As suggested by @TTEllis , here is the best operator on the island.  He will take care of everything, from the tour to a timed collection.   Lawrence will be happy to discuss ensuring one has a great day, getting the best possible experience of this beautiful island.
    Enjoy -

    Thank you Todd.

I tried him as saw he was recommended but he has no beach tours that day just the group set tour and we are not wanting all those sites. Just wanting 2-3 and beaches so looking for something more private that we can customize

Take a cab and do a short tour to one’s requirements.  Then get dropped off at Catherine’s for a lunch, drinks, beds, beach, sea, boutique shop etc..  When ready to return, Catherine’s will call one a cab.

Trying to avoid the cab scenario after reading all the posts here about them and prefer to have something prebooked

  3. We are looking for a private or small group while here as only wanting to see a few sights and have more beach time then cruise beach excursions give. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Good itinerary - Three deep Norwegian fjords, three Norwegian coastal towns and the North Cape.
However, two things are missing for it to be the perfect Norwegian fjord and Arctic Circle cruise. A visit to Bergen and cruising in June/July to experience the midnight sun. In mid-August there is no midnight sun at the North Cape

Thanks for the info. Picked what I gathered was best option after reading so much on here so not sure how I missed Bergen. Will have to see if we can make earlier date work if offered.  We choose August because of anniversary 🤷🏼‍♀️. First overseas cruise so all these stops are new and will need lots of research

We've never reserved any of the Main Dining Rooms on any ship. Granted, we're usually a party of two and can be seated within two minutes of walking up to the hostess desk.

Having said that, we were a party of six on the Prima and never had a problem just showing up without a reservation and being seated within a couple of minutes. YMMV...

Thanks. Party of 2 as well and don’t mind waiting a bit if need be. Was just looking forward to not planning around dinner reservations

Nope. That is not even available onboard.

Oh wow okay. Trying to learn the differences and excited to try something new.  I’ve been told NCL is only one that does freestyle dining well but seeing reservations available in the app but hoping they aren’t needed

No. NCL has 21 MDR menus that they can rotate through. The executive chef will set the menu months in advance and provision for that set of menus on the cruise.

Could a chef duplicate a popular menu on more than one night, maybe, but not normally.

Is there anywhere to see these as app doesn’t show them like RCCL and trying to plan specialty dining

3rd week on Oasis with the new menu...no deviation to the menu period. My friend asked for cocktail sauce instead of Thai chili sauce with her coconut shrimp and was told no, they didn't make it today!

HW came by to reiterate no special requests.

Kids menu always has spaghetti marinara and fruit cocktail so they accommodate that.

Apart from cost reduction, the speed is much quicker. First week I dined solo and was in and out in under 30 minutes! Plates appear to be pre made.

The whole experience has been "dumb downed" making it very disappointing.

We spent 17 days on Oasis early January and first 10 days was old menu but we had dining package and then for the 7 day they switched to new menus and we only tried the dining room 3 times as even asking for sauces etc on the side was an issue and i have stomach issues but not an allergy and there was no flexibility at all.  For lunch one day there was a spicy spaghetti and i asked for sauce on the side as i couldn't have spice and didn't even ask for a sauce substitution and they brought me cold pasta and butter with an attitude.  The food did seem to be premade.  We gave up after 3 times and grabbed stuff elsewhere.  It sure was not what we had been expecting as didnt plan on asking for stuff not on the menu but there was no flexibility at all.

I've priced Celebrity, NCL, and Royal. While Royal's base is the least, once you add the drink package, and compare with NCL's Free at Sea, and Celebrity's all inclusive, Royal comes out the highest. With Celebrity, i add the premium drinks, and get $300.00 OBC. A no brainer. Celebrity, right now is the best bargain at sea, not counting MSC.

I'm actually gonna look at some of these as our January cruise has the delux at just under $125 Cdn per person which is out and out crazy and would cost us more then our cruise actually did.  We have never seen prices this high before.  Hoping they will come down as date gets closer but seems like they have been higher all around.

Thanks ALL !  I believe you all confirmed my gut instincts.. We're scheduled for a late jan, 9 night on Explorer - we'll see..

    Again, thanks all for responding.

We did 9 nights on Explorer Jan 23 of this year and only remember seeing a few kids so if there were a bunch on board they must have all been in the kids club.  We had a great variety of ages on our cruise and really enjoyed it.

  11. Thank you. Don't think a longer itinerary would work as they are sun-sun and being from western canada we have a full day of travel to get home before back to work on the Monday. I'm seeing haven on big ships only, is that the case or am I missing it on the smaller ships?

Funny how on previous vacations we avoided popular areas when cruise ships were in port, but now considering being part of them. Was fun in a Cayman a few times to hit up the public beach when ships were in as the beach hot so busy we felt like we had the Miami beach vibe going on.
