  1. Hi All,

I just wanted to share something with new cruisers (and old if they do not know this).

As I am sure you are aware each cruiser will have gratuities & tips added to their SeaPass account every day (unless you have paid these in advance with your booking).

I don't actually agree with these automatic tips, as I feel that I should decide who has earned this & most importantly how much I wish to tip.

As a family of 5 travelling the cost per day @ $13.50 for 7 days will be quite considerable at $472.50! Now I can honestly say that I would never tip this much during a weeks land holiday so will certainly not be forced to pay this at sea.

Now for those of you not in the know, please take note. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY. That's right, there is not obligation on your part to pay. The booking information and website will not highlight this as RC want you to pay. When reading their information is does make you feel like this is obligatory, however if you read the very, very small print you will note this is not the case. All you need to do is go to reception on Day 1 and ask that these gratuities & tips are removed from your account....and voila!

You can then reward the staff members that you want to reward.

    Happy cruising.

    Thank You for the information.

  2. First let me say.....we are retired, we love to cruise and we never book anything we can't pay for in full.

That being said....this year we cruised in January, March and are booked to cruise in November. Found a great deal on another one in October that hubby wants to book.:o:o.

I have always been the conservative one in the family and had to handle all the bills and save all the money. While I am very tempted, a part of me still wants to be that conservative one, even though it's not necessary anymore.

Anyone else start getting cold feet when you think you have booked "too many"......:confused:[/quote

Tomorrow is not promised. Go for it.

  3. We headed right up the Windjammer for lunch before it started to get busy! Afterwards we wandered around the ship exploring until the rooms were ready!

As you can tell it was a little overcast and blah this morning but who cares we are going on a cruise! LOL

You can see the Statue of Liberty from the Port

The line into the port is getting long and busy at this point...

Glad we were early and are already on board! :)

What side of the ship is the Statue of Liberty on?

  4. I'm getting to the point for my next cruise that I do something cruise related every day. I'll spend a few upcoming Saturday mornings studying the deck plans as it has been 8 years since we have been on a Voyager class ship. Does anyone know if the deck plans on Royal's site are up to date at least a little ? Is the Diamond Club still up on Deck 14 near the VCL? I know Chops isn't open yet, but it is really going to be deck 4? I kind of thought it would be up near the Windjammer like it was when I was on Navigator back in 09.

    I do the same thing>:)

  5. Smoking on balcony

As Jan. 1,2014 smoking is no longer allowed on the balconies.

If someone does, most likely they will be turned in by one of their neighbors.

    Those who disobey

    1st time - warning

    2nd time - fine

3rd time - pack your bags because you're leaving the ship at the next port.

RCL takes their smoking policy very seriously.

That's Great. Like Button if there was one.

  6. Cruise Day 2: St. Maarten

We have visited St. Maarten three or four times, but this was our kids’ first visit. We knew they would be most interested in Maho Beach. We had done Bernard’s Tours before as a private tour with our roll call. We had such a great day that we wanted to do it again. Unfortunately, this was a much more reserved group and while it was a good day, we ended up wishing we had just rented a car and drove to Maho. Next year, we will.

Did you Photoshop the sign? We go there every year and I never seen the sign that clean.
