  1. Looking at booking Getaway but researching thru Breakaway I have a couple of spa questions.

The spa pass includes the pools, heated loungers and salt room right? Does the salt really help with breathing? never been in a salt room before. What do you wear? a swimsuit?

Includes everything in the thermal suite ... hydrotherapy pool, dry sauna, hot steam, salt room and headed loungers. Swimsuits are worn into everything ... since the whole area is co-ed.

Salt room was a cool temperature with seating around the small room ... don't know exactly if it helped ... but we did seem to get a little thirsty when we were done.

Its 200 a week right? can I prebook or just when I get onboard? If I don't get it for DH since he spends so much time on the slides with the kids he may not want it. Can he come in and get me if I have avoided everyone (his parents included) for too long?

Yes ... $199 per week sailing ... must be purchased when onboard ... and can not be pre-booked. And only people who purchase the pass may use the facilities ... but not sure if spa staff would just let him come in to get you.

Does the spa have a teen/kid area? DD (mature 12)would love to get a treatment with mommy for something special. I know thats not included in the pass but not sure if it is available. Allure had it but we did not know it until it was too late.

Spa thermal suite is for adults only (18+) ... no exceptions. But there were some kids spa treatments that were available ... and even a kids' night.

  2. We were on that ship. My brother and his family went to Atlantis. The aquarium and dig are free at that time of night.

WOW ... that's good to know ... I'll have to keep that in mind next time.

But we also just got off just yesterday ... and as ibcnusoon said ... we go into Nassau around 4pm. Some members of our group immediately called Graycliff and got reservations for dinner ... and said it was amazing ... as usual. But they did have to go back the next day to get their cigars and chocolate ... as it was already closed by the time they went for dinner ;)

  3. You are quite welcome. I've posted two dailies to at least give you an idea of what to expect. You should have a good time. I'm excited for you. :D

Can't thank you enough ... we'll definitely have a great time ... as we were already on the Breakaway for a 2nt Inaugural ... and had a blast :p

And I think everyone would have a great time too ... if they just followed your advice to:

"Remember that you're on vacation, so no matter what, have fun."

    ;)

  4. I don't think I'll be done before you take off tomorrow. Let me give you a few key points before you head off.

There may be a few delays in service. The ship is definitely understaffed.

Take your documents with you so that you'll have proof of what you paid for in advance. The staff onboard may not have an accurate record.

Remember that you're on vacation, so no matter what, have fun.

Go to all the shows you can. Many of them are enjoyable.

They may possibly make staff changes when you reach Port Canaveral. Don't be alarmed if you have a new room steward on Tuesday night.

Please go to the muster drill so the ship is not delayed.

Don't forget to tell us all about your vacation when you return.;)

WOW ... you are totally awesome ... thanks for thinking of me :p

  5. I was wondering if the Blue Iguana and/or the Red Frog Rum Bar had the tervis tumblers for sale. Would you happen to know if they did? I heard they've not had them from several people the past few months. Thanks in advance. By the way, I love the format for your review.

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

I don't recall seeing them ... but we didn't go to those bars ... as we pre-ordered wine and alcohol from the Fun Shops bon voyage dept :p

Sorry we couldn't be more help ...

  6. Actually when we were on the ship out of Boston this past June there was a limited menu of items available at the bar that is located on the 1st level of the serenity deck . Caesar salad and some wrap type sandwiches.

Thanks for the info ... as we totally missed that :(

Guess we should have went to the bar there ... and ordered more drinks :p

P.S. The Serenity bar is next to the shaded couches on deck 12 fwd starboard ... and on the other side of the couches is where you can get the Serenity towels ;)

  7. Can you tell me if the was any place to eat up at the serenity deck? Also do you know if any of the hot tubs were hot?

No ... there was no food available at Serenity. But you could walk straight down the leveled stairs to deck 9 midship (near pool) to get food at Guy's Burger Joint or BlueIguana Cantina and bring it back up. It wasn't really that bad.

And we're not sure about the temperatures in the hot tubs ... as we never went in them. But there were plenty of people who were ;)

  13. I am not sure about the kids menu for specialty restaurants. I remember talking to someone who said that they pay half from an adult. But I really not sure what they offer them with that cover charge.

    As per the Freestyle Daily:

"All children 4-12 years of age dine for half price when they order from our kid's specialty restaurant menus. Children dine for free when they order from our regular kid's menu."

  14. Not sure if I like the 'alcove' design...if you think about it, those 'alcoves' are taking a bit of precious space away from the inside of your cabin. On the other hand, I suppose that alcove allows them to make the passageways narrower, with the alcove's to allow people to pass each other and/or service carts. So with narrower passageways, more space for the cabins.....

For us on deck 8 ... even though the hallways were more narrow ... it felt like we had more space in our cabin ... and I didn't have to worry about hitting anyone when I opened my door ... so we actually liked it quite a bit :)

But until I experienced it ... I too was hesitant about the change .. although it turned out to be nicer for us ;)

  15. Thanks...that helps. The kids wanted to know where they were sleeping. Pic is small but we can figure it out. We're 4 cabins in that same area in July. How was that deck ? quiet ?

Deck 5 was extremely QUIET when I walked thru to see the cabins ... and portions of the hallways were also extremely WIDE ... even areas not near the handicapped rooms :)

Seeing the little photo posted is helpful ..... looks like the floor plan posted on NCL Breakaway site is fairly accurate. Here is link to Breakaway oceanviews - then you have to select category 01 and look at the photos and floor plan.

    http://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/breakaway/staterooms/2/oceanview#tab_detail

Absolutely ... there have great photos and floor plans ... and they are very accurate for the oceanviews (cat. OA-OX). However the pic for the O1 is not accurate ... but the O1 floor plan is true to the actual pic I took ;)

  16. Just off the Breakaway yesterday ... and for a fact ... the pics posted above are of cabin# 13100 (cat. OA).

I do have one of cabin# 5764 (cat. O1) ... however ... it's not the best quality ... but I'll try to post it anyway ;)

    94525.29b97575ff48d956109b2b3ad9667417.jpg

There are 2 lower beds near the bathroom and entrance door ... then a double sleep sofa ... and a single pullman that comes down from the ceiling above the sofa near the picture window.

  17. Regretably' date=' I am not on this cruise so cannot post any more FSD's, spa menues etc :(. I was invited onto the ship for lunch and a tour as a day visitor in Southampton but had to disembark before it sailed. There is NOTHING sadder on earth than seeing a cruise ship sail off into the distance without you :(.[/quote']

Know exactly what you mean ... and thank you so much for getting the FD and posting it :)
