A few have commented about their dislike of the cheesecake. I thought I would add my 2 cents on it, having been to the steakhouse on several different ships. I ALWAYS order the cheesecake at the steakhouse and have always liked it. However, each steakhouse has their own chef and the dinners and deserts are bound to be different. At some, my lobster dinner was 3 split tails and at others it was 2 split tails. At some the cheesecake was New York/Chicago style (smaller, denser, with a firm outside and creamy inside), and others it was more French style with gelatin as the binding agent and was light and fluffy (tho MUCH larger than typical French cheesecakes). I will add that at no time did it taste like a "jello" cheesecake. BUT, that doesn't mean it didn't taste that way to someone else.

One additional option. There have been numerous cruises lately where the solo supplement has been waived. If this cruise is one of those, then she could just pay the remaining on her own cabin and cancel the boyfriend. Plus, if she DID pay the other deposit, she could get $200 back towards another cruise.

It is fantastic. BUT.... bring an appetite, as there is so much great food. You don't get to order "multiples" like in the MDR, but you don't need to. Between the 4 (often 5) courses, it's more than enough even for the big eaters.
And if you go on the first night of the cruise you get a free bottle of wine. :D

I have disagreed with the "laundry change" ever since people started making that claim. I was Platinum prior to the change and I never saw anything that said "unlimited" laundry. Everything I ever saw regarding Platinum benefits just said free laundry (which does not assume that it is unlimited). In fact, even before the change, many people used to complain that certain ships and certain stewards told them that there were limits on the number of bags.
So this was not a benefit "lost", just a benefit defined.

You might consider earplugs if you really like it quiet. I bring soft foam ones and they work wonders.

that video was great lol
Thanks. I may be nearing 60, but I still party like a 25 year old. The reason I know when the night club closes is because I am there when it does... Every night. :D
Hope you find a cruise that you and your friends can really enjoy.
And when you find one, let me know... I may want to join you. :)

Thank you for taking the time out to give me that advice. Just curious what Carnival ships were you on? Which ones had a live atmosphere and which ships were more family oriented? Also the time length from spring break is from March to April. Different schools have different spring breaks so which week do you think is the best?
Depends on where you live.
The 3 and 4 day cruises out of LA tend to be more party oriented even when it's not spring break. I think you would be "safe" pretty much any time during the months you mention. But later March/early April would likely be the best times. And during the spring break window, even the 7 day cruises have a livelier atmosphere. As for places in Mexico, there is almost always a party going on in Ensenada, especially on the weekends. Cabo is also a good bet. I have a 13 bar "Cantina Crawl" mapped out for Cabo that is a blast.
If you decide where you want to leave from (closer to home is always cheaper), you can always research the ports near there and make a decision.

Really??? That's interesting. Not once in my search did that appear. I'm going to look into Norwegian now. Thank you
No, not really. I have no idea what ships FireEater was sailing on, but that is just flat out wrong based on my experiences.
I have been on 20 Carnival cruises, and I have seen NONE of what s/he is saying.
Depending on what your "thing" is, you can generally find it. Piano bars, karaoke, and other bars/areas sometimes close at midnight or 1AM. The casino bar and surrounding area will often be open til 2 or 3.
The dance club is usually open until at least 2AM and sometimes up to 4AM. There is generally at least one bar up on the Lido deck that is open until 3 or 4. And the pizza place is open 24 hours and I have seen groups of people hang around there partying til very late.
On a recent Memorial day weekend cruise, the dance club was packed til 3 or 4 every night, and the bars in Ensenada were crazy fun (especially Pappas and Beer). Plenty of fun had by one and all.
The other claims are just silly. Easy enough to do a search on these boards about watered down drinks. On those threads, nearly ALL the respondents deny the claim and say that if anything, the drinks are usually too strong. My experience is that they are very strong.
Here is one thread to get you started... http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=695677
And if you want to maximize your drinking pleasure, the Cheers program may be for you. Plenty of threads on it, check it out.
So take that review with a grain of sand (sic). I have seen some pretty amazing partying going on depending on the time of year. Spring break cruises are famous for being "fun".

I hope you get an answer to this. I am looking at the beach trip and also wonder about safety. They say that there is a security guard on the bus with you.....

We always have our waiter bring out a cheese platter for each 2 people at the table and have it waiting for us when we get there every night. It is awesome with the different bread choices.

Imagination or Inspiration?
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
Just an FYI, don't use the large "search cruise critic" box at the top when looking for things in the forums. Go to the forum you want to search (IE: Carnival) and then use the "search this forum" tab about half way down the page and located just below page numbers on the right side. Two searching tips: If looking for specific items like a 6 day menu or CD John Heald, then click on the "show posts" bullet and a list of posts with that in the body will come up. If looking for things that may come up in a thread title, then click on the "show threads" bullet. This is what I used for Inspiration vs Imagination and all those threads popped up.
The key is searching in the forum itself and not using the generic search cruise critic box.
