  1. Log into your personilizer and you can pay everything in pounds except excursions, they add in $ which will be added to your onboard account, as I said further up the thread if you have a rough idea of what your likely to spend you can gift yourself $500 per person to have against any excursions or bits you purchase onboard. I'm getting $1.66 but do check as I'm not sure when your sailing date is and it maybe be a better or worse rate..

  2. If you know what you might spend onboard you can gift each person $500 at 1.66 (please check with Princess your sailing as it depends on when your sailing) you can also pay gratuities, order drinks packages in pounds which is great for us in the UK at the moment as the exchange rate is approx 1.55 plus you save any conversion rate on your card by paying in sterling before you go 😀

  3. Because it proves my point that what they've told me is rubbish, they've now got to admit that the personilizer is wrong or he can drink.. I would have been more than happy if they would have advised that the website & FAQ was incorrect but they had to make up this paragraph to try and get themselves out of it. and I'm not buying it...

You may not understand why I'm putting so much time into it but I can't stand companies that lie to make an their error look better.

  4. In brief, Princess advised us when we booked he could drink as we were on a Med cruise, then changed it as we weren't sailing out of Southampton, then agreed that they'd not updated their website correctly or FAQ, however when our personilizer came available it was showing he could purchase the all inclusive package or bottles of beer etc, we queried this and were told the statement above, which is of course incorrect, however if they believe this to be true then my 16 year old should be able to purchase and only drink the non alcoholic drinks under $10, I'm basically throwing it back at them because they've given me incorrect information again.

Why does it matter? Which bit

  5. I don't caribill, they have tried to convince me that the reason my 18 year old can purchase the all Inclusive package is & I quote from their email

is allowing you to add on the all inclusive beverage package as this includes all drinks under $10. This means if he purchased the package it would be any non-alcoholic drinks, such as mocktails, coffee etc, that he could purchase. It would flash up under his sail card that he is under 21 and would not be served alcohol.

So as I knew their answer is utter rubbish I've asked why it won't allow me 16 year old to purchase it. Princess just need to either agree he can drink ( which looks like it's going to be the case ) or agree that they've got it wrong and apologise.

  6. Only from Southampton apparently,!!! I did post asking had anyone ever been allowed to drink other than Southampton departures and had no replies. Totally makes sense as all of Europe has drinking age of 18.

  7. Well that's a result, our 20 years old is boarding with a 21 & 24 years old at Rome to join us on our 2nd week, I've been should we say at loggerheads with Princess about this as they advise me that the lower age is only on Southampton departures, and that the brochure & FAQ haven't been updated for a while. My sons personoliser allows him to purchase the All Inclusive drinks package ahead of sailing and advised you need to be over 18 to purchase, however their response was that he would only be able to drink the non alcoholic drinks from that package as the drinking age is 21, what rubbish!!! I even sent them the screen shot stating the age limit of 18 and above and also asked why my 16 year old can't purchase the same package

    Still awaiting their response....

  8. Sorry, I have only just seen the additional replies.

As mentioned above it is slightly cheaper for us to pre-pay gratuities because Princess uses a favourable exchange rate.

Gratuities are $11.50 per day per passenger, so $161 total for us. This would cost around £106 based on today's high street exchange rates. However, the pre-pay cost is £96.60. So for us, yes it is cheaper - unless the exchange rate changes significantly!

Also if you think your excursions etc are going exceed your $300 OBC you can gift yourself $500 OBC @ $1.66 rate, which would be another saving. Can't see the $ jumping above 1.66 any time soon.

  9. We have booked this excursion, firstly would we be one of the first to tender as booked on a Princess Own excursion? Also does the tender take you to a different part of the island for the start of this trip? As there is no mention of the cable car on the outward journey? Anyone been who can advise, Thanks 😀

  10. Thanks for that.

I had already decided to pay the gratuities in advance because it saves about £16 I am also thinking about buying some OBC as I think it's at the same rate.

what seems strange is that excursions are priced in dollars when you try to prepay but everything else is sterling

Be interested to find that out too as we've booked one excursion. You can only buy/gift $500 per person so not enough for the drinks package so gonna pay in £ before we sail...Princess advised me the rate is set when you book so won't change between now & sailing.

  11. Ah, thought you knew the answer and were just saying it as a joke.

If you change names on the cabins, please do abide by the no-sharing. The program is bad enough as is, if people keep rubbing their noses in it they will make it worse.

Ah!! I knew the rules from 2 years ago but didn't know if they had changed like Princess, I drink very little maybe 1/2 daily so won't be cost effective to both pay, we have a 16 & 20 year old in another cabin so we can switch the cabin names easily...

  12. I'm pretty sure that was a joke. :)

Carnival requires ALL adults in the cabin have Cheers or none. People have posted of couples putting the drinkers in one cabin and the non-drinkers in another cabin, at least on paper.

As long as they aren't sharing drinks, which is the concern, I don't see a problem with it. Although I'm pretty sure some drinks were shared in every case.

    What joke ??

Thanks guys will just have to do some name changing on paper x

  13. The last menu I saw showed them as being under $10. Several sites have the menu, the only question is how old is their copy and is it out of date.

You have to buy for the remainder of the cruise. You can purchase on either the first or second day. So you would pay for either 8 or 7 days depending on which day you purchase. People have posted here that they do not roll any previously purchased drinks into the program. So if you buy a drink and then get the Cheers program, you are still paying for that drink PLUS Cheers.

Can I just ask do both parties in cabin have to have the cheers program? We've been on Princess the last 2 years and only 1 person needs to purchase, were coming on Vista next Aug 😀
