  1. It’s unbelievably late, compared to other cruise lines.  I wonder if it’s got anything to do with the amalgamation of Saga and Titan? Just a thought.

  2. John 182, so sorry to hear this. As Ann 141 says, There is a thread on this page entitled Update on my cancelled 5 January 2022 cruise.  The passenger had the same experience as you. and Saga gave a full refund, plus a free 7 day cruise.  Please post here again when you have heard from them.  Meanwhile, I hope you keep well.

  3. I suggest you wait for Saga to contact you with the revised itinerary, which is likely to exclude St Petersburg.  You will then have options - accept the revised itinerary or not, or possibly move your deposit to another cruise.  If you decide not to accept the revised itinerary, then I would have thought you would be entitled to a refund, as this would be a material change, because most people book a Baltic cruise in order to visit St Petersburg.

Another thing to bear in mind is that the 2023 itineraries will be released late March, so it may be possible to move your deposit to one of the new itineraries if you can’t find another 2022 itinerary which appeals.

  4. Saga have advised that they will start contacting people who have pre-registered in early March.  There must be hundreds, if not thousands of us, so hopefully it won’t be too long before we hear from them.

  5. Medeba, I’ve checked my records.  We had an email on 26th August 2020 with a PDF of the brochure for 2022 cruises.  Saga phoned us on 1st September.  So we had 5 days, but I guess this will vary according to how many staff are available to make the calls.

it’s important to note that there are no prices on the  brochure.  When called you will be advised of the price for your chosen cruise, which will depend on the discount available at the time, eg 35%, 30% or whatever.

  6. You will be able to book onboard, and I expect that brochures will be available.  If you decide to pre-register,  Saga will contact you before the end of March.

  7. We received a mail shot from Saga this morning advertising 2022 cruises, along with a flyer stating 2023 cruise brochures will be available on 29th March.  It states people who have pre-registered will be contacted “soon”.

We pre-registered about 18 months ago, and are waiting with baited breath for an email with details of the 2023 cruises, and a phone call from Saga!

  8. We’ve got a couple of 2023 itineraries in our sights with other cruise lines, but want to see what Saga has to offer before booking.  Hopefully  we’ll be contacted within the next couple of weeks.  Will post here if we get a call.

  9. We are disembarking SofA this morning.  We were only booked on the 15 night Classic Canaries cruise, which, by the way, has been COVID free.

Passengers booked on back to backs were invited to aCaptains cocktail party on Tuesday night  to thank them for their loyalty.  The following morning, a letter was delivered to their cabins from HQ telling them they must disembark today!  No proper explanation given other than wanting to ensure cruises are COVID free.  Quite a few were on back to backs, as they had transferred from the cancelled South America cruise.  Some very upset people at breakfast yesterday.  Presumably the Captain would not have gone ahead with the cocktail party if he had known about this.  We can only assume the decision has been made to ensure parity of treatment of  guests on both ships.

  10. I’ve just asked the Future Cruise Sales person on board SofA.  2023 itineraries are still being finalised, and she doesn’t know when people who have pre-registered will be contacted.  I got the impression she has been asked this question before!  I wonder if Saga are trying to sell more 2022 itineraries before they advertise 2023?

Is anyone else disappointed with their pick up time?

I've been given 3pm for a journey of an hour.  Adding on an hour for health tests and check in, this means an embarkation of 5pm at the earliest.  Too late for lunch, a rush for dinner, and little leeway for road traffic delays.

Is this the stress free VIP service Saga advertises?

We live two and a half hours from the port, and were given 11.15 am pick up time.  Queuing at the port, testing and check in took one and a half hours. Our friends on the same cruise, who live about 5 miles from us, were picked up at 9.15 am.
    It doesn’t make sense.

  12. The £90 pre -registration fee is deducted from the deposit if you book. If you decide not to book, you can move it to the following year, or have a refund.

  13. Nothing yet. We’re departing on a Canaries cruise on SofA on 5th January (fingers crossed), so will ask the Future Sales person on board.  We have pre-registered for cruises April to December 2023; I hope we don’t have to wait until April 2022 in order to book!

  14. That’s a lot of money for an inside cabin.  Fred seems to charge high prices on launch, then reduces prices or adds incentives such as included drinks and tips, nearer to the sail date.  Saga charge lower prices on launch, and prices increase as cabins are sold. We have sailed with both cruise lines, but prefer Saga’s pricing policy.

  15. Sorry to hear that TA Dodger.  Suggest you use the Live Chat facility on Saga website, quoting your booking reference, stating that you will be unable to join the cruise.   I doubt if you will get a refund unless the cruise is cancelled but you may be able to move your payment to another cruise next year. Good luck!

Hope it's not end of December-we're on Discovery Christmas cruise until January 2022..Maybe someone on the ship will tell us about 2023 cruises..?

Ask the Future cruise sales person when on board. They have a desk in Saga World near the South Cape Bar on Deck 6.

  17. Thank you.  We hope to be on board Spirit of Adventure on the Classic Canaries cruise on 5th January.

Just wondering if we need to download the NHS App and Covid Travel Pass as well as carrying the NHS COVID letter?  I hope Saga will clarify for us, as we only have one smartphone between us at present!
