  1. Hi, Nisky-

We were on the Royal two weeks ago for the glorious, sunny Baltic cruise mentioned above. We had private excursions (SPB Tours) in both St. Petersburg and Stockholm and got off the ships quickly and easily in both ports. I don't think any priority was given to Princess excursions in either port. The ship was full (we were offered a move-over in August), but obviously we didn't take it, and I'm very glad we didn't because the cruise was fantastic. I did not wear a jacket on the entire week.

    Have a great trip!

  2. We did this excursion last February with another couple and still refer to it as the "excursion from hell." Our ship was late getting through the locks so we left the ship about 10 am and did not return until 8 pm that night. The ferry was very crowded and we were stuck in the front on the sun deck where it was 100+ degrees. But, because we were so close to the walls, the locks were amazing and the historical commentary was very informative. Would I do it again? Yes. Would I recommend it to others? Not unless you love history more than personal comfort. Very long, uncomfortable day!

  3. After a few unsuccessful bids, got the Conrad Condado for one night pre-cruise $111. plus fees. I strategy that has been pretty successful for me with Priceline is to bid one dollar over numbers divisible by 10. I think sometimes hotels set their minimum bids at odd levels because they assume most folks bid up by 5s and 10s. This is just my theory--might have no basis in fact.
