Well, there you go, the Op's final word is "Overall I give the Escape a Very GOOD Cruise". Case closed. The Escape does not "suck". Guess all those little issues didn't add up to much after all.
If I had as many it would be a "suck" cruise.
But I know what NCL is, not what their new CEO wishes them to be.

Found Fat Jimmy's nothing to write home about!
Yep, not really worth the wait.
Also didn't see any burgers...
Guy's was the burger joint.
Did Magic have Tandoor?
That was the money place for us.
-
Am I missing any?
Margaritaville
Garden Buffet
Manhattan
Taste
Savor
O'Sheehans
Which ones only do lunch? How about Breakfast?
-
It's a shame we need a spreadsheet at all. Dining should be a simple process.
-
That actually one of my favorite things about NCL - so many different options to eat when your 1st choice is too crowded and/or having an off-day in food/service.[emoji4]

How far away is your second choice and how crowded will it be when you get there. Then how far away is your third choice?
Never mind actually responding, I'm sure it will be OK.
-
Indeed.
And now everyone gets to point out just how far they are above that type of comment. Bravo!
Given the many posts by the OP and the locations mentioned as previously lived in, I will accept that the OP has more experience than the many of the posters being critical.
If the NCL Escape sucked for this OP then I will give them the benefit of the doubt.
-
Are you sure it wasn't the worst trip of your life? OP is pretty adamant that even the carpet was ugly and the washrooms had hour long waits.
Too "Urban"
Sounds like legitimate complaints about the service and food.
-
Sounds about what I would expect on a new ship.
NCL Escape might need to be a pass until the understaffed crew gets it together. If they ever do.
Phooey on NCL for making cruising complicated and difficult.
-
Not everyone see things the way you do, as we all see things with differently.
Yeah, you said that already.
-
This was my opinion. Not everyone see things the way you do, as we all see things with differently.
Whatever, most can see what you did.
-
That's my point, under NCL's pricing model those things are included in the fare and they are included whether you take any of their promotions or not (in other words your fare is not reduced if you decline to take a promotion).
They may not have been fully included when I booked but given the jacked up prices now, they certainly are.

I'm happy with NCL and I don't notice a lot of "nickel and diming" on it either. Agree with the your opinion of Shanghai; had one dinner there an never went back.
He said he didn't see any" more "nickle and diming than CCL not that he didn't notice "a lot"
This does not suggest how much he actually saw. Which suggests it could be more than you don't see. :)

Having taken multiple cruises on both NCL and Carnival, the two lines are much more similar than not. The only differences I noticed were that NCL's buffet was superior to Carnival's while Carnival's MDR was superior to NCL's, the new pizza on Carnival was better than NCL's, NCL had fewer announcements, and NCL's entertainment was generally better. Specialty restaurants on both lines are generally very good, with the exception of NCL's Shanghai (horrid place). Other than that, they're pretty much on the same level in terms of cruising. I didn't notice any more "nickel and diming" on one versus the other.
More upscale restaurants gave more opportunity for nickle and diming on NCL. Especially a la carte if one is not careful.
But NCL is simply a slightly more expensive Carnival with some slight differences.
Or they were before they jacked up the prices on their cruises.

Don't care for the MDR's on NCL
Don't like buffets period.
NCL= Specialty Restaurants
Otherwise no other reason to sail NCL for us. You can survive on the free stuff and have moments of culinary success.
Phooey on NCL for making cruising difficult and annoying.
-
Nothing on a cruise bothers me. I pay for what I want and if I don't want something, I don't buy it. I like NCL the way it is. Have a good night!
But NCL is not really this way at all and really isn't that good.
Phooey on NCL for making cruising complicated and annoying.

I disagree. We have a cruiseline that charges for everything so that prices are low. They are called Carnival.
Imagine if they included unlimited free drinks, unlimited soda, paid gratuities, $75 off each port excursion, free airport transfers and free Internet for everyone? Do you really think any of these things are that expensive to offer? Yes it would add cost but not that much. No mass market cruise does it, and NCL could pull it off for half the price the luxury line charge. And just think, they could eliminate everything it takes to track and recover all these costs.
I would be first in line for such a cruise.
CCL charges for everything? I spent way more out of pocket $ on NCL
But NCL does it on the cheap even so.

NCL is the acme of villainy.
Can't handle the tables of a popular venue.
I'm sure NCL Rep Chris John means well but...

How sad is it that people have to make a chart to remember what was promised at what time??
Ncl has gotten too complicated.
Yep, won't wish to go through this hassle again for a future cruise.

So I am on the Escape right now and you are WRONG. SDP provides a single app, entree, dessert. Not like the old UDP.
In fact, if you choose inexpensive items, the SDP can cost more than buying a la carte.
WRONG  she won't like this.

I just don't see the reason to get all upset over something that we are not 100% sure is going to happen. If it is announced, then I say go for it and be as mad as heck; write NCL, hang a banner from the ceiling, yell it to the rooftops, etc., but until then getting upset really serves no purpose, IMHO.
BTW, thanks for being fair. That is why I said neither is wrong, just that someone got some bad information. Which one, well time will tell. Wish NCL was still posting on here, so we would know one way or another what the real deal is.
You really don't see a reason to get all upset at anything NCL does...ever.
-
Yeah but most of the complaints were stupid or petty
Not to those writing it.
-
Don't worry about it. For every bad review written their are a hundred which have not been written.
Whoa  hundreds of unwritten bad reviews...not good. ;)
-
Another whine and complain post? Wait until after your cruise to see how you feel. From what I've heard free room service is a thing of the past and all lines are starting to charge. Plus no real formal night is a huge benefit.
Pressing jeans and a clean T-shirt certainly is easy enough.
-
That's your situation - I happen to be in a room category where I don't get much freebies (and can't use 3 of them anyway) but got a great deals for time of year sailing and booked early (Studio room after Thanksgiving and before Christmas - booked in the springtime). $2,000 for 3 weeks (7 days each ) on Breakaway-class ships for 1 person, is not a bad deal.

I've taken a family of 4 during that same period for less than that.
And the kids did not sail free.

I still give it weight. She had lots of complaints...suck was my word.
Thought the overall tone was negative.
Wonder what a review would be for a cruise that truly sucked.
