We’ve eaten in the Liberty JR mostly for something different to do for lunch on sea days. I get their apple pie to go, consider it one of the best desserts on the ship.

Bringing a bottle to a public venue may subject you to a charge of $15 per bottle. You can bring on bottles of wine at ports, but if they see them, they will hold them until the end fo the cruise.
Do they not scan your bags upon re-entry to the ship, as in Caribbean ports?

Stayed at the Best Western in Newark pre-Anthem. Hotel meh, but transportation included from airport to hotel, hotel to cruise, and cruise back to airport (stopping by hotel to drop off passengers) .

At a local bus company, shorts were not allowed as part of the uniform. We had a very unusual heat wave. Women could wear skirts. Men were pissed.
Yes you guessed it: they started wearing skirts to work. Within two days, shorts were allowed.
I love this.

Playing devil's advocate, do we know that when a cabin has a price drop that the decrease affects the commissionable portion or non-commissionable portion of the fare? My guess is that the commissionable portion of each cabin category fare is fixed, and the variable pricing is done on the NCF.
I don’t know, but my agent has dropped the OBC from $150 to $50 during a series of price drops on my Allure cruise totaling nearly $500.

True...I did benefit a bit as well. Kept the same cruise price and earned $75 OBC in the process.
Me, too!

Did the did the Vision 11/30, no extra gratuity added to the first night done right deal. We’re offered 30% off Chops on the third night by a waiter who approached us in the Schooner. He did mention that we would pay 18% gratuity. My husband countered with “ok, plus 2 glasses of wine” and he said he would take care of us. (I didn’t have the drink pkg, turned into an endless refill on the wine) So it may be negotiable.

My career in sales brought my $$ in via 100% commission. I liked it that way since I paid myself directly for the extra work and effort I always put forth. There were some reps that just didn't feel like putting in the additional work...and their paychecks would show that result. If I were on a common salary with those "other" reps...would I feel my extra effort was rewarded when they received the same paycheck? Not so much. :o
The idea of extra income from additional tips...puts the same spin on things. I have had fantastic cabin attendants, and some not so much. Guess who got the extra dollars in their pockets...and at the same time, we enjoyed that extra effort they put forth. If they were all paid the same?
When they initiated this auto charge system we asked our room steward what he thought of it, and his reply was “well, the lazy ones like it”.

I see. And what of the prepaid card given by the big box store? I have a European cruise booked with them and was assured the $190 would not vary due to price drops. Of course you don’t get to spend it on board, it’s delivered upon completion of the cruise.

Took an Anthem Cruise this past May to Bermuda, we are thinking warm temps, but there was a cold snap. Miserably cold, windy and rainy. Could not use our balcony at all, wore shorts only when in Bermuda. Advise layers, and a jacket. We had only a flannel shirt each that I threw in in case it was cold on the plane.

About the OBC-my current cruise outlet agent reduces it almost every time I get a price drop. It’s now $50 on a $1350 fare, down from $150 on a $1900 original booking. I understand that the OBC is a percentage of their commission, but am thinking of finding one that gives prepaid tips. Don’t suppose they could decrease that?

Hi - I probably missed the deal, but which sailing was this? I checked a few dates in Sep and the balcony was slightly higher than Central Park. Thanks

Anyone else get the menu survey a few months ago? It was rather lengthy and asked what you would be likely to order for each meal from different menus, also preference for the look of the menus including the font. I’m guessing this is the result.

Just booked our first European cruise, Oasis out of Barcelona 2019. I’m a bit confused about the VAT. As far as I can tell, 10% will be added to onboard food and drink purchases and 20% on everything else.
-Is this physical products, or are services taxed, for example, would there be a tax on the daily service charge?
-Would cruise planner purchases avoid the vat, since drink and dining packages would not be purchased on the ship?
-What about tours? Been reading about Romeinlimo, can I expect to pay an additional 20% over quoted prices?
Thanks for any advice!

Got to the port at 1 a couple of weeks ago, 10 minutes from curb to ship, utilizing the (jr) suite line. Self-assist walk off, 18 minutes from cabin to curb ! This was the Vision.

Had a pina colada at the pool bar on Vision. They pour white rum in a glass then add virgin pina colada on top. Very odd, have never seen a frozen drink not blended, and not very tasty, as well. Until enough of the drink had been consumed to be able to stir it, I was drinking either the rum or the mix separately. $11.84 for slop.

Yes. I live in DC suburbs and I pay $18 for a dirty martini -- and I ask for Tito's as opposed to Goose. Will the martinis on the Oasis be $18? I'll be onboard this Sunday and this is my last shot at purchasing that deluxe drink pkg before we board. I am Diamond but I rarely enter the Diamond lounges or equivalent. I'm usually travelling with folks who are not Diamond. Thanks in advance.
On the Vision last weekend- $14.00 cucumber martini ($16.52 with tip).

Thanks, that’s a really good price. Just trying to get an idea of what people actually paid.
