    Have a great day all!

Yes, I've had days like this, that's why my hair goes into a bun almost immediately.  Thank you Mysty for the funnies.  Less than 3 weeks and I'll be storming the shores of your great land... with that turncoat hubby of mine (and some Quebecois as reinforcements).  Fundy Trail, here we come!

And that's why you fly "PreCheck"  - shoes stay on, laptop stays in bag, as far as my hair - it always looks like pic #2 on a good day, usually standing out a bit more, ironically it was far worse before it went grey-silver-white.  Happy Friday all, light day at work, house closing (for the one we are selling) is later today, flooring for new place being delivered on Monday, and .... we're going to see Santana/Doobie Brothers tonight!

OK..No joke!  WE SOLD!  15 viewings since Thursday, 6 offers and we accepted a no conditions offer for over the asking price.  We are thrilled!

    Have a great day all!

Woo hoo!!!  So happy for you Mysty!  It seems like houses are either selling really fast, or not at all.  The house that Jeremy attempted to buy back in February, it had been on the market 5 months then .... still on the market, it's almost 1 year now.  Nice house, a couple of code issues, and a bat-crap crazy owner with anger issues.   So, we found one that is lovely, no issues, sweet owners ... and we are doing the same for the folks buying our house (on FriYay!).  In fact, this weekend, I get to give the new owners a tour of the gardens, point out the plants, and give them the care & feeding explanations.  I started a write up to make it easier for them.

Mysty, have you found the place you want to move?  And ... may the garage sale season start?

One hell of a day today coolers. While I was in the hotel 2 masked men with iron bars broke into my cottage next to the hotel where my OH was, demanding give us the money or we’ll take the dogs.  Luckily he managed to get out to me in the hotel and I rang the Police. They didn’t get anything other than our keys. OH very shaken up. 20 police officers, a dog search and a helicopter search of the area later it’s now 3am and time for bed. Albeit not my own bed as they got our house keys too. For somewhere where a vandalised park bench makes the front pages, it’s been a pretty eventful evening. Anyway nobody was hurt and the b*stards got nothing. May God furnish them with everything they deserve.

Sorry to hear about your number 2 episode M, Hopefully the quality of viewer will improve. I Must admit though, Canadian rants seem so much more civilised than the Welsh rants I’ve experienced tonight.

Davy, so sorry to hear about your unwelcome house guests.  My heart goes out to you and OH, and the little four leggers.  Time to change the locks and beef up the security, sounds like it was a targeted visit.

Coolers, I need to apologize in advance because I am about to mini-rant.  We had two viewings at the same time tonight.  When we returned to the house we went about turning off lights.  When I went into the basement bathroom there was an odour.  Someone had used the toilet and did not flush!  Seriously????  Who does that in a home they are viewing belonging to people they don't even know!  This did not start our new adventure off on a very good foot!  Rant over!

ACK!  Sorry that you had disgusting people going thru the house.  Usually the real estate agent keeps better track of them, I know I would never think to do that in someone's home.   Bleah.....

Thanks DW!  It is daunting in the extreme!  And we just got notice that there is a viewing request for this evening at 5:30 pm.  Now the madness begins!

Woo hoo!!!!  And that's how it started for us, we had one showing the day it was listed, 4 the next day, and 2 the following - we had to cancel the last guy as we had accepted an offer before he was scheduled to come see it.  Ironically, that evening we had 6 more requests for the Friday and Saturday before the scheduled open house on Sunday.  Obviously the open house was cancelled but not in time to pull it from the newspaper - so, yes, we had several people ring the door bell (even though we had a sign posted on the door that the open house was cancelled).  We needed drinks after that!!!!

  7. Well Mysty, it's sorta close - my mom was from the Ozarks, so yes, school trip was uphill both ways, they just never seen snow.

How did the photography & listing go?  Our agent turned the photos into a YouTube video that was posted as well, we were laughing so hard.  Have to say, our old house looked fantastic in photo, the new house - pictures didn't do it justice.  Second night in the new house, I finally got some sleep (apparently I looked like the walking dead, office manager kept suggesting I go home early yesterday).  I even found my clothes for work this morning, and remember which cabinet the coffee cups are in.  Off to a great start 😀

Oh Missy!  Thanks so much for your post!  I have a partner in crime!  🙂  I hope you were not a pack rat like I was.  It's much more difficult than it should be!  Our place will be listed on Thursday.  Our housing market right now is good for sellers (apparently).  Hopefully this will all go smoothly!  Best wishes for your endeavour!

Mysty, may you have the good fortune we did, and have your house sell in 1 day from listing!   Yesterday was our move day, house is box-chaos, and I am gleefully sitting in my office at work.  At least here, I know where all my stuff is.  For some reason, my husband's idea of prepping for retirement in 5 years, is to acquire a much larger home.  I did not think I was a pack rat, until time came to pack my quilting & weaving supplies .... honestly, I think I can open a store, and run classes!   Well, it will save me money, I won't find the need to buy anything, anytime too soon.  Congrats on your upcoming move adventure, and imagine all the travelling you can do without the worry of taking care of a house.

Jan and JP, sounds like a good idea to have a CC meeting at Exit 9, when we are all home at the same time.  We may start posting the weekly tasting schedules here, to help coordinate and perhaps encourage others to fly into Albany for the weekend. 😉

Absolutely, as you know, it's important to stay hydrated!  When we have house guests (usually Jeremy's family), we did the "drunk tour" - start at Exit 9 liquor, then head to Shmaltz for some tastings, and then across the drive to Yankee Distillery for some bourbon and a quick playtime with Barley the pug, back to the house for a nap.

We'll be trotting over to Exit 9 later this afternoon, not sure if it will be before or after our walk-thru today.  It's such a fun store, there's always hidden little treasures to be found on the shelves.  When Jeremy's Montreal family were down visiting a couple weeks back, his brother found the Bob Dylan Whiskey that he's been dreaming of - we'll find out the reviews today on the weekly sibling call.  I'm certainly going to need something light and fruity for the week ahead

  10. Greetings Cruisers!  I haven't been on much, and wow ... Capital District is making a statement today!

First off, JP & Chris, bon voyage, enjoy Iceland, we loved our 4 days there - when  Jeremy officially hit the big 50.   We also would love to pick your brains when you get back about Alaska.  Now, go get ready to make your mad dash to Boston!

Welcome to Ann & Peter, we are also in Clifton Park, for another week and a half, then we are moving all the way to ..... Halfmoon!  If I was more athletic, we could pretty much sling-shot our belongings across Route 9.   Yes, the first part of June, Jeremy found his dream retirement home, things moved extremely fast, as we listed our house on the last Monday in June, and accepted an offer on Tuesday evening.  Our purchase closing is Monday, and the selling closing is 8/23 (and we have a SPAC concert that night, so it better go quick 🤣   We'd love to meet up with you sometime (not the next 2 weeks, packapalooza and moveapalooza).   Yes, we can often be found at Exit 9 Liquor, and will be there tomorrow to replenish our Wine & Cidre for the upcoming week of moving & unpacking the little stuff before the furniture arrives the following week.   I miss Shmaltz....

Davey, best wishes on your OH business launch, exciting times.  Sorry to hear about your loss, but congrats on your new bundle of love.

Mysty, hope all is well up north, love your funnies.   What & when is your next adventure?

Lois, how did you make out with the drs?  Hope work has settled down a bit.  Looking forward to hearing about your upcoming trips.

And all the rest, hope everyone's summer is going well, and for our folks in the southern hemisphere, winter is starting to wind down!  Looking forward to catching up on the thread, lusting after everyone's travel adventures.  I do miss Mr. Jeff's amazing food pics and interesting banter, I hope he & his wife are well.  Perhaps they are having much fun at Seaside.

I need to get back to packing, we have the walk thru tomorrow, closing Monday.  And ... Jeremy is going out of town on Tuesday, so that leaves me 3 evenings to get a lot of things done that I want to do before he gets home and messes up progress 😆   Perhaps we need  to have a small impromptu Cruise Critic meetup at Exit 9 Liquor, by far the coolest place in Clifton Park (actually in Halfmoon!!!), well except for the Kinns Road Park where those adorable fluffy baby owlets are, that is VERY COOL!    Ta ta, I'll be checking back in later this evening as I sit & relax with a heating pad on my poor old back....

  11. Honestly Terry, I snarfed my iced tea out of my nose laughing.  I do love Monty Python, and could hear the "and now for something completely different" - goldfish swallowing the whale indeed.   I think it is most generous that Silversea is willing to expose me to their newest acquisition with a bargain $200 credit.  I will pass on the offer, ironically, my next cruise is in fact on RCCL (we're travelling with some other family members which makes SS not affordable, and its only a 1 week adventure, which Celebrity & SS were 10 days - 2 weeks.

I will say with all seriousness, I will have a great time on this cruise, love the people we're travelling with, and we could be spending the week on a leaky life boat and still have a great time.   The price was certainly right, especially since .... yes, Jeremy has found his retirement house, and it looks like we'll be moving early mid August, so this won't be impacting our finances even a little.   We're starting the 2020 planning, and his pick is Alaska with Canadian Rockies, we shall see.   I'm getting 2021 - so looking for suggestions 😀

  12. Well.... the comments do seem all over the place, but as stated "It wasn't 5 star, but it's not 5 star prices".  Not too many lines go to the Canaries, and the one we were really considering was kicked out of the running after talking to some people on our last Silversea cruise.  Passengers as well as former employees of "other cruise line" basically told us to run screaming from a potential booking....:classic_ohmy:   Guess I'll keep looking.....  Thank you MBP!

Davey, how did you get that great picture of me?   Sorry, looks like I am showing a bit too much leg, I'll put on a skort next time.

Thanks for that, UpstateJan.  Here's another shot of my trillium, taken 2 days ago.

    DSC_0007.jpg

Wow!!!  Those variegated leaves are gorgeous, that's an attractive plant outside of bloom time.  I'll have to scrounge around to see if I can find some cultivated trillium, instead of my old wild harvested plants.  My original stock came from my old house, which was property that had been settled for a couple hundred years, so pretty sure someone brought them from the woods.   Wish we lived closer to you, I'd offer a plant swap for a slip of your beauty.

Terry - nice flower photos (makes a change from food).  In our garden we have quite a rare plant for the UK but quite common I think in the US.  It's called a trillium.  This particular plant, which is a large clump, originated in my wife's uncle's garden in Scotland and has now survived three changes of location.

    DSC_0003.jpg

That is a stunner!   It certainly made me smile on this cold damp Monday morning.  The red eyezone on the blossom is beautiful, is the color of the petals white or a blush pink?   I am having serious bloom envy right now.  Good thing that I get to re-landscape the front of the house this spring with some lovely woodland plants (lilies of the valley, mountain laurel, bleeding hearts, and now I need some trillium).   So many plants, so little space .....

Pretty picture! We see them in catalogs all the time but haven't planted any yet. May have to now.

We are quite a few weeks behind. The crocuses aren't even blooning yet. Narcissus are coming up and the hyacinths are just peeking up out of the ground. Seems like a late spring.

JP, Tulipfest is 1 month away, it may be greenleaffest.....   Trillium grows crazy thru the wooded roadsides over in Rennselaer/Washington counties, usually Mother's Day weekend.   I have a few that I moved down from the farm a few years back, they survived, but only the white one blooms.  My red one is still angry with me.   My ramps are starting to peek out of the ground, those are usually harvested in mid to late April.   Guess that two inches of fresh snow on Friday just isn't helping.....
