I am on the Magic for her 20 July 2019 sailing from Port Everglades. This is the first week-long cruise I've taken on Carnival that doesn't begin with a sea day. Instead, we start with two port days: Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk.
When will the elegant nights be? Is it always the 2nd night of the cruise? Or is it always the night of the first sea day?
Here's the complete itinerary:
Sat - Fort Lauderdale
Sun - Half Moon Cay
Mon - Grand Turk
Tue - At Sea
Wed - Aruba
Thu - Curaçao
Fri - At Sea
Sat - At Sea
Sun - Fort Lauderdale
I am trying to decide which nights to book at the Steakhouse, as I'd like to avoid doing so on the first elegant night.

When are you sailing? I'll be in a Family Harbour Deluxe Ocean View for my sailing on 06 April.
-
Yes, you can leave your kids in Camp Ocean whilst you go ashore. I have done it on several different Carnival ships.
-
Does anyone have a list of the songs in Amore Cubano? My daughter loves the show so I want to put together a Spotify playlist for her.
Cheers.

I sailed on the Seaside last summer, and I really enjoyed both the ship and MSC. It was different in a lot of ways, but of the lines I've tried, I thought the aesthetic was most like NCL.
I can't comment on the drink packages, as I don't drink alcohol, with very rare exceptions.
You need to have the "Aurea" experience or higher to get their anytime dining. I was booked in Bella, so we had the middle assigned time (19:30, I think). I did miss having anytime dining, as I prefer it, but we also did a lot of speciality dining, so we didn't miss it too much.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Here are some photos I took on my cruise:

The lack of Coke products is the #1 thing I dislike most about NCL. LOL.

Does anyone know why the Encore has such limited availability of Ocean View staterooms that accommodate more than two people? When I search for 3 people, OV rooms are NA on all but two sailings through April 2021.

Has anyone done the Chef's Table as a party of one? I'm thinking of trying it on the Sensation this weekend if it's still available, but I'm cruising with my 7 year old daughter, so it would only be me if I decide to go.
Does anyone have the current menu?

Are Carnival currently serving romaine lettuce in their Caesar salads? I am hoping to be able to enjoy my favourite Caesar at sea on the Sensation in a couple of weeks. 🙂

Free internet when using the two computer terminals inside the Family Harbor Lounge
Is this still a perk in the Family Harbor Lounge on the Horizon? I can't seem to find confirmation of this anywhere else.

I haven't received any email at all. Anyone else?
I haven't heard anything at all from NCL
Same here, and they definitely have my email address.

Tomorrow it is a mix of Boeing 737s and 767s. All charters to Miami. First flight out of SJU at 9:15 AM AST, give or take. Last flight at 10:00 PM AST, give or take. Total of about 10 flights spread out over the entire day/evening.
I must say that this is a monumental effort on the part of NCL and its contractors, both in SJU and MIA, to get everyone home as fast as possible. Not an easy task. At all. Thank you to everyone for being as kind as possible to the crews: ship, shore or air. They are working very hard to make the best out of a very complicated situation.
DISCLAIMER: NONE OF THIS INFORMATION IS OFFICIAL, FINAL OR SANCTIONED BY NCL. I am just going out on a limb here to try and ease your minds. I WILL DENY EVERYTHING UNDER INTERROGATION.
Where are you getting this information??

A bit of an update, FWIW, an NCL recovery team has arrived in San Juan to further assist with the situation.
Where is this team located and what exactly are they able to do for us??

I am on the Jade. Following this thread to see information as it's being shared here.

We have done Maho several times and are looking for something different. Are there any non-beach recommendations? What about Marigot? Anything interesting over there since the hurricanes? I know the pastry shop is gone. 😞

looked again - no OBC for the inside guarantee cabin with the 3rd person free perk. Under Offers it says:
YOUR OFFERS
Friends & Family
Now, if I try to "book" a balcony, it says
YOUR OFFERS
Friends & Family
Wifi
$100 onboard spending
Sorry - you are correct. It looks like the $50 OBC for the interior was due to my NCL Latitudes profile, as they have double points and OBC for past guests as one of the promotions. If I log out of NCL.com, the OBC does, indeed, go away. :(

By the way, we also considered Harmony of the Seas, but the value of the 10 day sailing for significantly less money appealed to my bargain hunting side.

Hi. I know we've posted in the other Bliss Vs Jade thread, but I thought I would add here that, based on your posts here, it sounds like the itinerary would outweigh just about any other areas where NCL or the Jade would otherwise fall short of your expectations.
Which ports would be new to you? I've been to San Juan, St Thomas, and St Maarten. They are probably my three favourite Caribbean ports to date, with only Havana topping them. The other "Saints" on the sailing will be new to us.
The ports were one of the biggest factors in why we cancelled the Bliss in favour of the Jade. As you can see from my signature, we are also ready for new places!!
P.S. My daughter does the kids programme, but would also be happy to play with your son outside of camp.
-
that's exactly why I am looking at Jade. DS will only miss one day of school - Monday, and the itinerary has interesting ports we haven't been to before. The price is reasonable (but not low).
It's interesting that if I choose the lowest guarantee inside stateroom and to pay for all three of us, the total is a little cheaper than if I were to choose a more expensive inside guarantee room with the 3rd person free perk.
That IS interesting. I just tried it, myself. $2035 with 3rd person free, $2004 without. LOL
That being said, the $2035 rate does come with $50 OBC, so it's a little cheaper to do it that way if you factor that in. :)
Incidentally, if you price out an OV that comes with the Free at Sea offers, you can get the free drinks package, and the total would be $2791, plus $50 OBC. If you plan to buy the drinks package separately, then that would be a net savings and a cabin with a window.
When we booked, we got all 5 offers because of the promo they were running. The drinks package would be wasted on me most of the time because I don't drink very much, but it will be nice to be able to order my fruity drinks and sodas and not have to worry about the bar tab. LOL

For us, we chose the Jade because of the itinerary, because the 10-day aligned well with our schedules (which can't be counted on happening again), and because my daughter still had plenty of fun on the Pearl. We will miss not having Ocean Blue and Food Republic, and the Go Karts and water slides would have been fun, but our daughter sails FREE on the Jade, and we didn't feel those few things were worth having to pay her fare, given the other considerations. I am looking forward to the ports we've been to before, and to visiting three new ports. I think it's going to be a fantastic cruise...even more so because all the pieces seemed to fall into place in terms of schedule, cost, perks, etc. At the end of the day, how can you go wrong, either way. LOL
-
I am considering the same Jade cruise on Nov 16, also with a 7 yo kiddo. :)
Cool! Let me know if you decide to book. My daughter loves to make friends!!
-
I just went through this same decision, Jade vs Bliss, sailing with a 7 year old. I cancelled the Bliss and went with the Jade. I hope I made the right choice. LOL

Was told by our TA that the Free at Sea $50per cabin per port could also be combined with the Distinctive Voyage promo. Hope she's right.
What is the Distinctive Voyage promo?
Something Different in Nassau: Fly a 737!!
in Bahamas
Posted
If you're looking for a unique experience next time you're there, then I highly recommend having a go at flying a 737 at Jetline Simulation Bahamas LTD. This is now my go-to activity in Nassau, as it's a short walk from the port. The guys are great with people of all ages and experience levels, and you can have a great time even as a family and even if you've never flown before. I just booked Labour Day weekend on the Victory, so I'll be flying again soon!
