  1. No matter which excursion you choose I don’t think you will be disappointed in what Iceland has to offer. If it is a Big Bus tour with a less then enthusiastic driver/guide combined with an inherently poor PA system then it could be a long day. You may not be comfortable with private tours but check out Tinna Adventures for both Djupivogur and Seydisfjordur. They offer small group tours and the owner/guide lives there. They offer a 50% refund if the ship fails to dock which is better than other companies. The other 50% should be covered under your Trip Insurance Policy.
  2. The lounge is only for departing passengers not arriving. Blue Lagoon is a great option but we are not spa people. Going there for breakfast is a thought. We will be traveling with luggage which could be a complication. Thanks for the replies.
  3. Booked 7 day cruise for next Summer on Silhouette, Reykjavík to Reykjavík. The cruise before ours docks in Reykjavík at 5:00am to allow passengers enough time to get to the airport for morning departures. We will be flying in from Boston that morning. Anyone dare to venture a guess how early Celebrity will allow arriving passengers to board. Most flights from the US arrive very early in the morning. Ours is 6:05am. If we have to wait until 11:00am or so we will need to find a way to pass the time.
  4. IM feature is disabled. Send me your email address.<pgrupe@verizon.net>
  5. This is with a private tour operator. So far Celebrity has not any excursions for this port.
  6. Trying to decide on a shore excursion from Djupivogur for next summer. The most popular destination seems to be the Jökulsárlón Glacier Logoon. Small group excursion cost $360pp or $720 for a couple. It is a two hour ride each way. There is a live web cam there and I have checked it daily over the time period before, during and after when we will be there in 2025. More then 50% of the time the lagoon is nearly concealed in cloud cover and all one can see are the ice chunks closest to shore. When it is clear it is beautiful. There are other excursions that tour the valleys and waterfalls of East Iceland which is an option. Is going to the Glacier Lagoon worth the cost when you might spend the day in the clouds.
  7. Great information. Glacier Lagoon seems to be the place to go from Djupivogur but I guess I will have to explore other options. Any other insights would be appreciated.
  8. Which company did you purchase your policy. I typically use Allianz but this time went with IMG.
  9. Did you have an excursion booked in Seydisfjordur? If so who was it with. I am looking at Imagine Iceland and there are no refunds inside 24 hours. Thanks for the info.
  10. Looking at private shore excursions for Seydisfjordur. It seems to be common practice for shore excursion providers not to offer refunds should a cruise ship not be able to dock at the last minute. These excursions are over $300 per person. Anyone have any idea how often cruise ships fail to dock here. I’m sure the same can be said for Djúpivogur.
  11. Been looking at shore excursions for our Iceland Cruise next summer. Two of our ports are small and fairly remote. The company I would like to book with has a zero refund policy if the ship fails to dock at the last minute. They will offer a refund with 48 hours notice. I suspect that they have to travel some distance on the day the ship docks to pick up passengers and if it doesn’t dock they still have to pay the guide and cover expense to move the vehicle. The cost of the excursions are not cheap. Would trip insurance cover your loss under these circumstances?
  12. We booked Center Hotel Plaza for next August on the recommendation of friends who stayed there in March. They had only good things to say about their time there.
  13. We have a cruise on Princess out of Boston the beginning of August. Plan to find someone I can discuss this with, perhaps someone behind the future cruise desk.
  14. Trying to book dining on Enchanted Princess, Jan 19, 2025 from Ft Lauderdale. We are three couples and we all get the same message on the app that we must be paid in full. On the web version we can separately book private tables for two but cannot add guests to the booking.
  15. The issue remains that the app will not allow me to make dining reservations. There are no pictures nor pencils.
  16. I can access dining reservations using the web version and can make a reservation for my wife and I. However we are three couple3 who want to dine together. There is an option to add guest but when I add their booking number and hit search the booking number clears.
  17. We are a group of 6, 3 couples with separate booking numbers. Want to sit together at reservable times each night. Jan 19 Enchanted Princess. No one in our group has been able to access the reservation function of the app. Once reservations become available how do you do a group reservation? Can one person book for everyone? Say we have to wait for final payment does everyone have to be paid up?
  18. I tried Live Chat to no avail. I was initially 94 in que. After 15 minutes i was down to 82. Then I was asked if I was still waiting and was prompted to reply yes or no. I relied YES and patiently waited for an hour and a half. When nothing happened I hit CANCELLED:
  19. Using the web version of the app I can open “Dine My Way”. There are thumb nail pictures of my wife and I with a green check mark and I am allowed to book a private table for two but the are six of us, three couples. There is a “Add Guests” button that when clicked opens a window titled “Add a Booking”. I enter one of their booking numbers and hit the “Search Button” next to it and the booking number I entered vanishes. Soooo close🤬.
  20. How about multiple cruise ships on the same day. We will be on Celebrity Silhouette next July. When it arrives in Isafjordur there will be two other ships there as well, Ocean Sirena and ms Zuiderdam, total passenger capacity 6000. Can the port handle three ships at the same time. Can they all dock or will tendering be required.
  21. We will be there next summer when there will be three ships in port at the same time with a combined passenger capacity of 6000.
  22. One tour provider told me that in Isafjordur it is not uncommon for a cruise line to buy out tours from private companies and offer them as their shore excursions at an inflated price.
