Wasn’t impressed with the yoga class on the Apex last May.  Very small room and a third of the class had never taken yoga.  He started late, ended early total class time 35 minutes.  Instructor seemed bored the entire time.  It was $23 with the included gratuity.

Oh yikes.  Not concerned about the level of expertise but if it’s supposed to be 45 minutes, it should be 45 minutes.

Do you recall if there was an option to purchase a group of yoga classes?

    thanks for the response!

  2. In prepping for my next cruises (Eclipse in Oct and Nov), I am hoping to get a yoga class package.  Are those still offered?

I see that cycling and cardio boxing packages are available pre-cruise, but not yoga (or Pilates).

    TIA!

  3. The problems of a new ship seem common from what i recall from other recent launches.  It takes a while for the crew to get into a groove and figure things out.

Super excited to try out the Edge but it will be AT LEAST a year before we book on her. We have a December 2018 Caribbean and a Sept 2019 Mediterranean cruise already on the books.

Thanks to all for sharing and keep tbe comments (and pics) coming!

  4. I’m thrilled with this announcement. We just got off of the Eclipse in May and this was a comment I specifically shared with Celebrity.

Get rid of the plastic straws!!! With EVERY SINGLE DRINK we ordered came a brand new plastic straw!!! And no way to give them back because they were “open”. We even specifically requested to the server “we don’t need a straw” - I think it was engrained into their brains “insert straw into drink”. Even worse was when the drinks were delivered with the straw and they realized what they had done and just removed them. Talk about waste!

I’m all for people getting straws who need or want them. I’m hoping the move to paper straws (which are more expensive) will lead to people actually having to ask for one, as opposed to it being automatically provided.

THANK YOU CELEBRITY (and RCI) FOR LISTENING!!! ❤️❤️❤️

  5. We also did the Celebrity Norwegian fjords itinerary out of Southampton in 2016. It was an amazing cruise! We chose this vacation for my husband’s 40th bday and my parents joined us.

We stopped in Bergen, Ålesund, Flaam, Stavanger, and Geiranger. All of the stops were fantastic and we enjoyed some good weather and relatively smooth seas. Bring lots of layers and a good rain jacket. I liked cruising from Britain so we had a sea day at the beginning and end of the cruise. I’m guessing cruising from Dublin would have a similar set up.

As far as Dublin goes, we loved this as an embarkation port. Easy to fly in/out of, amazing scenery, and lovely locals! We just got back from the Ireland/Iceland cruise and I recommend that one as well.

    Enjoy Norway, it’s beyond amazing.

  6. thank you so much! I have found a private tour operator who is willing to do a golden circle tour for our odd port hours, but I'm thinking we might just rent a car instead, or perhaps for just the second day in Reykjavik :)

It’s definitely doable. Although if it’s your first time in Iceland, a hired driver is nice because you’ll want to look at everything!!!

We rented a car with EuropCar in Akureyri. Super easy to get to the rental hut here too but we didn’t have the best experience. Just be sure to check the fuel tank and watch for upcharges. They said we had a full tank but actually the tank empty when we set out!!!

  7. Thanks for that, we are using Enterprise in August when we go to Iceland, looks nice and handy. Can you park your car there? We are there for 2 days and are hiring for the 1st day and won’t be back until late, planning on parking there and then handing the keys back the next morning.

Yes! We parked the car at Enterprise overnight (we got back to the ship around midnight on Day 1) and came back to the car for some local area driving. Easy peasy! Enjoy it, this was our 2nd time in Iceland and its one of our favorite spots in the world!

  8. We enjoy formal night

Based on this alone, I would say to bring the cream tux coat! You won’t be alone but you’ll be in the minority. I think you will attract admiring glances. I love formal night too and tend to dress up more than my husband.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  9. We were on this May 10th sailing as well.

We were able to get off the ship in Reykjavik immediately, only a 5 minute line. I agree it was a relatively steep incline though. I was surprised they disembarked from Deck 4 (instead of deck 3). We had arranged to pick up our car rental at the pier, and it was very convenient. A perfect spot and we were able to park the car overnight and venture out early on the 2nd day.

It was an amazing cruise and despite the less than perfect weather on the sea days (which was fine by me), we had close to perfect weather at the ports! I hope everyone has as good of luck!

  10. The hardest part of packing is figuring out how much we can fit in our big suitcase without going over the weight limit, and then trying to cram everything else into our rolling carry on bags and backpacks.

That’s our hardest part as well! We usually check two bags (one per person) so It’s a game to see how close we can get to 50lbs in each bag!

  11. I wanted to book a 7 night Fjords cruise April 27th 2019 and the only perk I was offered from 2 UK TA's was the classic drinks. No OBC or internet. With one I could get half price tips and the other $110.00 speciality dining voucher.. I will wait to see what the summer offers are

One comment on the internet on the Norwegian Fjords cruise... when we went in August 2016, the Internet was VERY spotty. This may have changed but it was something the crew discussed and made passengers aware of. So if you are in a position to get another perk, maybe pick something besides internet for this specific cruise.

  12. We’ve been on both and I really enjoyed the itinerary of the Summit RT San Juan. As far as the ship itself, I do prefer the S class ships in general but the Solstice, Eclipse, and Equinox aren’t quite as nice as the Reflection and Silhouette.

I’d probably go with the Summit and the better itinerary. That being said, we are sailing on Equinox in late December (Christmas cruise).

Either one you pick, you’ll have a great cruise, enjoy!
