Having done numerous buffets in Vegas and on Royal ships...
The easiest way to compare...will be subjective based on personal tastes and food selection.
Overall -----
Royal (Windjammer) Buffet (scale of 1 to 10) = 5 - 6, depending on the specific ship
Vegas Buffets (same scale) = 3, 5, 7, 8, 9
Put simply...without a specific buffet (like the Bellagio Buffet - 7, or Paris Buffet - 6, Encore Buffet - 9), comparisons are pretty much meaningless and most subjective.
I agree with this. The WJ is better than many Vegas buffets, but not as good as the better ones.

I would not fly all that way on the same day. That far i'd want 2 days in hand

On Explorer her first cruise back in Miami after this year's TA. Looking forward to it! It's been since 2007 since I cruised on her last! It'll be interesting to see an earlier version of the Voyager class ship after having been on Navigator in September. I'll certainly enjoy the Diamond Lounge while it's still in it's rightful place on Deck 14 😢
The Nov 19th? Me too.
And i last cruised her in 2002!

We don't use that kind of word down here in Texas.
It's a little too wimpy.
I thought is was a Euro word.
But sound like a term that a baby would say.....
There arent really Euro words, there are french, german spanish etc words.
Nibble is widely used in the UK

On day of embarkation you can sometimes get a deal for that night.

I am on in Nov, and i'll let you know if the bags are different now it is sailing out of Miami instead of Europe.

I can currently see the same "deal" in my cruise planner ($91.77 CAD for up to 8 people). I figured it was a glitch and they wouldn't honour it once they realize.
I personally would (if i wanted it) book it at the 'mistake' price.
Then bug them on social media until they play fair. Go back and call again? I have heard many stories here that if you complain more than once, and try a different person its all good.
Example. Someone on my sailing just booked a few days ago (after final pmt date). Price went down quite a lot 24/36 hours after they booked. called and told Nada. Asked for a supervisor, told none available. Called again, asked for supervisor and almost $90 back PP. Even after final payment date.
So just try again and go to social media pages if you dont get any joy?
Having said this, not a cabana person. A chair on the beach with some sun/shade is all i need.

Yes, we can keep these type of gifts. Most of the time, I get candy from guests.
Good to know for those of us sailing your ship.
Not me, as i am sailing Explorer next. What show do they do?

I used my barclays debit card with no issues on Indy last year so was probably lucky
Yeah you were lucky.
Should always use a CC instead of a debit card as you are then covered under UK consumer protection.

This usually happens if it detects a purchase or two outside "your normal pattern". I can notify the banks online so once I do that never had an issue. I have had a card canceled when I landed in the UK once (I'm a Brit living in the US) so I know the pain it can cause!
I once told tesco i was traveling to the usa and card worked there, but even though i gave them the dates, they declined my card, in tesco, picking up groceries on way home from airport lol.

In the casino, yes, any tips we get - we put it straight into the pool. I assume it's the same for all departments, but I can only speak for myself.
So if you get an gift (not in in cash) such as a gift card or items from home- would you be able to keep that?

Wow! really.. I barely go near London so definitely not used to that. Tend to see on menus "Parties of 8 or more will have 10% added to the bill" but not much else really.
This thread is about giving someone $20 to get them onto the ship about 15 minutes earlier than they're supposed to be getting on which just seems crackers to me.
I agree its crackers.
And we live in t he IOM too, and we have found the automatic service charges creeping north from London now. We eat out alot when coming home from France every summer.

I still do, but every time i do they say "you dont need to do this anymore"

Barclaycard say they dont need to call them and say you are away anymore. So they shouldnt have blocked it.

I'm so glad we don't do this whole 'tipping' thing in the UK .. this is getting ridiculous 😂
Sure you do, in London and the SE they add a tip (service charge) to every meal. 12.5%

What if you are on a ship not covered by the App? Can you ask day of embarcation to see the menus for your sailing?
-
Either get there early ie by 10am latest and buy the Key. Otherwise get there 11-11:30 and no wait, no expense (although if you buy Voom and like Chops still look at the key).
No $20, this isnt Vegas.

Oops I guess I need to update my signature. I’ve done 2 royal Caribbean since 2015. Allure and on Harmony now. We did just over hear another couple saying the same thing and they found out it’s the first week for the crew onboard. Maybe that’s it. I love Royal Caribbean but it’s just been very different this time 😞
I'll be thats it. Homesick- missing family and getting back to the hard grind.
Think what you are like when you get home from cruising lol

I’ve been on a lot of cruises on 6 different cruise lines. Is it just me or does the royal Caribbean staff seem very unhappy. Don’t get me wrong we have encounter some friendly staff but over half of the workers never smile and they seem inconvenienced when you ask for items. Even the kids club staff acted like they hate children. I’ve never experienced this on other cruise lines but it seems like royal Caribbean it’s every cruise.
Not had this experience at all?
Will cruise in Nov and will look with fresh eyes.
