Yep, I had the $18 DBP booked for 5 different cruises, only was able to take advantage of it once (Oasis Feb 2020)
Did not get to use it all -- all Covid-canceled cruises.😢

I agree that any price above $100 is pretty much a skip for us. That said, it was a pretty good value at $80 or so for two people. The meal alone was worth it and we both got seconds of lobster. The filet was as good as the old filet at Giovanni's, previously the high point for Royal beef for us.

Just received the RU offer to bid today at 60 days out from our July 9th sailing on Allure. Our sailing in April on Odyssey was also at 60 days prior to sailing. I wonder if this is the new availability timeframe and the error message that references 30 days has not been updated.

I forgot to add...we ate in CK every night. Went up to the CK podium after boarding and they had availability for either 5:30 or 7:30 every night. We chose 7:30 as we are late eaters. We didn't plan on eating there every night, but loved the staff and venue and ended up there all 8 nights.
Agreed on the staff and the venue, although it is directly below the sports court, so you will hear stampeding kids during dinner. The staff in Odyssey CK were some of the best we have had. Ask for Francisco!

Aha! Post-cruise, I have an answer to my own question! You can only reserve the bumper cars once for the entire cruise. HOWEVER, on days when there are not enough reservations to fill the cars, they allow you to wait in a standby line and walk on as many times as you like. **Insert the The More You Know graphic**

Sorry to highjack the thread, but has anyone with a cabana on Nellie's Beach been taken to the better buffet at Barefoot Beach post-Covid restart? For that matter, is there still an upgraded buffet at Barefoot Beach?
-
Has anyone gotten a second bite at the apple after winning an initial bid? I won a 1 category upgrade about 15 days ago but the RU site has not re-populated with additional categories. It still shows my "Upgraded" bid and 3 other "Expired" bids.

All my bids for our April 10 cruise have expired except for a JS bid. It is still pending, but the ability to modify or cancel is gone as of March 17th.
Congraulations! Maybe.....

We have gotten multiples of starters, salads, appetizers and desserts, but have always been told that extra entrees were $10 extra. OTOH, we were given multiple entrees (without extra charge) once in 150CP when we were one of 3 couples in the place. YMMV.

Thought I'd mention -- if you win a bid from a Sky Class to a Star Class suite, while you get the upgraded cabin you do not get the Star Class perks (Genie, UDP, DBP, etc.).
I am not sure that is correct based on my reading.

and all these years on CruiseCritic, Royal cruisers were the first to loudly and proudly announce that THEY were the classy cruise line and Carnival was the trash. 😲
They have things like this on Carnival. They call them Saturday night.

Just learned today that we won our RU from a large OV Balcony to JS. The RU site changed to all bids expired except the JS and, less than an hour later, to Upgraded. The RC site showed the change as well. We are 24 days from a 6-day Odyssey cruise, so we received very early notification of the win. The available suites went down substantially today, so it appears they did a lot of upgrades today on the RU site (or tons of people reserved or upgraded the normal way today). Our bid was considered on the edge of "Strong." I will keep looking to see if I can further bid on higher level suites.

Where do you find out how many of each category are left foryour sailing? I see alot of people doing this but don't know how to do it.
Just start booking the same sailing using Royal's site and click through the categories you are bidding on.

I have done the Allure Chef's Table 3 times, with 2 completely different menus and one slightly modified. I think it is definitely worth it to do on separate cruises, but I would hesitate to do it in twice in one B2B. The wine is wonderful and the service and food are excellent, but there will be no variety. Though, only you can tell whether you think the much larger price is worth it to you for essentially the same meal. If it were BOGO or very discounted, I would probably consider it. Enjoy!

It does not change often at all, so probably not during your B2B.

I never heard this. I looked it up and it says prevents hangover. Does anyone know if it prevents getting drunk? I want to get my moneys worth with my drink package… lol
Never tried it, but some of the "experts" suggested that the availability of the yeast's ADH in an acid-rich (2 pH) stomach, where most alcohol is absorbed, would not work effectively (works best at 8.6 pH). Try it and let us know!
-
Also, Fleischmann's active yeast contains the yeast strain Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which contains the ADH enzyme that digests ethanol. Mix some of the dry power in yogurt before drinking and watch how you don't get as drunk.

Royal Up opened for bids on Tuesday, 2/1 for my cruise departing 4/3, for anyone wondering how early the bidding can open. That's 61 days before departure. Hoping they accept that OS bid!

Not if the upgrade is from a regular cabin.
True, which is ridiculous since it is essentially a paid upgrade.

No set time and sometimes it does not show up at all. I have the same problem with my April 2024 Odyssey cruise.
