  1. The waitlist is no "ruse" it does exist...you can waitlist a certain cabin # or a category.

And I am sure that Royal's fabulous IT department have made it certain that you will be notified if your requested cabin becomes available....

Incidentally, despite that I was waitlisted for my requested cabin, I never received any indication that the cabin had become available. Hence, a pretense or pretext.

  2. I have the 2nd to the end aft boardwalk balcony cabin overlooking the Aquatheater. The RCI rep said I might want to monitor the very end cabin to see if it becomes available (our cruise is still about 2 years away). Is there a better/easier/more efficient way to do that other than trying to do a sample booking everyday for the next year-and-a-half to see if the one of the two aft-most cabins open up?

I have been offered to join a wait list for a cabin by a phone rep. I am not sure whether such a thing exists or was a ruse to get me off the phone. I got lucky in that the person who had the cabin I wanted was on our roll call and mentioned that he was going to have to cancel, so I nabbed his cabin with much thanks. In other circumstances, I have checked for the cabin every day with a mock booking.

The UK version of the RC website will show some of the cabins available if you start a mock booking.

  3. So, my question is: Do you register a certain device or does it mean One device can be connected at a time?

I have my tablet and my phone. I don't usually carry my phone around during the day when at the pool, but I do take my tablet. I may take phone with me in the evenings as it is smaller than tablet and fits in my pocket or purse. So I may have some pics on each device and would like to be able to post from either device.

You can use both devices, but only one at a time. If you type logoff.com in the browser, you can then logon to another device.

  4. I believe most tables are dealer stands on soft 17. 1:1 payback on wins, 3:2 on blackjack (not sure if some are 6:5). I believe they use an 8 deck shoe and manually shuffle. Scary part is they use the same cards all week. When the table closes, they just carry the shoe in the back, then bring it back out when it opens up:eek: Not a lot of transparency there.... Hope they didn't accidentally "drop" a couple 10s and Aces in the back:cool:

Dealer hits on a soft 17, at least on Oasis two weeks ago.

  5. For the Comedy Club you might have better luck in the stand by line towards the end of the cruise. We had reservations for the second to last night of the cruise. We were talking to a couple of people in the stand by line and they said they weren't able to get in using stand by in the earlier part of the cruise. All of the people got in from the stand by line and there were still empty seats! So don't give up if you can't get in earlier in the week.

About 10 people got in from a standby line of about 40 on the second day of our cruise. I am guessing you are right about the standby line being better later in the cruise.

A weird thing happened during our comedy show. A woman came in early without her husband and was trying to save a seat on the front row for him. He did not make it by the time they started letting in the standby line, so another person (who looked just like comedian Hannibal Burress) was seated beside her. About 10 minutes into the opening comedian's act, he was bombing. Only polite and nervous laughter. The husband finally wandered in, drunk, and staggered up to about 5 feet in front of the comedian on the stage. He looked around a bit and finally located his wife. Hannibal Burress politely gave up his seat and the drunk guy settled in.

Thereafter, the comedian ripped and riffed on the drunk and was hilarious. We were wondering whether the entire thing was planned; the turnaround by the comedian was that amazing.;)

  6. Went on the Oasis a little over a yr ago. IF I drink diet coke from a fountain, I like these freestyle machines that have the coke zero. LOVE the taste! But I found on Oasis, it didn't taste the same and wasn't very good. Wondering if it was just a fluke or do others find it tastes different?

We're going on the Allure, and want to get the beverage pkg again, but thinking twice if my favorite drink just doesn't taste that good.

    Any input?

It is far from a normal drink machine. Instead of the giant syrup containers, the Freestyle machine dispenses small amounts of flavor along with the specific sweetener (artificial or otherwise) and the carbonated water. http://www.coca-colacompany.com/stories/everything-you-need-to-know-about-coca-cola-freestyle/

I have found that the water used makes a huge difference. The sweetener and flavors are very consistent in the machine cartridges.

  7. How often do they change up the shows on Oasis? We sailed in December 2014 and they had Cats at that time. we will sail again in April 2017 on Oasis... will there be a different Broadway show by then? Also do they change up the other shows more frequently?

    Thanks

Given the investment in sets and special setups, they probably will not change any of the shows substantially by the time you go back next year.

  8. Time limit is about 15 minutes between drinks. Yes, they swipe your card. Sometimes you get a slip to sign, sometimes you don't. I cannot figure out a pattern. Yes, service has slowed down since the beverage packages came out. It helps to be at a bar where the bartender remembers you and the best way to get them to remember you seems to be to tip extra. There is not a total drink limit on your package, but they reserve the right to stop serving you if you are intoxicated.

There is no pre-defined time limit between drinks. They will cut you off to avoid extreme inebriation.

  9. Our last RCCL cruise was back in 2008 and I was able to get a wine package certificate with My Coke Rewards points. Have there been any good Royal Caribbean rewards lately? I just went on the My Coke Rewards website and there are no rewards, but you can enter to win a cruise so I see there is still a relationship between MCR and RCCL.

I haven't seen anything other than the cruise sweepstakes for a couple of years. I am on the MCR website at least once a week, so I would think I would have seen any that were added. Maybe someone else has seen something. I wish they would offer a coupon or money towards a Coke drink package.

  10. Perfect, thanks for the quick replies. I can do without the specialty coffee drinks and juice. I guess it's the wine that may make us upgrade to the Ultimate package.

Does anyone know if you can upgrade from Premium to Ultimate after the first day? If we're really dying for the top tier wines, that might be a way to see if it's worth it.

    Thanks again!

Wine is treated the same in both the Premium and Ultimate packages.

  11. We drive in from Alabama and we've found it more convenient to park at the port. You can save, maybe, five bucks a night if you park elsewhere. We have a very long drive back. Not as long as yours but still fourteen hours. We want to get an early start. We self-debark as early as we can. On our last Oasis cruise, we were off the ship by 0630. We walked about 100 yards to our car and we were on the road by 0645.

You may have a significant wait if you use an offsite lot while waiting for a shuttle. You may have to travel to other stops to pick up other passengers. While it sounds great that the offsite lots will deliver you to your car, that isn't so great if you spend a lot of time waiting while other passengers are dropped at their cars. Some have also reported waiting while the lot moves cars out of the way so they can access their cars.

The shuttles from the stay and park motels can be even worse as they may be servicing passengers going to the airport as well as the cruise port. The stay/park places often do not offer "free" parking. They have one rate to spend the night and another rate if you're leaving your car.

On our next cruise, we are stopping near Orlando and spending the night prior to the cruise. We will be on the road by 0630 and should be at the port by 1030. The savings from staying outside of Fort Lauderdale will more than pay for the difference between port parking and the offsite lots. You may not wish to drive that far on the day of your cruise but there are many, many hotels an hour or so outside of FLL.

I completely understand your concerns and that you are willing to pay for the convenience. There have been times that I have simply paid to be close and easy. That said, Park 'n' Go shuttles have always come within 5 minutes of our clearance of customs. They go straight to their facility and straight back, even helping with the luggage. At most, it has taken an extra 10 minutes. I highly recommend them for people who do not mind leaving their keys.

  12. You won't see that in the buffet on any RCI ship! It's kind of odd that seafood (and I mean good seafood) is not part of a ship's menu. They serve different kinds of fish, but I've never had any that were very good.

Not correct. There are multiple reports of crab legs and even, occasionally, lobster in Windjammer on formal nights. Try a thread search and you can find.

  13. I use Cheerios because I have high cholesterol as well and they are a big part of that diet too.

I will be bringing a few of my own foods that I know work for me.

I am four month in with no medicine ... Down 27 pounds and my fasting numbers went from 157 to an average of 105. Diet alone - no medicine. Its been a total change of life.

Congrats on the great progress! As a long-time diagnosee, just know that there will be ups and downs. Chronic diseases are a pain in the backside. Keep up the good work!

  14. I did not see the ages of your kids posted, but I would suggest a BW balcony if they are 10-12 or younger. The view outside the CP balconies is serene and quiet and perfect to relax after a busy day. There is much more activity and more to see outside the BW balcony. Your kids might enjoy the lively atmosphere more.

There is much more noise on the boardwalk until about 11-12 p.m., but I have found the disruption minimal with the balcony door closed and locked.

  15. We love both and choose to eat at both experiences whenever offered. However, even given the opportunity to make some minor changes to what is offered, I would choose another option for a picky eater. My favorite is the Chef's Table, but the wine pairing design would not make it worth it for me if I could or would not eat the offered courses.

If you must choose, 150 CP provides the opportunity to choose between two different menus (assuming they have eliminated the multiple entree option on your cruise).

Wherever you dine, I hope you have a great meal and find something to your liking.:)

  16. We are booked on an upcoming Rhapsody cruise and I would love to try the chefs table experience on RCCL, however my DH, (GOD bless him for indulging me) has a terrible allergy to saltwater shellfish. It's only a contact allergy but still severe. (it only affects him if he actually consumes shellfish or it comes it contact with his lips or mouth) Does anyone have experience with this or has anyone seen anyone else as a guest at the chefs table with an allergy? I dont expect them to alter the menu in any way but would they offer him an alternative course or plate for any course that otherwise contains shellfish? Naturally I will be letting our concierge know a week or two before we sail, I was just wondering if anyone had experience or could advise... Thanks and happy cruising everyone!

On our last Chef's table, one of the patrons did not eat seafood and was partially accommodated with some substitute dishes. Maybe someone can chime in as far as who to contact to arrange something like that.
