  1. I just called that number today. The lady I spoke with (I forgot her name so I will be calling again tomorrow and speaking with someone else and a supervisor) said that if we take our gift cards to the main pool bar, they will ring up the Cheers program and will honor the pre-cruise price. But only at that one bar and you have to bring your gift card (Why? To prove your intention??). She didn't send me an email and she didn't give me any confirmation number. I haven't been able to confirm with anyone at any other site that they were aware of this or have been successful with this, but I plan to get to the bottom of this and I WILL make this happen.

  2. We've rented a cabana several times while at Grand Turk and have only ever received one key. We always lock our valuables up and head to the beach for a few hours before returning to the pool. However, I've never asked for more than one key so it might be worth asking.

Thanks for your help. I've only read people mention one key, but one can hope. Even two would be helpful; one for the kids and one for us parents. If no one posts their findings before I go, I will share after I go just so folks know.

  3. Do you get more than one set of keys to lock and unlock your cabana at Grand Turk? There are 4 of us, and we will all be doing different things and coming and going separately, so I'm hoping that's an option. Thanks in advance. 😚😚

  4. Leaving the TV on with the sound off doesn't work anymore? ;)

Doesn't do much good in the bathroom. That's where the OP wants to put the tealights.

Why not take a night light.

I tried that on the Dream. The electricity in the bathroom only works if you turn the light on, so the night light was a bust. My whole thing is I'm trying to avoid turning on bright lights when I get up to use the bathroom at night. I want just enough light to be able to see to do my business, not so much to blind me or wake me up.

  5. As of this time, there are no showers available on Eagle Beach. This poster must be thinking of Palm Beach. However, that is about to change. Aruba recognizes that Eagle Beach has never been cruiser friendly, so they are taking steps to correct that. Currently, they are building several areas on Eagle Beach that have restrooms and showers. I have also heard that they will have snack bars. The main issue is when they will actually open. They built one on Arashi and one on Surfside beach over a year ago that are still not open. Your best bet right now would be to go to MVC or Amsterdam Manor, if you would like food and bathroom access. MVC will only allow you to use their bathrooms if you order something from the bar. Some of the other hotels in the area will let you eat there. Most of the hotels that you will see on Eagle Beach are timeshares, with a few hotels. Some of them are all inclusives and don't serve people who aren't staying there. You just have to go there and ask. As I stated before, Eagle Beach is more set up for resort guests than day visitors. Palm Beach is set up for both. You can have a great day on Eagle Beach, but things are more spread out and you just have to look around. Perhaps the new facilities will be open by the time that you arrive, but knowing how slowly things progress in Aruba, that's doubtful.

I wish we had a "like" button on this site so I could like your reply to trump's question. Thank you for all of that information. You didn't just help the OP, you helped other curious people like me too. And thank you too, trump, for asking such a great question!

  6. Yes, wok and tandoori and fish and chips stay

I am pretty sure we lost Tandoori to get Guys Burger Joint. It is no longer listed as a dining option for the Valor on Carnival's website.

  7. Just got off the Valor on the 26th. Went to the gym 5 of the 7 days while on board--yes it is a must for us too. They had several sets of weights and luckily most people were not using them, so I had access to whatever size I needed. They do not have all the equipment she uses, but she will know how to improvise. Cardio machines were the most difficult to get access to the first 3 days. After about day 4, the gym was pretty empty, with the exception of those like your daughter. ;)

Thank you so much for that helpful information! I can't wait to share. 😊

We sailed the Valor, and at the red frog pub, you can do the 12 ounce curls, some times there is a line though ... :)

    Thank you for the laugh.

  8. I might do a cruise on each line next year and compare them.

I've cruised on both. There are benefits to both, but I prefer more bang for my buck and chose Carnival. I have one sister who prefers RCCL and another who prefers NCL. What is good for me may not be Good for you... For that reason I agree you should try Both next year and decide for yourself.

  9. Some family members booked for Jan. 1st - 5th on the Valor.

I have lots of RCL cruise experience but none on Carnival.

Trying to learn what I can to help them.

So guess I need to know what American Table is as well.

    thank you.

    KT

American Table is a new more casual approach: it's no table cloth, different dishes, your water in a pitcher at the table, and a slightly different menu. If you search if you should find info about it. It is a hot topic.

I love the tablecloths and fine dining experience Carnival always provided so I don't like it without having even experienced it.

  10. I have to be gluten free so can't have the meatballs full of filler/breadcrumbs....do they offer gluten free pasta?

Yes, they do have gluten free pasta. My sister had it at the pasta bar on the Dream on 1/31. She said it was acceptable, but not that good. At least not compared to the good stuff available nowadays.

  11. I haven't cruised in a few years but going in September for my 50th birthday. I'm trying to talk friends into coming but I keep reading about changes since my last cruise so I don't want to misinform them on things. So I apologize for any repeat question.

    1. Is it American Table in the MDR?

    2. Do they charge for anything on the menu in the MDR?

    3. Have they started to charge for room service items ?

Thanks for any info you have..

Hi Gribb, I'm not the OP, but I can answer your questions.

    1) They are not using the American Table menu on the Splendor.

    2) They charge for soda, alcohol and the optional "Steakhouse Selections" menu items that come from the steakhouse. Those are special items on a side menu. Most things are free.

    3) There are some new items available for purchase (mostly hot items). Most items are still free.

    Hope that helps!

  12. Thanks for what you have posted so far Raxter. I was there on that cruise too, but you did many things I didn't do and captured pictures of things I didn't get pictures of. It's like an additional set of pictures for my cruise memory book, only I don't remember all of them (much like real life after a few days pass). 😄

I can't wait to see how your story ends.
