  1. All tour operators are away of the timing of ships who anchor out and do take that into consideration when accepting a booking. I would suggest you speak with whomever you book and express your concern. The most I believe they can offer is perhaps allowing you to do your excursion private. Can I ask what you are intend on doing?

  2. Never done this tour however if it say Cas en Bas Hike and Beach, you will be no where near the pitons. They are on opposite ends of the island.. Cas en Bas is on the North east coastline, pitons are west coastline. Usually cruise ships do have the itinerary in their description, if you want the pitons I suggest you look in their descriptions. You can also look to local operators on this forum, maybe they have something that will peak your interest and probably cheaper than the cruise port. I suggest you check out Barefoot, serenitytvl, stluciareps, island man or cosol. have fun

  3. Port Royal

A taxi runs for about $100 each way depending on the number of persons plus of course lunch. I would suggest booking through a tour company and specify that you want to have lunch at the beacon, I am sure if you do this private it would be well worth it. It's not logical to pay all of that cash just to go all the way there to eat. If you have been here before its a land then you know it's a long way. Having someone plan an itinerary for you to cut the travel time seems like a better way to spend your money. Check out Serenitytvl, Barefoot, St. Lucia reps and others. I am sure you will be able to find something.

  4. Can anyone recommend a scuba diving tour operator to go diving with inSt. Lucia off of a cruise ship?

I wanted to go with Scuba Steve but I am put off by the factthat they change 100% of the fee (NO refund) if your cruise ship arrives late(has happened to me) or misses the port of call (has happened to me). People write that Scuba Steve is "VERYSTRICT" on their no change policy.

Seems very unfair to charge all of the divers off of thesame cruise ship for something that is out of their control. I read that SCUBA Steve's will meet you onthe dock but that does absolutely no good if the ship is late or does notarrive.

So I want to book with someone else or VERY worst case scenario findanother activity for the three of us to do.

    Thanks

    Rayden

Take a look at Island Divers, the have several dive pass options as they are associated with the Ti Kaye Resort.

  5. It's not the money. It's the road - windy, narrow and scary! I would rather not do that.

    Thanks for the information.

Don't know how much it cost or it's usual route but you can usually get water taxes near the cruise terminal. If you are docked in Point Seraphine, go straight through the terminal building to the back packing lot. You should see the sea and docks. There's a yellowish cabana located there with the guys waiting there. They can also be seen near the information desk. It you are at port Castries then they should be at the southern end of the cruise ship at the port.

  6. Hi All,

The last posts for the Ti Kaye Resort day passes are a few years old. Has any done this recently? Interested in your feedback.

What I do know is they are very.....leisurely in their correspondence. I don't know if this bodes well for a laid-back day or a disaster!

Have done the Ti Kaye Spa Pass. Got all of my information via telephone and confirmed via email. I suggest calling them if you can 1 758 456 8101. We did everything through Lita. They were very accommodating to all our needs. Spa is fabulous!

  7. We love spiced rum. Can you purchase the Chairman's reserve (spiced) and Nutz and Rum in a liquor store? What is the name of the distillery? We are already touring Bacardi. How expensive are these rums?

You can purchased, at the duty free liquor store at cruise port or the St. Lucia Distillers(Barbay Limited). Taxi ride should be about $40.00 each way. Bottles range from $10-$13. There are some bottles such as the Admiral Rodney, Toz which is not on the buffet but can be sampled if asked.

  8. We are cruising on the Fascination this Sunday.

I was hoping people can tell me some not so ordinary alcohols to look for in St. Lucia. I am trying to find stuff that we cannot purchase in the US and can only be found on the particular island.

    Thanks,

    Howard

    Howard

Admiral Rodney(12 year old blended rum), Chairman's reserve 4 year old age rum(available as spiced rum), Nutz and Rum(taste like a snicker bar in a bottle), TOZ Rum, 1938 and 1938. The rum distillery offers a tasting i think $4.00 per person or tour of most the rum the produced. it's also cheaper to get it there. The strongest is the denross strong 80% volume, 160 proof.

  9. Could I ask you Katomerikaf if the Cosol tour consisted of a lot of driving on very winding roads in a bus? How much of that tour were you driving vs being out in locations?

I am not suggesting that is a bad thing - just wanting to clarify for information. Thank you

All Island tours consist of a lot driving. The road is serpentine and mountainous but local operators do have the experience to be extra careful. It doesn't hurt to let them know that you don't do well on the roads. You can also halve an all sea tour which though it's very beautiful I would say you will miss out on the amazing experience of doing the tour via land. i recommend doing half land, half sea tour. i believe Spencer offers that or you can take a look at Barefoot holidays, Serenitytvl. St. Lucia reps etc. they all offer a version of that.

  10. We will be on taking Viking Ocean Caribbean cruise this coming November. St Lucia looks like a very interesting port, and we are undecided what excursion we would like to do there. Viking does an included panoramic excursion, but then we are free to take another excursion or explore on our own. Looking at their list of excursions, the Aerial Tram one through the rainforest sounds interesting (3 hours), as does the Historical Creole Traditions one (4 hours) -- that includes Morne Viewpointe and Fond Latisab Creole Park and National Park. What do you think? We are not that interested in beaches or snorkeling. Any suggestions would be welcome.

For first time visit I suggest going Soufriere route though it would mean missing out on your free Viking cruise. The pitons, drive in volcano, mud baths, waterfalls are must see. You can always include the historical stops. Perhaps you can take a taxi there from the cruise port. Aerial Tram is a great choice, they also offer zip line or a combination of the two(tranopy). Not sure if Fond Latisab still operates but it was nice the last time I visited. If you are going to the Morne, pop into Caribelle Batik, they have really upgraded their tour and have some very interesting things happening. Enjoy your tour!

  11. Is there a place near the cruise port where you can have your passport stamped? If so any directions or advice how to find it, hours open, etc. would be appreciated! Thanks!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Immigration department, the Lamar building on Bridge Street in the city. 3rd floor, second door on the right.

  12. My family (DH, me, DD19, DD14, DD6) are interested in spending some time at Pigeon Point. I looked into the tours but would like to be a bit more flexible than a predetermined time at the beach. I have some questions.

I read that the taxi ride is approx 35 each way per 4 people and probably 7-10 for an additional person. Also, admission fee is 7/pp.

    1) Is it easy to grab a taxi and say 'take me to Pigeon Point please?'

    2) Is there a 'better' beach that is calmer/flatter because of our 6 yr old?

    3) Does one section have more shade than other (for DH to sit and read while girls and I are swimming)?

    4) Where do taxis drop you off?

    5) Are there restroom/changing rooms available? If so, are they in a particular area of the beach?

    6) IMPORTANT - how difficult is it to catch a taxi back to the cruise terminal. Is it something we should arrange with the taxi driver on the way over to come back and get us? Or, is there a way to call a taxi from the park?

    Thanks so much.

A taxi is easily acquired both a cruise port (right outside the terminal building) and at Pigeon Island (outside the main entrance gate). It is approxmately $35.00 and you can arrange with the same driver to pick you up at a specific time. you can check out serenitytvl i believe the provide a tour there. Website states it can be done privately.

We do not have flat beaches, not like Antigua or some of the other Caribbean Island. Pigeon island or Reduit beach would be the top choices with Reduit having the Splash Water Park located there.

Pigeon Island has natural shade and that will depend on the time of the day and where the sun is, but you can move accordingly.

Taxi will drop off at the entrance of the main gate

Rest rooms are located near either one of the small beaches just footsteps away. The staff there will point it out if you ask.

  13. Several years back found someone who took us on a zipline course that was on a banana plantation in the rainforest area and then we hiked to a waterfall. Will be there in April and trying to find something similar. Any help appreciated

    Thanks

As reedprincess pointed out there are several zip line companies. The Zipline in Dennery Treetop Adventure has a waterfall nearby if you want to do that. The one in Soufriere has a few also. You can book directly or perhaps hire a taxi or there are companies who do this. check at Serenitytvl. they have a tour called a tropical adventure.

  14. Can anyone tell me if there is an ATM at the cruiseport providing us USdollars please?

ATMs will be give out local currency(eastern Caribbean dollars XCD). unless you would like to take the line in the bank. Or your cruise ship should be able to help with that.

  15. Is it possible to tour the Piton beer brewery?

Yes you can do a tour with the brewery. They only offer it between the months of Feb. to Nov. three times a week Mon, Tues and Wed. from 9:30 - 11am. And it will only cost the price of the taxi as the tour is free. They don't give any samplings though not like the rum distillery. All you have to do is call them. 758 459 6200

  16. My family and I will be sailing on the Royal Princess and will be in Castries, St. Lucia on Christmas Day. Can anyone tell me the mass times on Christmas Day at the Immaculate Conception Church in Castries, St. Lucia? We would like to attend mass on Christmas Day. If you do not know mass times can you provide a contact email for the church or parish?

    Thank you.

Christmas day Mass will be at 8am and again at 10:30am in the Cathedral. Easily walkable as the cruise ship berths in the city of Castries either at La Place Carenage which is closer or Point Seraphine about a 15 minutes walk. If you are at Point seraphine you can always hire a taxi but its not really worth it if you can walk.

  17. Hi all! My family is interested in hiking The Pitons in St. Lucia. We arrive there at 8am and have to be back on board by 6pm. Just wondering if anyone has been able to get there, hike to the peak of the pitons, and make it back to the boat on time. I have done a little research and noticed that Princess does not offer an excursion through them that hikes the Pitons. Has anyone done this and if so, what company have you used to be able to hike the Pitons and make it back on time. Thanks!

It is possible to do this. It can be done by yourself through a taxi or a tour operator. There are lots of them who offer it such as Barefoot, Serenitytvl, PVh Tours and I believe Congoman( Triibute to Lion) also offers it but it will add at least another 30 minutes to the hike as it starts on the beach at the very base of the Piton. If you are planning to do this via Land, keep in mind it is approx. 1.5 hours drive each way. Hike takes at least 4 hours depending how fit you are. If you are going via sea using a speed boat then your transfer will be 30-45 minutes to get to Soufriere and then the hike. You can also add a swim at the mud baths if you do have some time.

  18. So I just saw on the St. Lucia government website that Herod is now on the Cabinet of Ministries for St. Lucia as the "Minister in the Ministry for Economic Development, Housing, Urban Renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation". Does anyone know if he or his employees are still doing tours? I've sent a few requests through his website and tried to call, but haven't gotten a response. Has anyone heard from him recently? We liked the idea of his land/sea tour as opposed to land both ways or boat both ways. Does anyone know of any other land/sea tours in St. Lucia?

With his new responsibilities Herod's is no longer offer tours. Though don't know why he hasn't said anything yet on his website. You can take a look at Barefoot holidays, Serenitytvl, St. lucia reps. They each have a land and sea tour that they offer.

  19. Hi will be visiting St Lucia on 15th February 16 and looking for advise on beaches. We have previously visited and used Rodney Bay also Cosol Tours. We would like to try another Beach this time. What are you comments on Pigeon Point/ Island ? We are looking for a beach with sunbeds, somewhere to buy refreshments and bathroom facilities etc. ? Or has one got any better suggestions.. Also how much will the taxi cost...

    Many Thanks

Pigeon island is a great location for rest and relaxation. It is close enough to the cruise port and not as busy as other beaches. It is $35.00 one way up to 4 persons for taxi with a $7.00 pp entrance fee with chairs. Drive is only 30 minutes. There's natural shade so no need for umbrellas. I like to visit early when I am planning to hike the fort as the sun can make the hike trying. There is a small reef for snorkeling, snuba is done there, jet ski's. The Jambe de Bois restaurant is good for a light lunch and drinks. There is also some local restaurants right outside that serve local fare. Smokey the fruit boat comes around often with pineapple and coconuts with rum, fresh fruits. He will also top you up for free. Great pineapples! I believe there are some local tour operators who offer tours to Pigeon island Barefoot, Serenitytvl, St. Lucia Reps. Enjoy this beach is fabulous!

  20. Well now I found Serenity Tours, which offer a tour similiar to James Land and Sea, but is $15 cheaper, and I believe has lunch at The Beacon, with incredible views and food. Now I am leaning toward Serenity.

    Thoughts?

I have not taken a tour with either one of them but did take a look at their websites. Serenity has not much presence on cruise critic but they do have great reviews on TripAdvisor. The tours as similar but as I read through Serenity's review on Tripadvisor they seem to be leaning to what you are looking for in your first post. James does also seem to have great reviews. Perhaps you should contact each of them. They both have contact numbers. James has a cell phone 758 712 6285 and Serenity has a toll free number 1 866 766 0794. Maybe speaking with them can clarify a few things.
