Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I thought I would chime in rather then let my wife mrsskyhook do all the work. We were on this ship in May for 12 days to Alaska. It was our first cruise on princess for quite a while as we have been sailing mostly on celebrity. We were impressed with the ship as well as the staff so when we saw the opportunity to do the 3 day to San Francisco and then the 12 day to mexico we grabbed it. So far we continue to be impressed! Some of the staff from May are still here and remember us. The ship layout, the staff and the food are all awesome. We are now sitting at the Seaview bar on deck 16 and loving the view of the ocean. Not a lot of cruises we have been on gives you this kind of view sitting at a bar. The weather has been good for this time of year. I got a bit of a tan yesterday. We were at the retreat pool, it is a great area for adults only. It had great service and we met some great people. Unfortunately no sun today. We are booked in club class in the exact same cabin as in May. Club class gives us our own entrance to the Concerto dining room with our own section. The staff and service are excellent! They see us walking in and seat us right away. We are looking forward to getting more South and visiting Mexico, we fly there about 3 times a year and we love the people and the weather. We have a wine tour booked in San Diego. We have never been on a wine tour before and we are really looking forward to this. We will also spend a couple of days in San Francisco when we return as we have never been there. Seas have been calm but it's a bit cool out so we have now moved inside to crooners martini bar, a great place to gather with great service! I will probably chime in again at some point, Cheers!
  2. I'm sure they would look after that as well, they were all super in looking after me.
  3. I have used my cpap on my last few cruises including the Royal which we just got off of in May. We contact Princess (and we were also on Celebrity) ahead of time and they supply the distilled water for free. When you board just see your room stewart and he will supply the extension cord and whatever you need. He then runs the cord and tapes it to the floor for safety. They have all been excellent on either of these cruise lines in looking after me.
  4. We are now home and back at work. Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Although MG and I had a cough and a stuffed up nose after we got off the ship we only ended up with a cold. We tested many times for covid but they were all negative. We really enjoyed this cruise and the people and staff we met. Overall the food and entertainment were good with a few misses. Thanks for coming along, it was great to cruise again!
  5. Hi! We are on our last night so not back in Vancouver yet. As far as customs, we completed our customs forms before we arrived in Victoria and princess took them from us and that seemed to complete it. We did not go through customs when we got off the ship in Victoria and I can only assume that it will be the same in Vancouver. As far as the arrive can app, we did it before we got on the ship and got our QR code. This completed it. When going on a cruise out of canada it is only required before you board although some people dragged there feet and did it later after being prodded by Princess. Doing it within 72 hours of arriving in canada does not apply on cruise ships as you can do it before you board.
  6. I am only explaining my experience! Please direct your comments to princess or check out the Canadian website. I do know that because we had done our arrive can app, we by-passed a bunch of people and boarded the ship before a bunch of people who didn't.
  7. Dinner tonight was awesome! Because of our not so good exprience at the crown grill on our anniversary the restaurant manager at Concerto organized a special meal for us at Concerto, filet mignon with lobster.
  8. Entertainment tonight, Don Friesen, comedian, excellent. We laughed our faces off
  9. Update on entertainment, Anthem and Aria, we walked out. First time ever we have done this. They call themselves comedy and mentalists, but they were none of this. They advertise that they were on America's got talent. We looked it up and they were not actually on the show. They auditioned but they were buzzed off in about a minute. At that time they called themselves comedians. Others might have enjoyed this but we thought they were very fake. Last night we saw an encore of Michael Misco, the magician, again he was very good. The instrumentalist, David Meyer, was there as well and he was excellent! The food, we continue to enjoy it in Concerto. I do question the portions though. I had the cod and chips and mg had the roast beef dinner with yorkshire pudding. Hers was a real meal, 3 pieces of roast beef, peas, carrots and yorkshire. Mine was 1 small piece of Cod and 12 French fries. I did order another piece of cod. It would have been nice to have got this with my meal to begin with.
  10. We're not drama people and we are not interested in making a scene. We had no intention of waiting for another round of food to arrive. They did bring me hot mushrooms after asking. We ate what we wanted and we dealt with this issue in our way through other channels. We just hope others don't have this issue.
  11. Thanks Sally(Sarah)!! We are having a wonderful day! This is a fantastic place to spend my 41st anniversary with the love of my life!!!!
  12. We also have sailed mostly celebrity the last few years and enjoyed the fact there was no smoking in the casino. Smoking is allowed in the casino here but we could hardly smell it. Maybe we hit it at the right time when there were few smokers.
  13. We continue to enjoy our cruise, especially the Crooners bar and Good Spirits bar. (Did you get we are bar people?) I asked Jackie at Crooners if she could make me a Margarita from scratch as they use a Margarita mix which I am not fond of. She was happy to do it but it has become a running joke. If I ask for a Martini she asks me if I want it from scratch. Same if I ask for a glass of wine, etc. She is the best! Yesterday was Sitka but we passed as we were not interested in waiting in a long line to board a transfer bus to the town. A lot of people we met walked off the ship and right back on due to this. The Ovation of the seas was there as well and apparently they were pretty full, 4000 passengers. This did not help the line situation. The medallion app - like others we have had challenges here. Before we even left home we were able to access many parts of this app. When we were on board we were unable to access journey view to see the activities and other parts of the app including me finding mg. The funny thing is we were in a Juneau pub and the app worked great there but not when we got back on the ship. We happened to meet someone on the ship who told us to log off and log back in and wow, everything worked great, except I still could not find my wife. So she arrived today thanks to the ship internet people. Her medallion was faulty and needed to be replaced. Now it all works great like it was intended. Last night for dinner I had the pork shoulder. The right shoulder as the pig was left handed. It was very good. Our experience with the pianist Kory Simon in Crooners was very good. He was hit and miss sometimes but when you get the whole bar and bartenders singing and dancing you are doing something right.
