  1. I know this has probably been said, but I can't find a good answer. How does the tipping work on MSC? I would like to prepay them and not have to worry about bringing cash with me.

Sue,,I had gratuities added to my total cruise price. Just call MSC and they will add them for you.

  2. JCH,,,Please take good care of our room, we'll be there in August and are looking forward to our first time aboard the Divina. Since I'm a camera buff, I do have one question if you don't mind. Is there enough of room on the balcony for a standard size camera tripod? The balcony appears to be very wide but not sure about the depth. Thanks for taking the time out of your vacation to answer my question,,many Thanks!!!

  3. So which Cruise Critic luggage tag holders should I use? I have the wide which I purchased for our Carnival cruise, but not sure which size will fit the MSC luggage tags?

  4. Does anyone have a recommendation for Limo service in San Juan. We are interested in taking a limo from the airport to our hotel and possibly from the hotel to the port.

We used a Limo service for our stay there back in March. I can not say enough good things about this company. The service was EXCEPTIONAL!! If you decide to use them, ask for Edgar to be your driver. He knows everything and everyone on the island,,you will not be disappointed. Just tell him Mike recommended him,,he'll know who I am. Here's a link to their website. Ask for Luis or Angel,,they'll take great care of you and your traveling party.http://viplimopr.com

  5. Thanks for doing this great review! We are doing this same itinerary in August and I'm so glad I found this! Giving me lots of ideas of what to do for the 2 days pre-cruise! We have been to SJ a couple of times, so some new ideas are a must! :) One question, when you went to see the flamenco dancers, is it included in the price of dinner? How far in advance is the recommendation for reservation? Can you make reservations via email????

We had reservations for the night we flew into San Juan, but because our plane was late arriving, we missed our reservation to Barrachina's. Our driver, called the restaurant and was able to get our party of six a table to see the Flamenco Dancers. It pays to know the right people it seems.

If you want to see the show, it begins at 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday nights only. You can reserve a table here:http://www.barrachina.com/indexb.php. Just click on the "Online Reservations" to reserve your table.

  6. Sunday – We ordered room service and had breakfast one last time on our balcony. At 6:30am we took our luggage down to begin the disembarking process. It was uneventful and we were at the airport by 8:30/9am. The flight out of Puerto Rico was delayed for one hour, which caused us to miss our connection. We did not get to Los Angeles until 10:30pm. Thankfully, we had taken Monday off so we had a day to recuperate.

I have to say that this was one of the best vacations we have taken. The ports of call were amazing and the people we met on the Facebook page were great! I’m thinking of doing this same cruise but on Royal Caribbean because they hit a couple of different islands.

We did this same cruise back in March. We had a blast! Loved St. Lucia and St. Maartin! We've booked the Aruba itinerary on Adventure Of The Seas for next March though. The itinerary is perfect for us as we want to return back to San Juan and visit my favorite island of Aruba.:)

  7. We've stayed at LaConcha Resort one day pre and one day post cruise this past March. What can I say,,we love this resort! We stayed in the suite tower which happens to be the newer part of the hotel. When booking, be sure to request this part of the hotel. The rooms are clean and modern, and the beds are very comfortable. Rebecca at the pool bar makes a mean Bloody Mary, Johnathan will take great care of your luggage, and I can't forget my favorite of all, Felix. You'll know who he is once you exit your car and he runs up to give you a high five, welcoming you to the hotel.

  8. Was it easy to get a cab from airport to Old San Juan Sherton? and Back to airport from the ship

Maug,,there are plenty of cabs at the airport, you will have no problem catching one there to take you to your hotel. On debarkation day, the cabs line the street in the morning, definitely won't have a problem finding a ride to the airport.

  9. Hi everyone..was looking for suggestions for something different to do in San Juan. This will be our 4th time here, and we have gone to El Morro and have also done the tour with one of the vans parked outside of the cruise terminal. We also have just walked around window shopped and grabbed a bite to eat at some nice little places. We want to mix it up a bit and try something we haven't done, or see something we haven't seen. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! :)

You can try Zip lining at Torro Verde, http://toroverdepr.com/en/.

Or, rent jet skis and see Puerto Rico from a different vantage point, http://gosurfpr.com/index.php/rentals.

If you're still lost for something different, give Luis a call from VIP Luxury Transportation and Tours. We used them last month for our transportation while we were in San Juan, their service is exceptional!!!! http://viplimopr.com.

  10. Hello All! This will be our first time on the Adventure and the first time sailing with Royal Caribbean. We love San Juan and the Southern Caribbean so this itinerary fits us perfectly. I have two questions for those experienced with this ship. First, are the Coke freestyle machines available? And, is there a Starbucks on board as well? Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

  11. 9202 etc on Conquest class ships....can you book it online or do you have to call Carnival?

Is it reserved for 4 people only or can 2 book it?

Never seen it available for any sailings in any categories, figured its popular, but maybe its a phone call only type thing?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Sailed in 9202 on the Valor 03-23-2014. I booked this stateroom through Carnival but you are able to book 9202 or 9203, both Captain's Suites from the website.

Not sure which ship you are looking at, but I'll give you some info about our room. First, there is a walk in closet, well, hallway. Only half of our closet doors would open, we were told the other half was bolted shut and was for decoration. Second, the outlets in the bathroom are not powerful enough to use a hair dryer or hair straightener. The only outlet that was available with a mirror was at a desk in the bedroom. There is only a 10" makeup mirror there, so trying to dry and style your hair in that mirror is next to impossible. Other than the occasional toilet not working, we loved the space and specially the balcony. I'm hoping when she goes into dry dock they replace the furniture and carpet in this stateroom as they are showing signs of wear. We had a great time and would not hesitate booking this room again.

  12. Heading out on 5/25, been on many cruises but not this ship

    Few questions

    1. Hair dryers in bathroom- still those hose thingies?

    2. Formal nights? What nites

3 cruise leaves at 10 pm- what time is muster?

    4. Anyone hear free bottle of wine if you go to the Steakhouse sun night?

Thanks in advance for all the responses

We are just a week off of the Valor. There are corded hair dryers in the staterooms. Formal nights are Tuesday(sea day), and Thursday(St. Lucia). Muster was around 9:30. We were standing there for an agonizing 45 minutes. The ship's horn sounded as we started to pull away from port before we were released. We did the steakhouse Monday night to celebrate our friend's birthday, but those we spoke with who did go the first night, did receive a bottle of wine. Hope this helps, have a great cruise!

  13. DH an I just upgraded to a balcony on the Valor. This is Aft, Starboard. Anyone have pictures they can share of this cabin?

I've never sailed aft, only mid-ship. Is there alot of motion in the area of the ship?

Just off of the Valor last week. We were in the Captain's Suite which is forward and we could see the ship raise up and down in the aft section. I'm sure you will feel some motion back there as we sure did being forward but it wasn't bad at all.

  14. Not sure what you are questioning about the Neptune categories, but I will try to answer.

Basically, the Neptune suites are all about the same size (on the same ship). An exception are the aft wrap around cabins (most are now SB) which normally are a bit smaller, but no big deal IMO (plus you get a huge balcony). In most cases, the difference between an SA, SB and SC are the locations. Center ship near the Neptune Lounge are normally all SA.

    Does this help?

    DaveOKC

Thank You Dave, that explains the categories of the Suites much better. After speaking with Lori at Hal, we decided to go with stateroom 8140 on the Navigation Deck which has the aft wrap balcony you mentioned.

  15. We are booked on the 30 March 2015 Southern Caribbean on the Noordam. This is a nice itinerary. The Noordam was the first HAL ship my wife and I cruised (Alaska). We have 2 Noordam itineraries booked. We always book a Neptune Suite as we love the Neptune Lounge and quite frankly the slightly added attention of suite amenities. I really appreciate breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill. It is much more relaxed in the morning.

We will be taking our kids as well. However, they are significantly above the HAL KidsClub stage. Three extra inside cabins for a bunch of 20/30 somethings. That aside HAL KidsClub is fine, but certainly not the level of Carnival activities. This will be an Easter cruise so there may be quite a few families aboard.

Good information Kelle. I think our daughter enjoyed doing her own thing with the friends she met on board, more so than the group activities. I'm waiting for my cruise consultant to call me back so I can get one of those Neptune Suites booked before they fill up. Nothing cures a cruise hangover like booking another cruise I guess!!

  16. My son really enjoys the HAL kids' clubs. He is younger than your daughter (now twelve) but has had fun on five HAL cruises since the age of nine. There are usually far fewer children aboard HAL than Carnival or NCL but he actually prefers the quieter atmosphere. Also, fewer children means less waiting time for popular things like gaming consoles.

That's good to know NY. I just wanted to be sure that there were activities and other kids her age she could interact with. She really enjoyed the club aboard our Carnival cruise so it's important she has something similar to look forward to.

    Thank You!
