  1. They are not allowed.

Per the manager and staff on both the summit and Reflection children accompanied by an adult can get food in the aqua spa cafe. We have never tried to actually eat there so I cannot comment, but I specifically asked in the past and they were welcome to get food. I am not sure you would want to sit there and eat. If you go, I tell my kids no talking, get their food and move along. I would get something and take it with you. I believe they can only do this if the adult if present.

I am a firm believer in the no children rule for the solarium. Families are allowed to walk through the area quietly, respectfully to get from one area to the other. But are not allowed to sit or swim.

  2. They can at the very least go to the aqua spa cafe and get food, accompanied by an adult. Not sure about eating there though. I have taken my children there to get food. They were welcome there. A while back my daughter had food allergies and the manager insisted I bring her there and they specialty cooked pork loin and tuna for her. I have asked and been told they are welcome to go get food. I believe they must be accompanied by an adult. I would not send them alone. We have always taken our food and eaten elsewhere so unsure about the tables. I know on our last family scavenger hunt we had an item we needed to get from the aqua spa cafe. We were told to be respectful and we had to go with our child to get it. Also families can cut through/walk quietly through but cannot sit/swim/stay, only walk through to get from one end of the deck to another. But yes, some kids enjoy their food.

  3. Well a big issue is people wash in their rooms, then touch the handrails on the stairs, the buttons in the elevator, door knobs, etc. The sanitizer is a slight help, but too bad there aren't sinks near the dining areas that everyone would wash on the way in. We are so careful to use elbows, and not touch anything after we wash, but seems most do not.

  4. Just a little bit of advice, our grandson was just 3 when we cruised and was toilet trained but because he still needed to be supervised he wasn't allowed to go to kids club on the Allure, even though his older sister would have been there.

It wasn't a major problem as we used the club very little, but we had to sneak his sister there as he would have wanted to go too, we told a white lie and said his sister had gone for a nap, oh dear when we picked her up and she had her face painted[emoji3]

Celebrity's kids club starts at 3, no parents, but they must be fully potty trained (no pulls ups allowed) and they must be able to fully pull up and down their own clothes wth no assistance. RCCL starts at 3 as well from what I read. Why did he need supervision, did he still need assistance ?

  5. Actually, not everything at Café al Bacio is included in the classic package as they do have premium coffee based beverages available in that location. However, your cappuccinos, mochas, lattes, café Americanos, teas (iced or hot), etc. are all included. You can also get a bottled water, beer, glass of wine or even port wine there if you are so inclined. Kind of a nice place in the evening to get dessert and an after dinner drink....very relaxing and you can hear the music from the centrum but it is not as loud.

Has this changed? We were able to get all the non alcoholic there as well as the coffees with alcohol last spring on the classic package.

  6. No parents are not allowed in the kids club. It is a good policy as to limit the adults they are with. If they are unsure how they would do, I recommend having them go for maybe only 30-60 mins the first time. They can go to the desk at anytime and inquire how they are doing. Honestly I never really saw any child not having fun, parents were dragging 99% of them out. The security was pretty good. I felt safe leaving the kids. The employees are very good with the kids. I don't see it as being very different than a camp program by your home.

  7. Just off the Summit. Our 2 grandkids( ages 5 and 9) loved the Fun Factory. Their parents were given a pager. They were paged a few times. Great system.

It might depend on how many kids they have on board. This is a quiet time now since most kids are in school. We had a pager on the Summit, but were told it was for our daughter's food allergy. We were told they only give them for special needs or food allergies. They were telling others no. We did not have one on the Reflection. We were told they were saved for the above (our daughter outgrew the allergies we were concerned about). We do travel during summer or spring break time, where there are a lot of kids.

  8. The trivia I noticed over the years was by the pool. I have never gone to any of the other ones. Honestly I would not move things to go. If I was on deck, great, but it never seemed very special. Usually one or two people, music trivia. People in groups. I think the last one I saw was a sheet you try to answer as many as possible. Celebrity really isn't a great line if you value things like trivia.

  9. No, they do not have phones. They did have a few pagers, but they were reserved for children with allergies or other health issues. When you sign your 3 year old in, they ask on the sheet where you will be. This way they can look for you. In the past I would put something like specific lounge/show. If we changed our plans my husband would just change it on the sheet. You can ask about the pagers, but they were reserved on our past three cruises for those with food allergies or special needs. You can always stop by anytime and check in to see if your child is having fun. We have been doing the fun factory since ages 3 and 4. We always have had to drag our kids out. But we look at the sheets and they pick activities that interest them, so they are not in there all the time.

  10. This thread has made me feel so much better about taking our grandkids with us. We are going in September on the Infinity when school is back in session. (We booked the cruise way before we knew the little ones would be staying with us.). Does anyone have any idea if these cruises still have a decent amount of kids during the school year.

Unlikely. School breaks have a number of kids on board, but during school, you will likely have a handful, if that.

  11. Is this the nightly menu or does it change? This looks nice. My kids ordered off the adult menu 95% of the time but this one has a Caesar salad and fillet mignon which I know they would enjoy. And the desserts sound good. Nicer than the old menu, but I notice no chicken fingers. That was their go to when they did not like the adult menu and tired of steaks. The only kids entree they would order now is the fillet.

  12. We are taking our kids on their 4th Celebrity cruise to Alaska this summer. We are Elite...having sailed long before kids with Celebrity. They have done two Bermuda cruises on the Summit and one Reflection Caribbean cruise. They love the fun factory. They start Ed sailing after just turning 2 and 4. We have been in both the 3-5 and 6-8 groups. This will be our first time in the 9-11 group. They will be 7 and 9. We do eat in the MDR but when they finish one of us walks them to the fun factory and we finish out dinner and have a drink and see the show and retrieve them around 9:30-9:50. We have to drag them out every trip. As far as the 2 year old. Mine was 26 months and fully trained when we sailed years ago. So she was able to swim. They invited her to join the club (she was extremely verbal) during certain activities but we never felt the need as she was happy swimming and exploring the ship. My kids love Celebrity, are treated like princesses and ask when they a sail again.

  13. You really cannot compare the two. X version is not by the pool. It is a separate new area. I have not experienced X's version to comment. While I liked MUTS. It was not so loud that one could not hold a conversation. In fact it was quieter than the pool band and pool games. The nice thing about princesses' version is that there is another pool you can choose to visit if you do not like it.

  14. Hi there - I was wondering if someone could tell me about check-in when boarding the ship (1 concierge room, 1 inside cabin). We have 5 of us traveling split between 2 cabins. My husband, 9 year old son and me are in a concierge room. My mother-in-law and 7 year old son are in an inside cabin. All charges are on our credit card. Can we all check-in together in the concierge line?

    Thanks!

Yes, you can definitely do this. We are Elite but travel with family who are Elite+ and sometimes travel in Aqua class or concierge class. We always stay together. It has never been an issue. It is easier to set up on the same card if you are all together too.

  15. We have also done this at the airport when we fly FC and our travel companions are coach. If there is a long line for Coach check in, we all pile into the FC line...I am sure to the chagrin of others but we try not to hold up any progress for very long. We are traveling with 5 adults next year and we have same category cabins but DH and I are Elites so we planned on all of us checking in thru the same line

Seriously, you all 'pile into' the First Class line at the airport? I trust the gate attendant stops this. People pay dearly for First Class and the ability to get their bag into the overhead bin. 'Just because' they're traveling with you they does not entitle them to board with First. If their boarding pass indicates that they have priority boarding, fine, but being part of your group of family or friends means nothing. That's completely different from having Inside and Suite pax board together on a ship.
    .

I could be wrong but I believe Misha simple meant check in where you check your bags before security. She did not mention anything about boarding, or their taking over head bins in 1st class. I could be wrong but don't people prefer to put their things above their seat? Why would one want to put their stuff in 1st class where it s not easily accessible?

  16. I have to say I think there must be not be adequate across the board training. I am curious with some of the complaints about the service, how the food was cooked, did you bring it to the attention of say the asst maitre'd or someone higher up?

After sailing Celebrity over the course of almost 25 years there are definite changes. But nothing as bad as you have mentioned. It sounds like either a lazy wait staff of under trained servers. We have always been offered pepper for our salads, always checks to make sure meat was cooked properly or replaced immediately. But I see the MDR vs the specialty restaurants more like a catering service vs a sit down restaurant. The specialties serve far fewer with much less pre plated items than the MDR has to contend with. Our sommelier has been good about profusely apologizing when a wine ran out and suggesting another, despite clearly being over worked. But I believe if when things don't go right, if you remain silent, then they will continue to make those errors. Not making excuses for X but in part I wonder if the staff knows it is spring break and some travelers might not be as savvy as the typical repeat X cruiser.

I will say we had two lovely princess cruises about 8 years ago. We throughly enjoyed them, had just ever so slightly less service than on X -but not enough difference to make a difference. The big difference for us was the food. Food is so subjective but several nights our entrees were over cooked, tough (despite order medium rare or rare) and some we couldn't even eat. We would sail on princess again but I still think the find wasn't as you'd as what Celebrity produces now.

But I notice there are groupings of negative reviews on various ships at the same time. I wonder if they are putting newer less trained staff on and that is resulting in poorer reviews. To the op please give maybe a different ship 7 night celebrity cruise another try. I have frequently seen comments that the 5 nighters do not equal the regular 7 or more night cruises.

  17. My daughter told me that her son had to have the nasal. He gets needle sticks all the time with regular immunizations.

My kids have always gotten the shot. Kids 3 and up can definitely get the spray, under 3 it is a shot. Some peds run out of the shots if the parents don't get them early or offer the spray because the kids don't like shots. Some debate, but I thought I read the spray can be more effective than shot.
