  1. I don't get the complaints about not having real plates/cups. When I'm sick, I don't care what I have.

They do the same thing if they isolate someone to the cabin for stomach concerns. A few weeks ago my sister went to medical with sun poisoning or a stomach bug, and they isolated her. Everything from room service was in disposal fashion.

They also delivered room service on disembarkation day. I had no idea she had ordered anything and was the only one who heard the knocks so I was confused when I answered.

  2. Yeah,

I told my mom and sister is was cheaper to book a balcony and then an inside. Honestly the inside would just be used for sleeping and then no complaints over the couch bed or snoring.

We probably won’t book for awhile but we will keep it in mind.

A while back royal split up the same exact cabins into sub categories whether they can fit 2 or 3/4. This allows them to charge more or less for the 3/4 passenger in a room based on what they want. I've seen the 3/4 cabins cheaper than the two some times.

This is often really prevalent when royal is running a kids sail free sale - like they're doing now. They can up the price of guest 1/2 in the 3/4 cabins while still letting guest 3/4 go "free" if they're under 12. Though this sale screws over people that want someone over 12 as the third. You might see better pricing once the kids sale is over.

So because it’s a third adult we are paying a lot more?

I’ll check once the kids sail free is over. It seems like it’s almost every cruise I’ve looked at.

  4. I’ve been looking to book another cruise.
On a few different test bookings, it’s always cheaper to have just 2 people in a room and not add a third.
Example when booking the room for 2, the cost is $600 each.
When you add a third person it jumps to $900 a person! Same category room and all.

Is this common? Shouldn’t it be cheaper to add a third person?

  5. We just departed Freedom this AM. Prior to the cruise our travel agent gave us $50 obc plus another $150. Royal had Also seemed to give us a promotional obc of $25 in the cruise planner that said it had to be used on pre cruise purchases.

when we boarded Royal only had a record of the $50+$25. We called and emailed the TA who confirmed the additional $150 should be there but it may not show until night 2. We couldn’t make it to guest services night 2 due to a medical issue.

We stopped by last night and they still didn’t see it.
Our travel agent is insisting they sent it over and Royal is telling us we used it all. We had only used the $75.

I have sent screenshots showing our onboard statements. The only bill went to my card. Also somehow our tips show refunded this morning which we didn’t ask for. Not sure if it’s because my sister was in isolation ?

If the TA can’t assist what is our next step?

I think the $10 a day that AT&T offers is a better deal…but if I’m at sea, what can I really do?  If it makes people more comfortable, so be it..who am I to question?

You must have some very cool pets.  Our dog hates the internet. 🙂

Like I said, people will pay.

I have two cats that I'm having a cat sitter come in and check on. I'd like to be able to keep in contact with her should anything come up. The $20 a day in worth putting my mind at ease. I can also check in with my neighbors. We lost a cat suddenly at the end of 2020 who was only a year old so I'm willing to do whatever to be in contact.

Plus I can check on life in general.

I’m convinced that some people will pay anything for internet, the cruise lines know it, and are taking full advantage…I don’t blame them.  Some people just can’t disconnect.  It’s such a foreign thought these days..

Some of us have pets, loved ones etc back home that we need to keep in contact with?

Some OBC shows up in your cruise planner while other shows up on board on day 2.  You need to look at your copy of Royals booking invoice.  If it shows you have OBC then that will show up in your cruise planner.  You should see it listed at the top of the page as available and when you go to check out there is a radio button you can select to use the obc to pay for your purchase and select how much you want to use.

If you are not seeing the obc then there has been a mistake or it will not appear until you board.

If you let us know what yhe obc is from we can let you know when you should see it.

It's not showing on the invoice the TA sent.

  9. Hi all,

We have onboard credit we will have to use for our cruise. Some will go towards gratuities, but we also want to take a tour. When you book them online, it seems to charge your credit card like it did for the drink package.

How can we use our OBC towards this purchase?

  10. Hi all,

If I pick the one device plan, does that mean I can only use it on my phone?

Or is there a way to disconnect my phone in able to log into my laptop?

Also with the basic internet, will I be able to access facebook/instagram/twitter? Or do I need the surf added to it?

    First time cruiser.

Also if I pick the 2 devices, can one be a family members phone too?

I'm pretty certain if it says there's a pullman, that means it is not a sleeper couch.  It would specify the couch instead of the pullman, it should be one or the other in rooms with that occupany.

Thanks. I even tried booking thru Royal's site but it only gives the pullman option rooms. Frustrating!

  12. Hi all,

Newbie to cruising here. We are cruising on freedom of the seas.

Looking at room 7328. Deckplan says something about a 3rd pullman. Does the couch turn into a bed as well?

There are 3 adults going. My sister and I are both 5'9 and while I've lost a lot of weight, I still wouldn't feel safe up there. Not sure on the weight limit.

We cannot put my mom up there as she is nearing 70 years old.

We need a room midship for sea-sickness reasons. Just trying to make sure we are ok.

  13. I'd prefer a 4 night cruise for the value, but those run M-F with Royal mostly and I don't want to take an entire week off work in case I'm miserable.

I plan on buying and packing the following:

    Seabands

    Seasickness patch

    Anti Nausea medicine

    Any other suggestions?

No discussion of TAs allowed here on CC.

IMO: best hotel for MIA port is the Intercontinental. Taxi to port is <$10.

    Thanks,

I didn't realize Costco counted as one. If we book thru anyone that isn't direct with RCCL is it hard to get price drops?

  15. Hi all

Looking at booking my first cruise. My mom and sister have taken a cruise before but I have not. Right now we are looking at a short 3 day on RCCL in case I can't tolerate being on a ship. (Sea sickness).

We are looking at sailing from Miami.

Are there any good hotels in the area that offer a free shuttle to the cruise port?

Also is booking thru Costco a good idea, and if the rate drops, what is the policy?

    Thank you for any help!
