test even the vaccinated cruisers.  The vaccine is supposed to make sure you have mild if any symptoms, so my question is why are we testing, requiring testing of  individuals that are vaccinated?  They don’t test people after they fly if they don’t have symptoms.   Or anywhere else now, if they are vaccinated.  if they did there would be asymptomatic positives everywhere.

On a cruise ship of 1,000 or more there is probably going to be a positive case.

if they do what Celebrity did, contract trace, test with results in a couple of hours and then provide the two who tested positive, and no symptoms, transportation back home with no interruption to the cruise I will be ok with that.

I believe correct me if I am wrong, but all ports have agreements with the cruise ships that they will allow the positive cases to disembark at the very next port and not sit out at sea like the craziness of last year, and the cruise will continue.
