  1. We just got back today from Bermuda we were on Celebrity Summit we went to St. Catherine's last Thursday and had a wonderful time the beach was beautiful as always and the concession stand is open and they rent chairs and chaise loungers for$11.00 also umbrellas the food looked good and was not that expensive for Bermuda, there are 2 port o potties located behind the stand on the other side of the road and the stand has electricity to it since he has 2 refrigerators inside the stand no alcohol yet They open up at 11:00 am we took the 9:30 am ferry over from the dockyard there was only about 25 people there the whole day.

  2. All I was saying, in response to you saying you thought maybe it was an old concession stand, that it wasn't.

This is not my picture but here's what USED to be there.

That picture in the backround was the old Club Med which never worked out for Bermuda they knocked it down and so far it has not been used or redevloped.

  3. Here is what it looked like five years ago. No stand, no chairs, a couple of people. If you look on the left of my photo at about two thirds from the top are the porta potties. It sounds like something is happening there so looking forward to your update.

We are going on the Summit cruise on Aug. 30th and plan on giving it a shot hopefully they have chairs there we loved this beach in the past will let you know how it was when we get back.

  4. We were just there in June and they were building something there (looked like some type of stand...maybe food or rental??). Anyhow, they DO HAVE CHAIRS...and they are free. We were told by the workers to just grab a chair and pull it where we wanted (they were stacked and plenty of them).

HERE'S a link to my pictures there that day. It's a beautiful beach.

We loved that beach always went there when the ships docked at ST Georges but we have not been back in years since all the ships now dock at the Dockyard and the beach was closed up really missed that they closed up the snack bar and did away with the chair rentals. We are going back to Bermuda at the end of August and would love to return to this beach so can we rent beach chairs? Is there a snack bar not a big deal but just wondering.

  5. Can anyone who recently renewed their passports tell me how long it took to get the new ones? I sent the forms in on June 8th and still have not recieved them I know they they got them since I sent them certified mail and the checks cleared a week later, getting nervous going on our cruise end of Aug. and hope to have them in time.

Just checked with the post office since I was there any way and they said they should issue them no later than 6 weeks they gave me a number to call so I did and they said they were mailed out yesterday so I should recieve them by Thursday. Thanks everyone for your responses.

  7. Hey there, Bozo! I think we were on Summit with you, last Labor Day -- remembering you, from the roll-call. We took Summit to Bermuda in May, and I'm sad to report that the great live entertainment we enjoyed last year is no longer around. I remember Nestor (great flamenco guitarist) from our cruise. He's no longer onboard Summit (don't know if he's on another ship or not). They've also discontinued "54 Below", "Sin City", "Tenors of Rock". And, Jordan Peterson's replacement on piano falls woefully short of the mark, IMHO.:(

That's hard to accept we really enjoyed him last year sitting at the Sunset Bar in the evening with a drink and enjoying his music. Hope they have some one who can at least be as good but I don't think that will happen from reading some of the reviews Celebrity seems to be cutting back on many things including entertainment that's a shame. Will have to see after this cruise if we still prefer Celebrity they are not making me happy

  8. Last year we sailed on the Summit to Bermuda in Aug. we are going again this year. There was a fantastic Latin Guitarist named Nestor Santurio who performed thru out the ship I was wondering if he is on the Summit this year. If not is he on any other Celebrity ship?

  9. We were on the Nov 1st repo cruise Diamond and above were in Maharaja's lounge you could get any drink you want from 4:30 to 8:00 pm but this was a special cruise the final Explorer cruise out of Bayonne and there were many Diamond and above passengers on board. I doubt they wood be doing this for future cruises.

  10. Hi everyone,

In the past when I print out the SetSail pass, there are 2 x marked places for me to sign. One for the cruise contract and the other one for the onboard expense account.

In our upcoming cruise in November on the Explorer of the Seas, when I print out the SetSail pass, I don't see those 2 x marked places for my signature. I'm wondering is there something wrong with my printer, bug in the software or is this how the new SetSail pass look like. I also did a print preview and the result is the same thing.

    Thanks

I thought the same thing when I printed out the pass we will be on the Explorer this coming Sat. a friend was recently on the Explorer his pass was the same no where to sign and was no problem maybe they changed the format of the pass

  11. I think that we should all wait to when it is actually introduced on the Quantum in Nov. and see what people have to say about it after a few cruises. Quantum will have 18 dining venues I doubt that they could put that many on some of their older ships, some will be included in the basic cruise fare and others will charge extra.

  12. Hi all! New to the community and first time user. Was introduced to the community on my Alaska trip last month. Now on my way to Bermuda with a girlfriend on Aug 3 on the Summit and leaving from NJ. So any help getting started and involved with the community group will be appreciated. :)

Go to the roll call for August 3rd those people should be able to help you out more than this one.

  13. Have a lot of cruises under my belt, many with Celebrity, but no experience with Bermuda or Cape Liberty. Will be departing on the Summit on June 15. Staying the night before at the Intercontinental in Times Square. What time do you recommend arriving at Cape Liberty, and what would be a good time to have the car service pick us up at the hotel to head over there. Also what time recommended for debarkation and car service pick up at the end of the cruise for transfer to LaGuardia- flight departure time is 2:55pm. Any hot tips on something not to be missed in Bermuda would be great, too. THANK YOU, THANK YOU

Buy the 2 day or 3 day bus and ferry pass you will be able to have access to the entire island and you would be able to go and see what ever you want But do sum research to where you want to go.

  14. I'm from New Jersey, and I have also been watching closely for Summer 2015 itineraries and pricing. Yesterday when they announced that Quantum is leaving and the Liberty would be sailing from Bayonne during this timeframe, I went online to find that itineraries were loaded onto the website and no pricing was available... today pricing came up. I priced 2 E-level balcony cabins (connecting E1 and E3) for my family of 5 for the 9-night itinerary. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw that the price was nearly $14K total for 5 of us. WHAT?!

Just for giggles, I checked the Freedom (same class) for the same week leaving Florida on the 7-night - in the identical cabins as what I was looking at on the Liberty, the Freedom priced out at $7100. So I know, comparing a 9-night to a 7-night, but DOUBLE the price???

I did do an additional comparisons - just to see what the competition is doing in the same market... the Breakaway (NCL's newest ship) sails the 7-day Bermuda the same week as well. Again, a 7-night vs. a 9-night, but the pricing on the Breakaway for 2 mid-ship balcony staterooms for my same 5 people came to a total of ~$9100 ---- for anyone who is not a math whiz out there, that is nearly $5000 less.

Celebrity Summit (btw...owned by the same parent company) also does a 7-night Bermuda itinerary from the same pier in Bayonne the same week as the Liberty itinerary... $~7600 for my family of 5 in 2 Veranda staterooms.

I just have to wonder if Royal pricing themselves out of the NY/NJ market? Here's hoping that they realize that the math is not working for them... or am I totally off my game and missing something that would make this 9-night on the Liberty from Bayonne worth THIS kind of money???

Do not book it now very few will book at those prices I believe the prices will come down.

  15. We are possibly booking the same trip and were wondering if the pools on the actual ship will be warm enough to swim in since it is in a cold climate so much of the time? We have two 6 year olds who can't wait to swim!!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

They pump up the water to the pools where they are docked our at sea it might be a little cold at that time in Bermuda.

  16. To be honest I'm not sure if there's a way to get there on your own or not. We're big on your owners, but it's soooo easy to do it from the ship, that I don't even think it would be worth it to try to do this on your own in Samana. You go directly from the ship to the island via boat. You'd have to tender in just to get to wherever you need to go to take a boat over to the island. Just not worth it to me even though it's WAY overpriced.

    Cindy

Seems like we might just stay on the ship to much money to just lay on a beach for a few hours I can do that on the ship.
