Deviation fees are usually not the same for UK customers.

I have a slight warning about D2D. I believe that the included car to LHR is only free if the journey is within 58 miles of the airport. When my parents took their last SS cruise they were asked for an extra £200 when they arrived at Heathrow. This was more than their local driver usually charges them! Being in Royal Wootton Bassett, you are beyond that limit (I was previously a Clyffe Pypard resident!).

Thank you all and thanks for the heads up on the Blacklane transfer, I looked on their website and it is only 50 miles covered. I would certainly not want to pay an extra £200 for the 20 miles so think I'll properly ask for the non-use credit of $50 pp each way and arrange my own.  I have asked my travel agent what the deviation costs are and how much air credit is given if I wish to arrange my own flights.

  2. Hello

A quick question to all you regular Silversea cruisers

I have booked my first ever Silversea cruise departing Barbados to Lisbon. We have booked D2D but I did ask if it is possible to deviate the flight to fly a few days earlier. Cruise agent said this is possible. Are there fees to deviate a flight?  Are they a fixed cost?

I also see that people mention taking air credit and booking their own flights, again is this a fixed credit if you want to book your own flights?

I appreciate your feedback 🙂 thank you

    Jo

Just to follow up...We are now on Infinity but here's how we ended up spending our stay in Rio:

We arrived at 8:00 am on the 10th and, surprisingly, the Hilton had a room for us immediately upon arrivl at the hotel.  We were very tired and just lounged around for the day...ate pizza and beer for lunch at Taberna Atlantica-- along the beach right at the side of the Hilton (there are five restaurants right there, all with outdoor tables).  Large sausage pizza and two beers, shockingly $18 and change in US dollars!  Went to nearby market to pick up snacks.  Had dinner at the Hilton rooftop restaurant--great view.

Second day--full day Rio VIP tour with City Rio Tourism--included Sugarloaf by aerial gondola, Christ the Redeemer by train, Celeron Stairs, Cathedral, lunch at a Brazilian steakhouse with lots of sushi and unlimited steak.  19 tourists in a minivan.  Pretty good overview.

Day three:  We booked a private tour for four of us through the tour company with a desk at the Hilton.  We were going to use them for a group tour but that was sold out...so they set us up with a private tour for four for LESS money (680 Real total for four people).  Was supposed to be four hours but they went for six hours with no additional charge.  Went to Santa Theresa as well as another visit to Celeron Stairs but this time walked down the entire length...also another visit to the Cathedral--but guide, Joao, was even better, did a lunch/dessert at an old "confectionary" that was wonderful.

Day 4:  Check out, taxi to the ship...

    Hi Steve

Can I ask how did you get to the hotel from the airport, did you grab a cab or did you pre-book a transfer. Who did you use if so.

    Many thanks, Jo

  4. I recently booked a balcony guarantee X saving just under £2000 total cost of a V3 cabin. We were allocated a V3 a couple of days later. Happy with the allocation as will use the savings towards flights, hotel etc.

I can see ours too, we sail in October.

Where on Seaware does it show the OBC vouchers? Booked a cruise onboard last November so had onboard booking discount and OBC, unfortunately had to move the booked cruise (March 2024) to another departure date which was easily done with a quick phone call to Azamara but my new booking confirmation doesn't show OBC or discount applied (which the agent said would be carried over) - my points level has also gone from 700+ Discoverer to 21 Adventurer.  Few things to sort out before I sail lol.

I see you have been to Narvik. I am also going there and looking for a northern lights excursion. We will be there Mid October 2024 on Queen Anne. I saw the train one. Hopefully QA will have this excursion. But if Not , I am looking for another company to go with.

You can book direct with the Arctic train https://www.arctictrain.com/ thats what I'm planning on doing when I go in November on P&O Arcadia.

  7. Currently Elite on Celebrity (points from Celebrity rather than RCI) I took my first cruise on Onward in November to secure my points with them, so I will carry on my Discoverer status after the 1st February. Huge bonus for me is that I loved Azamara and booked a further two Azamara cruises whilst onboard, the next is in March and to be truthful I doubt I’ll be sailing much more on Celebrity due to pricing, introducing room service tray charges etc. Got a cruise with them in October which I think will be my last one and tbh I really like the smaller ship vibe with Azamara. 🥰

  8. Hello

Looking at taking a last-minute cruise but would have to leave the ship a day earlier due to flight requirements and existing plans.

Are we allowed to disembark a day earlier than planned, the ship is in Rome for 2 days with planned disembark on the 2nd day but ideally i need to fly home on the 1st day.

Would i still get my points for the cruise, ie 6 days not 7 days or a points awarded only if you complete the entire voyage?

    May thanks, Jo

  9. Hey,

So quick question the cruises go on sale tomorrow morning do you think that you can book two together to make a B2B?

Would ideally want longer than 4 nights so would like 2 to make it 8 nights in total.

I was under the impression that with the PO Cruises you can't make them a B2B so wasn't sure if the same rule applied to Princess.

    Thanks!

  10. So, we have Lifted & Switched our April 2021 on the Constellation cruise to one on the 4th April 2022 on the Millennium.

We were offered a few different cruises that we were able to move to and the 4th April 2022 suited our dates the best so we opted for that one.

Strange thing is, even though it was our agent at Celebrity (we book direct) who moved our cruise, I cannot see it listed any where online??

It not showing on the Celebrity site either as a listed cruise?  The cruise prior to it and the cruise immediately after it are listed but not ours?

Any reason why this would be?  We were even sent a screen shot of the intinery by the agent?

    Very strange..............

To be fair in the UK it doesn’t directly work. What you have to do is scroll all the way to the bottom of the main page and change from UK to United States. Then once on US page use the search option for move up, then you can enter your reservation number and see if you can try. In all my cruises it has never appeared under manage reservation.
    Wendy

Wendy, you're a star. Thank you everyone that assisted me. I have now found it. Although its not showing that I can bid on an upgrade. Oh well, will stick with my Aqua class room and enjoy Blu 🙂 24 days and counting...…….

At the top left of the Celebrity main page is what many people call a "Hamburger" which is the menu.   Open the menu and you will see MoveUp as an option.

I think it must only be available on the US site as the UK/GB one doesn't show it as an option at all?  Tried to go incognito to find it but my laptop keeps going to the UK site.

  13. Has anyone used the supplied travel cot that PO provide?

Have a one year old going on their 1st cruise - PO say that they would supply a travel cot if needed.  Is there any room left in the cabin once it is put up?

Would you recommend taking your own?

Does anyone have a picture of their room with a travel cot in it?

    Cheers, Jo

  14. We are sailing from the uk next year on a 3 night taster cruise , does this mean we can't even buy a drinks package onboard , seriously not impressed if that is the case , why should the minority spoil it for the majority ? Makes my blood boil it really does

Yep, I was told you can’t even purchase onboard [emoji17] idiots onboard have really spoilt it for all.

  15. I suspect following the actions in May of some on board ( some were removed from the ship before we even set sail from Southampton, and others were removed from the ship by the French authorities in Le Havre due to excessive drinking and violent behavior)...that RCI have rethought their marketing strategy for these short cruises.

They were turning into Booze Cruises and were attracting the Stag and Hen parties.

I'm afraid that everyone on board is now effected by the actions of a few.....

ps: you must have been a child bride! No way 30 years!!

    You're too kind :) fyi - married at 19 :)

I was onboard in May - didn't hear about anybody being removed from the ship - think I was too busy watching the royal wedding to notice ;)

  16. Ok,

So just rang RCI to pay my final balance for our cruise and to also pay for a beverage drink package only to be told that RCI have now stopped selling drink packages on Mini cruises - sure enough I can only see a water package available to purchase online.

What on earth!! Booked this cruise as part of our mine and my husbands 30th wedding anniversary (party of 14 onboard) some have purchased the beverage package already and some (like me) haven't.

Was told you cant even buy them onboard.

    Such a shame :(

  17. Hi

Has anyone sailed in 3004 and got any pictures of it inside or view of it from outside. Is it a noisy room at all? It's quite forward and I'm sure I read somewhere cabins can be noisy over the theatre and can also get anchor noise??

    Cheers, Jo

  18. Hi

We're from the UK and have booked Business flights with Viking for March next year with Emirates to Sydney via Dubai. Doing the Sydney to Bali cruise on 10th March. Got good flight times and the price was cheaper than going direct through the airline even with taking into account if we booked own air taking off the 'airfare' element than we would have been deducted from our cruise fare. So 'one happy bunny' here looking forward to going 'down under in style' :)

  19. Just upgraded our flights through Viking Air from the UK to Sydney and Bali back to the UK for March 2019.

Was given a couple of options for flight upgrades, premium economy or business and then a choice of BA or Emirates. Have plumped with Emirates Business class - did a comparison myself on costing direct with the airline and Viking was cheaper although I think the difference was the 'flight allowance' that is built into the package cost of the cruise (as it included return flights) - tbh I'm happy with what I'm paying so all is well :)

    Jo
